Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Played through Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt for the first time. Main quest was kind of short, but I found it sort of amusing and it didn't overstay its welcome. Some of the enemies however were pretty annoying- although it could be because I'm currently level 50 and having some trouble keeping my weapons and shields appropriately leveled. But some of the common enemies are just so big and take forever to kill.

Also, the "I like my monsters rare" quest is frickin annoying, and they really should've made it clearer that this should be taken while playing through the main quest. I took it afterwards and had a hell of a time loading and reloading and running to certain areas in hopes that one or two of these rare variant creature would spawn. If I had this quest active while playing through the storyline, I think I would have gotten at least 80% of those kills naturally. I really wanted to unlock the quest reward skin for the siren or I would've given up on the damn thing.

Also the human enemies in Big Game Hunt leave a pretty sour taste.

Well you're not supposed to eat them!

It is a surprise that there isn't some sort of hacky trying to be cute cannibalism but just makes ya go "Euuugh" joke, with, like, a big ole cauldron in the campaign.

Man, playing through UVHM is no joke. I’ve made some progress, finished most of Captain Scarlett and made it to Sanctuary in the main game, but it’s slow going. Every enemy now poses a threat, so I have to be very careful and constantly stay in cover. Those flying birds that used to be a minor annoyance are now deadly. Scag pups can knock out my shield just as easy as their larger cousins, heavily armed bandits are now like walking tanks, and enemies can pick me off from very far away if I’m not careful. It’s been an enjoyable if not often frustrating challenge, almost like playing the game in a “Souls-like” difficulty mode. I tell you one thing, I’ve blown through enough cash from dying that old Jack shouldn’t even need to look for the vault any more.

What level did you enter into UVHM? I've heard one mistake players can make is to level up past 50 in TVHM, so when they enter they're level 60 or whatever, but their equipment is all level 50 (the max level that will drop in TVHM) and it makes things very difficult.

That being said, I've started UVHM as well, and I agree it's no joke. I started at level 52 (now 54), and I'm at the end of the Captain Scarlett, and having a hell of a time trying to beat the final boss. I may have to give up and move on to try to improve my gear (which I didn't think was too bad, since it got me through the rest of this DLC and through many of its earlier bosses).

Yeah I think that’s part of my problem. I spent a few levels farming for legendary gear and that’s made things more difficult. I’m 56 now and have replaced most of my out-dated stuff, but it’s still really tough. I *finally* got a Conference Call to drop the other day and now it’s sitting in the bank collecting dust. It would be nice to get a group together and play through as a team, but my gaming time is so sporadic that it’s tough for me to commit to anything. I’d hate to promise people I’ll play, then not be able to show up.

I bought the Handsome collection on the Xbox one(3rd version of both games) and playing through B2 again for the 4th or 5th time, this time with Axton. I did do the second playthrough with Gaige, but got stuck at Wilhelm. Have never played multiplayer, but if anyone wanted to group up on either PC or Xbox One, I would be up for it.

It feels to me like there is an especially rough difficulty spike in the early 50s in UVHM, and I found that getting a Slagga and a Heart Breaker helped with it significantly. You need to be a fair bit into the story to get them, but once you're there they aren't awful to get, and will serve for a while. If you aren't aware of them, get them.

Regarding multiplayer, this is an ethical judgement call that's on the individual, but jumping into random games, you can run into what I assume are dupe tricks where someone just has top-level gear spread all across the floor, and...well, frankly, I figured this was a 7 year old game in maintenance and without a competitive mode, so there was little harm in picking up some sweet, very helpful items I wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Mileage will vary, but it happens.

Love that Slagga, got lucky and had one drop on my first Warrior kill. Anyone actively playing on PC can friend me up if they’d like to: Glycerine74 I’ll most likely be on for the next few nights sometime later in the evening, after my son goes to bed.

Cool, I'll send a friend invite, Rainsmercy on Steam.

I know I already said something to this effect when I was playing TVHM, but now that I'm in UVHM - f*ck Warlord Grug/Turge/Duke of Orc. Seriously.

The key to Wilhelm is to shoot the legs off a few of the loaders that spawn too make easy second wind fodder. Also you should focus on killing those flying shield regenerators the second they respawn.

You may want to play Torgue and/or Scarlet's DLC first. Torgue will overload you with explosive weapons and Scarlet's will net you some great smgs and shotguns. Both will help with Wilhelm a lot.

B2 is still screwy on Steam for me with DLC, it shows I have a bunch purchased, but not downloaded via in game menu, but the library entry shows I have it downloaded. Tried doing the verify local, and it found 1 file and fixed it, but still shows the same. Though I did discover last night the Torgue DLC zone I could actually port to so playing through those on normal. Will go through again on True Vault hunter later. I want to enjoy the story/quest parts I never did before

What are the zone names for the other DLC? Maybe Something just screwy with the DLC menu if I do have the Torgue one and I didn't know it.

Oasis is Scarlett's DLC starting zone
Torgue DLC is Something Crater Badass of Badassitude

Unfortunately with everything going on I didn’t get to play much this weekend, save for yesterday afternoon and evening. I noticed you were on, Rains, but didn’t catch you. I’ve got a handful of legendary weapons if you or anyone else want them, all around level 50: Conference Call shotgun, Infinity Pistol, Unkempt Harold pistol, Veruc assault rifle, and a Lyuda sniper rifle.

Thanks fang!

No worries Glycerine, my play is hit or miss right now for the next couple weeks, as I have finals on the 16th. I am on normal play right now, going through some of the DLC I did not do before. I did get a level too, up to level 44 now, lol. Have not found any upgrades as obviously the DLC is only level 30 max for Torgues anyways. Will complete Torgues and Scarlet's, and I think I have the Tiny Tina's one, if I can figure out where to go for it. Any other dlc I missed?

DLC is only level 30 max for Torgues anyways

WTF, really? Why did they do that? That totally blows!

Almost all enemies cap at 30 (32 for bosses) on regular mode, don't they?

Yah, I guess there are a couple dlc that max out at 35 though according to what I found online. I'm just playing Normal mode to enjoy the story mode since I have not played the DLC as I never bought them on xbox 360. I do have most of the dlc on Steam though now.

Oh, I thought it was capped at 30 for all difficulties/modes. My bad.

Though there are 3 quests in Torgues that have 3 parts(3 difficulty levels, have to finish lower difficulty ones to get to the 3rd one), and the 3rd part is minimum level 50 to play it, so not sure I'll be able to play those on normal mode.

I reached max level on Maya this weekend. Once I reached UVHM the focus for me went away from doing quests to finish the story again, and instead I focused on farming certain areas in hopes of bettering my gear. I may finish the story now on max level just to say that I've done it. I'm at the point in game where you need to go to Opportunity to get Jack's voice, so pretty far in.

I'm trying to think of other things I want to do in this game before I move on. One thing I do want is the cat ears head for Maya (I'm a sucker for cosmetic items in games), but that only drops from Vermivorous the Invincible. I just got it to spawn and killed it for the first time (it wasn't pretty) and didn't get the drop. Don't know how many times it'll take (or how many I'm willing to do) to get this.
