LOTRO: Riders of Rohan

New expansion time!

And god-friggin-dammit, of COURSE it includes another 10 levels. Of course. Because nobody would play it if it didn't, right? Level cap is now 85 (compare to the original cap of 50).

On the plus side, it does have a neat new mounted combat feature (hopefully available BEFORE level 75):

Introducing Mounted Combat – Ride into Combat atop your loyal War-steed as you defend the people of Rohan from the forces of Isengard and Mordor. Customize your War-steed’s armor and level its skills over time to aid you in mounted defense of King Theoden’s lands.

So, yeah. Horse armor. I look forward to seeing what they come up with for the next tier of crafting resources. They seem to have run out of mythical types of wood so the current best is "birch." I guess even the Elves like it when their bow smells like rootbeer.

Launches this Fall. Maybe I can get my 37 up to the current cap by then (or my level 32 Warden, who is from Rohan). Anyone want to help?

What, no mithrilwood? Bah.

Anyway, Rohan! About damn time. It just sucks that we'll have to be high level to see it.

If you're on Landroval send me a message with your name, maybe we can team up.

I am indeed on Landroval.

I am super jazzed for this expansion; been waiting for it since Moria.

No new pvp zone

Well I suppose they will release more info on it this summer. 1 Expansion a year isn't a lot of new content to keep me hooked, but it will probably keep me coming back and checking it out.

You're right, no new PvP zone, and I love that. PvP always seems to make an MMO so much more hostile. People in LOTRO are generally polite and helpful. When they want to interact with other players, it's cooperatively. Not to prove whose numbers are bigger.

I hope they never add PvP. You want to fight people, there's always Monster Play.

Are they going to have to be specific mounts or will any mount work for combat?

Now, if I could just pull myself away from SW:TOR.

I believe he meant that there is no new zone for monster play (PvMP) despite Turbine promising and then reneging on a plan to add a new zone for Isengard.

While pvp might not be you're cup of yea, there are numerous people who's primary end game activity is pvp, not to mention those players who's main toon is a creep. I would guess that the lack of a new PvMP map will only hasten many long time player's exit from the game.

I'm guessing it'll be a new mount, which makes me wonder if it requires the Riding skill? F2P players don't ever get that without buying it separately. I mean, it's super cheap in the shop and comes free with VIP, but it's possible for a player to get to the new content without ever riding a horse. I also wonder if you can use it outside the new areas, since it sounds like they're tailoring new encounters specifically to the warhorse mechanic. Can you ride your warhorse in Moria? Can you get a wargoat!?

Might have something to do with the fact that I've never made it to the end game in an MMO, outside of Guild Wars. Except in Guild Wars, getting to the end game doesn't mean you've used up all the content. It just means you have access to it all.

That aside, why is it that the very, very few times I see a "you're" on the internet, it's invariably wrong? YOU MOCK ME!

Bear in mind that the agreement with the license holders is that the Free People characters will not be portrayed as fighting one another in-game. That's why Monster Play exists at all. So as far as I know, player vs. player pvp will never exist in the game.

I am looking forward to this, though, definitely.

Since we know which threads your likely to read, it's pretty easy to pull you're chain.

Dammit, freaking Swype. I just need to stop posting from my phone, damn thing makes me look like an idiot.

Yeah, that's what he was talking about. I like PvMP for fun from time to time, but would love a new region for it. They could even ditch the Ettenmoors one of these days and move PvMP en masse to a new region (since I don't think there's enough of a PvMP playerbase to support two regions simultaneously).

With a little break for TOR, I may just be getting to 75 in time for the level cap to be lifted. Nice timing Turbine!
