Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I'm still waiting for the Steam pre-order page to pop up just in case there's some TF2 cross-promotion going on.

Also seriously hoping that Steamworks support means you can trade through Steam Inventory because that would be interesting to see what happens to the meta-economy.

If we're expecting this to come to Steam for pre-order, I'm very definitely down for a 4 pack ticket to Borderlands goodness.

Yeah, I will also wait to see if there's a Steam four pack. MUST HAVE HATTES!

My vote is for not-Gamestop, for three reasons.

1) The "Arena" DLC for Borderlands was the least enjoyable part of the game.
2) You get the premiere club membership thing no matter where you pre-order.
3) f*ck Gamestop.

That DLC will probably be available post-launch anyways. Gearbox would be really dumb to split the community with that.

While I agree with #1 & #3, Gamestop is the only store available to me with the pay-whatever-when-you-can style of preorder. Unfortunately, this is the my preferred style for preorders :?. If another store (online included) had that available, I would never step into another Gamestop again.

Do all of the other retailers charge you the full price when you place your order?

Usually just at release, if they charged fully me at point-of-preorder that would be fine too, I guess.

If you pre-order online for in-store pick-up at GameStop they just hold your CC number without charging you anything until you either pick-up the game (and pay however you want) or don't pick-up the game at which point they charge you a $5 restocking fee.

Wait, what? They charge you a $5 restocking fee for not buying a game?

How many games have this kind of scenario, where they are finished with the game before it is available, and they get the level designers and coders working on "what's next", only to have Day One DLC that pisses people off? At least Gearbox is able to be upfront about it. I'm excited.

They're also giving it free to people who pre-order. So that's something.

In light of the recent ME3 brouhaha, it's worth noting that Bioware has had 4 free DLC packs: 3 multiplayer packs with maps, weapons and characters, and the Extended Cut.

1) Paid multiplayer maps splits the community. So they're smart not to do this.
2) The ME3 multiplayer is monetized enough through the random booster packs they sell.

I'd like to point out that neither of those diminishes nel e nel's original conceit. They could have charged for that DLC, and whatever their reasons for not doing so, they didn't do so.

Also, YAY Borderlands 2, I'm definitely going to need to weigh up the various pre-order bonuses, although I wish I didn't have to, it's silly deciding which damn store you want to buy something at for the extraneous goodies that come with it. Capitalism sure does throw out some weird artifacts sometimes.

Wait, what? They charge you a $5 restocking fee for not buying a game?

That is redonkulous.

Shelf space is valuable. They're going to base their stock order on how many pre-orders they've received.

Borderland: Game of the Year Edition is going to be an Amazon Lightning Deal today starting in about an hour (platforms and price unknown).

I just pre-ordered Borderlands 2, which is a little odd for me. Borderlands is actually one of the few games that I gave a second chance to. Usually, when I'm done with a game, I don't go back to it. I played Borderlands a few months after it first came out, but it didn't grab me too much and eventually I sold it. Then, last summer I was able to get the GOTY edition for quite cheap on PS3 and I tried it again. This time, I played much more, and I "got it." I didn't finish it, because the Fall 2011 gaming season began in earnest (hello Deus Ex), but I'll probably pick it up again before the sequel comes out. So, even though I haven't finished the original, I'm still excited enough by the sequel to set up a pre-order.

Going PC with BL2?

It's working for me. But I need to use the front page link.

Are you using the browser version of Steam or actual Steam?

Not seeing the special price, i'll check for it again on the weekend.

Already own Borderlands? Save 10% on your pre-purchase of Borderlands 2!. This weekend only.

Amazon has the 4-pack for $161.xx plus you get 10% off if you purchase, or have purchased, Borderlands from them. Only $36.xx per copy after the discount. I may pick up Borderlands anyway as I only played it on 360 in the past. It's steamworks this time around, but I don't know about amazon's pre-install policies.

I don't think I was given an option to pre-load SR3 when I got it through them.

I'm going to wait until later in the weekend before I pull the trigger on BL2 pre-order. 10% off is nice, but kinda odd there's no 4 pack option.

Yeah, I can't do Green Man Gaming after my past experiences. I'm just gonna pre-order it on Steam this weekend so I can be playing the minute it unlocks.

Looks like you can definitely save some money, though, going through Amazon or GMG.

Yeah I was hoping for 4-packs and the typical 25% off option.

I mean we got it for Torchlight 2 already.

Doesn't it have to work with steam since it is using steamworks for matchmaking instead of gamespy?

I was hoping for PC-to-console multiplayer like Portal 2 had. They haven't announced anything like that have they?

Because I don't want to wait for a Mac version.

Oh didn't see the Amazon 4-pack above. That's interesting.

Will wait and see if Steam matches I guess, since it's supposed to be Steamworks.

The regular PC version on Amazon doesn't get the $10 gift card that the console versions do. No chance I'm getting that.

I'm hoping for that as well, but that's unfortunately a question of whether or not they can do that with the Unreal Engine...
