I'm guessing there'll be a couple of great deals on headline games of 2009/10 that I'm interested in.
2011 games that I want for $10? Methinks not. Maybe Portal 2 at $15.

Portal 2 has already been $15 in a regular Steam weekend sale. I'm expecting $10 in the xmas sale.

In other news, there is no Midweek Madness sale this week. They usually go up on Tuesdays. That has to mean something!

I'm old enough to get that reference

Well played. (and remember, Mr Mashed Potatoes there turned out to be right!)

Replacement Crucial M4 256GB on the way...

I'm assuming SSD? How much did that set you back? I'm in the market for one, and the 256GB seems to be the best price per GB at the moment.

They already have been. Many games released since then are 20% all the time at Amazon. Rage is 50% off right now in multiple locations. HOMM 6 is 50% right now. Saints Row 3 is 20% off.

Or did you mean on Steam only?

M4 runs $380 on newegg, no stores locally carried it so I bought that and have one day air shipping to boot.

They use the Marvell controller like Intel does with their 510 and 320 series so they seem to be pretty rock solid as far as SSDs go.

I'm not sure I'm really looking for anything in particular, but I will probably pick up AC:B/R if they hit the sales. And maybe Rage.

But other than that... Enh. I'm pretty sure I could be entertained by Skyrim, AC2 and a second play-through of The Witcher 2 for the next year.

DA:O has been $10 or less in other sales. That's pretty likely. Fallout: NV also. Might see either one as low as $5.

As long as it's the Ultimate (i.e. gimme all the DLC) edition. Just don't ask how long it'll take me to complete DA:O and Fallout NV with my steady ongoing diet of MMOs.

I must have been asleep at the keyboard on that one or I would have snapped it up.

Right, I'm ready to give Gabe more money. Let the sale begin!

Just want to see what will be offered.

But Payday seems tempting in a 4-packs.

Wasn't there "PACKS" last year, like 10 copies to buy..?

Yes, and it was pretty ridiculous. Like < $10 for 10 copies of Deus Ex or Half-Life 2 I think. That was the Thanksgiving sale promotion thing.

We're still a ways off from the main Xmas sale though.

Wasn't rage late sept or really early october? I am talking about the CoD, Skyrim, BF3, etc.. I can't see holiday season blockbusters being heavily discounted until after the holidays. I don't qualify HOMM and SR3 as blockbuster AAA games. I probably should have qualified my statement.

I scoff at you, sir!

The hell is WRONG with you?

I didn't update my wishlist since the summer sale. I'm not a big plot fan but I guess I'll add Skyrim just in case there is a slim chance to win it ;).

I've bought a lot of games recently and I got so many options to play without buying more.

not too itchy(66%+)

-Skyrim
- HoM&M
- Dungeon Defenders
- Tropico 4
- From Dust -edit added (Ubi better be generous).
Nice to have(33%-50%+ discount):
-Orcs must die

Jump on opportunity:
-BF3 - I'm going to buy this anyway after buying a new PC so any discount would be nice. - Got a BF3 LE hard copy for a good price from someone who accidentally preordered 2 now I just need a new PC.
-Jagged alliance:BIA - I'm not sure how successful it would be and I got plenty of games to keep me busy. I won't buy it on release unless it has an attractive price.
-X: Rebirth - I like X3 ;).

Wishful thinking :
Digital distribution of Silent Storm Gold - I can't find my copy and a new one cost 50+$

Are we there yet?

Possibly at 1pm eastern...

I haven't opened steam in weeks as I've been console focused lately. I really don't need to buy anything. I must avoid this thread.

Though I may gift a few things this year.

I know that they are older titles, but the only things I'm really looking for are Sacred 2 (unlikely to happen) and Morrowind on the super cheap. Both are games that I own on the console but would like to pick up for future use on PC. I would also like to finally have access to the Sacred 2 expansion that never made it to consoles.

That being said, steam usually manages to bring a few smaller games to my attention each sale that I didn't even know existed and end up really enjoying so I'll be keeping an eye out.

Re: PC falling behind: my CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 X2, clocking in at I think 2.2 GHz. RAM 2 GB. GPU is an Nvidia GeForce GTS 250. It's okay playing something from 2-3 years back (except Crysis), but Space Marine and Dawn Of War II are the only new-ish games I've played bearably. I would want it to run the new Total War titles well to be happy, and I think that's down to the CPU.

RAM is really cheap. Newegg regularly has 4g for under $50, 8g often around that.

Yeah, you are definitely behind the times, especially with a 2.2ghz processor. You could use more RAM, also, but that's neither here nor there.

I think I'm also really tolerant to having an old machine, since my last machine was running an Athlon 64 3200+ and a Radeon 9500pro AGP. This may be changing a bit as PC games have become much more enticing in the here and now thanks to Steam. Prior to all this, I pretty much didn't buy much new outside of a few Valve games, which had really low requirements. I was able to run L4D on my old machine. Also, LCD monitors are a pain, forcing you to run at high resolutions, or make everything look like trash, or else some can be decent about it and shrink the size of the display so pixels stay 1:1 at lower resolutions.

This sounds pretty analogous to my situation a couple years ago. Right down to the specs actually: 9600XT instead of 9500 and 3500+ instead of 3200+. Rebuilt the rig with an i7-860, 4 GB of RAM, and a HD5850 about 2 years ago. It's hummed along at 1920x1200 with almost everything I've thrown at it from the last year or two (for the record I haven't tossed Witcher 2 or anything close to that at it yet, nor have I tried to run much DX11 stuff either). I think the final bill on the build was around $1000 and unless the next generation of consoles are a huge leap in fidelity again I don't see it struggling for a few more years.

Damn, the sale went up fast and smooth.

Edit: I say that and then it goes kinda wacky on me.

It begins! Right away I'm looking at Orcs must die for $3.75. I will probably cave on that before the day is through.

10$ for Portal 2, must resist.

Hehe, I'm not seeing any sale prices, though the games are shown.

Wow - I think today will do it for me. I didn't really want to buy much in this sale, but I've been wanting to pick up ME and ME2 for the PC since they're some of my favorite games ever and I doubt I'll have a working 360 for too much longer. $4.99 for each is a fantastic price. I might end up grabbing Portal 2 as well.

You roll a 1 on your resistance check. Critical failure. Purchase it.

I'll probably get Orcs Must Die for $3.74. It's on my wishlist, and I doubt it will go lower.

Today's deals

Mass Effect 2 - $4.99
Risen - $14.99
Renegade Ops - $7.99
Dejobaan Collection - $9.99
The Oddboxx - $3.74
Sam and Max Complete - $12.49
Orcs Must Die - $3.74
Test Drive Unlimited 2 - $4.99
Duke Nukem Forever - $6.79
Men of War: Vietnam - $8.74
Call of Duty: Black Ops - $29.99
Portal 2 - $10.19

I guess it's the usual tale of not buying anything apart from the daily deals until the last day, so you don't get caught by buying something before it goes for a deeper discount.

FO:NV is 50% right now, so that's £25 with all the trimmings (DLC), hopefully they put it down further.

There's a lot of games on sale through 11/28, but there's no easy way to know. Lots of games discounted in the 25-50% off range. I'm hoping somebody ends up making a spreadsheet....please?

I'm making note of these games, and if they don't go on super-sale by Monday, I'll pick them up at normal-sale prices.

Ended up getting Orcs Must Die! today, impulse buy at $3.74
