GWJ BCS League, Season I (360): Conference Championship Week (League Deadline: 12/31/11 @ 7:00am ET)

Hahaha...the only game you seem to have left in those 5 weeks is the last match-up v. Ohio State. Although, is the championship game versus UCLA in that span?

So I guess Hoppa and I are the only two people left this week. I am actually planning to play in a little bit, as long as the baby decides to take a nap. We could potentially have a really short sim week.

NOW WE'RE COOKING WITH GAS!!!!!!!!

I'll try to get mine in tonight.

Don't forget the folks with byes have to recruit...

What a thriller in Piscataway, NJ folks! With Rutgers up 20-17, and 2:02 to go, Ole Miss drives down the field and scores a passing TD with :44 to go. 17 seconds and 2 plays later, Rutgers goes back in front 27-24. Ole Miss, with only 1 time out, drives down the field to tie the game up with a last second field goal to send the game into OT. On 3rd and goal at the 4 yard line, Rutgers gambles with an option play, and the defense parted for Chaz Dodd to run right up the middle for the score. Rutgers then dialed up QB pressure on Ole Miss, and on 4th and 16, hit the QB as he threw to end the game. Rutgers gets a huge win vs a ranked opponent at home to go to (5-3) on the year.

Absolutely. Shag is done, I won't roll until everyone has a green dot (or the deadline hits).

But they should do so soon...hint, hint.

Week 10 League Schedule:
TCU (Big Hoppa) at Duke (XBox)

BYE WEEK (Recruiting):
Georgia (Wi11Nick)
Marshall (ZellbrigeN26)

This is who we have remaining, we got a good chunk finished for Week 10 after 1 day. Bill and Zell, just let me know when you are done recruiting on the message board. I probably won't be on the XBox after noon today, so if we are able to roll early, I can do it right from the website.

Holy crap, who put together my schedule?!?!?!?!

By the way, I love that LSU is ranked #25 with a 3-4 record. Stupid SEC bias.

I know...I moved from CUSA to Big East and am 7-1...beating WVU, Bearcats, Pitt....my only loss came at the hands of ECU. You would think I would be ranked by now...but nope...Marshall is still out of the top 25.

I plan to recruit tonight...I have a guest staying with me and I have been showing her around town, trying to be a gentleman and all
..She is beautiful....feel kinda lucky to have her at my side...

Sorry I haven't been able to get that game in guys. We've had lots of family over this weekend for some reason. Totally unplanned.

Sucks for Bill, two straight bye weeks for Georgia. Ouch.

Human vs Human matchup, as Shag takes on Hoppa.

Wow. OT win vs a ranked opponent, and my visiting prospects mark me down for a B+ effort. Horrible.

Alright Hoppa. Let me know when you want to play. The only thing I have scheduled is my daughter's cheerleading Wednesday night. That is until 8pm though. Everything else, I can try and squeeze in a quick game. A win here keeps Tennessee's Black Division hopes alive!

I'm available from ~7:30pm CDT until about 10:00pm CDT most nights. I've have prior commitments during those hours on Wednesdays, and I work late Thursdays. Maybe we can bang something out tonight or tomorrow?

Wow. #10 ND beats #1 Stanford, 14-10 despite throwing 4 INTs, 3 of them in the redzone. Stanford's A. Luck threw 3 INTs of his own, though.

Stanford scored a TD on their opening drive on a ridiculous 51 yard run up the middle by their star HB. Their FG came after an INT set them up with good field position. They were shut out during the second half.

Stanford's rush defense is excellent, and they've got a monster MLB (see one of the INTs on the videos). My first TD was set-up by an INT by one of my LBs guarding a TE. He returned it to the 26 yard line. It took me 6 plays to get it in (finally), including 3 from within the 5 yard line. This was the story of the night -- the Stanford D was tough, and they caused turnovers on two other trips inside the 5 yard line. Ugh.

The end of the game was a bit crazy. I was up 14-10 and got the ball back with about 5 minutes left on the clock. My running game hadn't been working much all night, but I'd been running up the middle a lot. I started running pitches, counters, and outside hand-offs away from their star LB. I got the ball within the 5 yard line with only about 2:30 on the clock. Pound, pound, pound. 4th and Goal on the 2 yard line. I decided to kick the FG to go up by 7. Of course, I clanked it off of the uprights because of the crazy angle.

Stanford got the ball on the 20 with about 1:30 to go. They started moving the ball well. However, Luck made a crucial error and missed an outside receiver, allowing my safety to come up and grab the ball for an INT with about 40 sec. left. From there I just killed the clock.

Fun, defensive struggle. Interestingly, 5 of the 7 INTs in this game were made by LBs. And one of them by a defensive end!

Ugh. Just looked at my redzone numbers: 5 trips, 1 TD, 0 FGs. That's awful.

I will try and get on tonight. I will keep you posted!

Rutgers loses to USF 31-19. I hate to be a sore loser, but there's so much to complain about in this game. When you fall behind, the XBox really sticks it to you, from penalties on big plays, to hurting your QB for a critical 4th quarter series, to literally moving the CB away from the ball so the WR can calmly catch it. Sure, I should be taking over the CB and making the play myself, but if the player is under AI control, I expect him to at the least make it look like he's not afraid to get cooties if he touches the ball.

At this point, I'm just lucky to have beaten Ole Miss, and will be even luckier if I procure a bowl invitation.

I'm not sure if you're better off trying to take control of the CB...there are some funny things that happen when you and a receiver are going up for a ball together if you're the one controlling things. Also, if you try to switch to that receiver, you're just as likely to switch to the safety 10 yards away, which means he'll jump, clearing the path for the WR to run past him for a score. The number of times I *still* assume the switch will move me to the guy bearing down on the QB rather than the safety on the other side of the field is embarrassing...

agreed...you can try to aim the switch to make it a little easier, but it is still kinda weird and in mid play, you are more likely to actually hurt your chances at a play. Also agree on once you get behind by 14 or more, the game is kinda hard to get back in. Seems like the AI takes heart that you are down, and it goes to town on you...plus there is no bad sportsmanship points for the CPU. They dont care to be up by 21 points and go for it at midfield on a 4-3. They dont stop the no huddle, go for it on 4th downs, dont sub underclassmen, and still bomb it out if they can. Oh well...thats part of the game I guess.

But Kush...you travel to Huntington next week to play the Thundering Herd.

Michigan wins. Big recruiting week.

Missed you tonight, Shag. We can try again tomorrow.
XOXO

Holy crap....Marshall just vented some anger at something (not being ranked and still no respect)...They whomped Duke 77-31. Freshman QB Cato had a rating of 260! 21-40 643yrds 10TDs and only 2INTs (for those who played or followed Madden, now I know how Spynavy felt playing as the Colts). All 4 starting WRs had 100+yards. Marshall's D also came up big with one pick six and 9 sacks on the day, plus 8 tackles for a loss. There were so many big plays, I didnt bother posting them as highlights...the stats speak for themselves.

Sorry. Let's shoot for 10:30 EST tonight. I should be able to get on around then and get my butt kicked.

My one problem I have had is that once I do control a defensive back to either swat at the ball or go for an interception, my guys doesn't jump. Leaving the wide receiver to easily go up for the reception. The other thing that hapen to me was that when I played West Virginia, they shoved my defenseive line so much I couldn't even try to make a tackle. They clearly knocked my D-line on their butts 3/4 of the time. Very dishearting. I just want a chance instead of just kying on my back while the running back runs for a 40+ yard gain!

Quoted for truth.

I'm playing an offline dynasty with ND and am several years down the line. I've had some really good luck with recruiting, and my whole D-line is rated >85 at this point (I think 2 above 90). I was playing my opening game against USF and getting just f*cking pushed around. On one play, I saw 3 of my 4 D-linemen get pushed onto their backs SIMULTANEOUSLY! I'm using the same sliders as here...it's been so long since I played generic All American that I don't know if it has to do with some of the running D sliders or if it's just endemic to the game.

I really wish they'd take some time over the next year to completely overhaul how the line play works, as that's the thing that seems as much lacking as anything these days. It's largely borked. (Don't get me started on the way the programmed pulling guards to be dumb in order to nerf the counter plays since last year...)

Hoppa. I am sorry. It seems that XboxLive was down when I started up my machine. So it was having a hard time running the update and then connecting to XboxLive. Very frustrating as I spent the next 90 minutes trying to figure out why it wasn't connecting. I should be ready to go and will look for you online when I get on.

No worries Shag. We'll get it knocked out tonight. I won't be able to get on until a bit later tonight (10:30-11 your time), but I think that lines up more with your schedule anyway.
