Steam holiday 2011 sales chatter

I double dipped on ME2 at $5 for the sake of convenience (already own a physical copy and have played through twice) and got OMD (plus both DLCs), which was on my wishlist.

Total cost: $10 and change

This was my exact cart.

*internet high five*

I went with OMD + all DLC, and an indie game called Sequence for $2.50. I broke the cardinal rule on Sequence (wait till last day) but $2.50 is fine with me.

I might grab Elven Legacy for $1.99 .. any enabling?

You two should have a party. A Meat-Wang party.

Thanks for ruining the moment!

Just an FYI for others: You can take physical ME2 keys and load them into Origin to turn the game into a digital copy that you can download anytime (or play without disc in drive).

Ewww, Origin...

I'm tempted to pay the $5 so that I *don't* have to use Origin.

With every Steam sale, I find less and less that I want to buy, and see more and more games pop up that make me think "I haven't even played that one yet! Aww, why didn't I wait for this sale?"

Shogun 2, and maybe that Missing Link DLC for Human Revolution, are about all I'm on the lookout for. If they go low enough I'll probably bite. But my video game Pile of Shame is already large as it is...

I suppose I have a mild interest in the Assassin's Creeds as well, I hear the DRM isn't quite as unholy now.

BTW: Space Pirates and Zombies is 50% off. Go go go buy buy buy and join me in obsessive galaxy crawling.

An inherently contrary personality? It's a seriously great game - if you liked the first one even a little, it's an absolute steal at that price.

Er, don't you mean wait and see if it's a daily deal for even cheaper and then if not buy it on Sunday?

Steam sales are weird for me. I don't need anything, and I don't even want to buy anything...but I can't look away!

Portal 2 is a steal at that price. Any holdouts will wonder why they waited so long -- probably within 30 seconds of booting up the game.

tagged - bring on the deals...

Just the two trailers were enough to enable me on this. The game seems easy enough and helping out indie devs seems appropriate for the season.

Origin is unobtrusive for the most part. Less obtrusive than putting a disc in the drive with a physical copy (for ME2, you don't have to leave Origin running, it's just an installer).

I'm not good at DDR type games, even without the dancing part LOL

I'm going to echo what everyone else has said: at $10, Portal 2 is a steal. If you even tolerated the first, you'll get your money's worth out of it.

Some cool new toys, an annoying megalomaniac companion, some more fun physics....and you get Aperture Science's and GLaDOS's backstory.

All for the low, low price of $10.

Steam's operators are standing by! Order NOW! NOW!

I believe it has been compared to Fantasy General, if that means anything to you

That's sort of where I'm at. I have a ton of games on the pile, and no time to play them. Even the wishlisted stuff can wait.

Unless Skyrim really drops in price, then all bets are off.

Easy day to skip for me. Nothing there I have any interest in that I don't already own.

Holy crap the majority of the games on my wishlist are on sale.

This is going to be a list cleaner, as expected.

Definitely should have gone with "Skip the Latte", I've never seen anyone buy so many games! What's your Steam list at now?

My Google Reader exploded from 80 or so new posts this morning from my two dozen feeds to 676 new posts this afternoon. I wonder what did that?

Portal 2, £6.70.

There goes my 'I don't need any other games at the moment'.

Lydia can have the night off...my house needs tidying anyway.

Orcs are surely going to die by the billion today if this thread is anything to go buy. As an Orc myself I feel a little frightened for me and mine. Er, I bought it too.

Don't think I'm clockin the game. I just ... I don't know. When it came out my money was tied up elsewhere, so I passed on it. I also really liked Portal and had the fear many people had that it just wouldn't work as well a second time around. That fear has been allayed for the most part, but ... I don't know, I just can't get excited about it.

Same thing happened with Mass Effect 2. I bought that on sale, put a few hours in and never played it again. I'm getting the same vibe from myself here. *shrugs shoulders*

My Renegade Ops copies from the 4 pack are all gone. Thanks Lobiency and Karmajay for taking them off my hands.

I didn't realize the PC version had a Gordan from Half Life as a character.

Well, it's a whole month until the next Steam sale, so if you pass on Portal 2 (or other things) this week, there's a Christmas sale coming soon. So hey, that willpower people are trying to develop? This is just the warmup phase.

No games today I don't already own but I did go ahead and buy the OMD DLC for a whopping $1.60.

Steam Thanksgiving Sale 2011 (unofficial) spreadsheet

I'll add color coding to the discount columns, but the sorts are there already (separate tabs, at the bottom), so that should get you going for a while.

Ok fine! Consider me enabled!
