Steam holiday 2011 sales chatter

All I'm looking for is Space Marine and maybe Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood if the price is right. I'd like Skyrim too, but I doubt that'll have a significant sale.

Deus Ex could tempt me, though.

Counting pre-orders there are 1480 actual games on the Steam store right now. That probably includes some duplicates like GOTY editions and The Orange Box but still, that's a whole lot of games.

Valve has dropped the ball then lately. The 1 grand prize drawing reward for these Summer/Holiday sales/tickets things needs to be a complete (as of the date of the contest) Steam account.

I'm sure my wish list is the same as everyone else's, with things like Skyrim and Witcher 2 but there's some cheaper stuff like Titan Quest Gold I'd like to see go down to pocket change levels.

and what qualifies for pocket change? The package has been $5 so many times, I don't think even the owners know how many times any more. I don't see it dropping below that, though. Plus it's a huge deal for the tons of hours you get out of it.

Well, I didn't want it then, but I do now. I'd buy it for $5.

I thought they did that for one of the contests.

I'm about 2/3 through AC:Brotherhood, and it's just a fantastic game. I'm expecting a $13.59 price tag in the sale (66% off). By all means get it.

You know, it's going to have to be a serious deal to get me to buy anything more right now.

After the summer sale I looked at my pile and decided it had gotten completely ridiculous and swore that I wasn't buying anything else unless it was something I was planning on playing immediately. It'll always be on sale again. I have broken that once when I bought the D&D bundle from GoG a while back but beyond that I really haven't bought anything except Skyrim.

So yeah, if there is some incredible deal on something I know I'll play immediately I'll jump on it but I'm going to try to avoid pile bloat this season.

This. The Pile Monster must be cut off. It's cold turkey for that ... thing.

Yup. This. It's pretty much gonna be Skyrim (or another game I already own) from now until Mass Effect 3.

I just couldn't resist ;). You can't avoid the sale - you will all be assimilated when the sale arrives :).

Bsastion and Limbo are the two titles I must expect to be cheap and plan on picking up.

Bastion and From Dust are the ones I'm keeping an eye on. Dues Ex is a long shot for sub-20-bucks. But, really, with my pile, which includes half-played DA:O, an unplayed Witcher 2 and a my winter tradition of playing through Mass Effect 1 and 2, I should just hold off on that.

Are EA titles all gone from Steam? I'd love to pick up Mass Effect if they had it for real cheap on Steam, or should I watch out on Origin?

I set a budget of about 50 euros, they are in my wallet (last month's wallet went almost whole to Batman AC preorder), but I doubt I will spend all of it on me (I feel a tremble in my gifting finger though). I am hoping for AssCreed Brotherhood sale and Sengoku for cheaper, other than that I don't see any pricey games in my wishlist.

I have, according to my drop down library count, 546 games. I doubt the sale will get me past 600, but one can only hope!

Actually Steam has over 1100 games.

400 of them being pieces of a train.

That seriously cracked me up.

The 600 thing I said was a joke, but thanks, now you've given Cragmyre something to shoot for

It is good to have goals

At this point I just dont have that much I want outside of MW2 and La Noire. Unless they have stunning deals for 5 bucks on some odd ball stuff this might be an easy one on my wallet this year....

Yeah right who am I kidding

LA Noire for 30$
Rage for 25$
COD Black Ops for 30$
COD MW2 For 15$
Darkest of Days for 10$
Dead Island for 15$
Portal 2 for 10$

It is pretty much guaranteed that my wallet will be reamed by Steam each sale up until there are no more good games to buy.

I'd wager that's close to a sure thing.

The only Steam game that I want that I don't already own is LA Noire. Hopefully it ends up around $30 if there is a sale.

I'm guessing there'll be a couple of great deals on headline games of 2009/10 that I'm interested in.
2011 games that I want for $10? Methinks not. Maybe Portal 2 at $15.

Dragon Age Origins (09) - Ultimate Edition is currently $30. $10 in the sale seems possible.
COD:MW2 (09) - Currently $30. Not sure that'll make it to $10, but I'd guess at sub $20.
Fallout New Vegas (10) - Currently $20, surely $10 or part of a pack.

DA:O has been $10 or less in other sales. That's pretty likely. Fallout: NV also. Might see either one as low as $5.

Portal 2 has already been $15 in a regular Steam weekend sale. I'm expecting $10 in the xmas sale.

In other news, there is no Midweek Madness sale this week. They usually go up on Tuesdays. That has to mean something!

Whoo steam sale a coming

As my PC is rapidly falling behind the acceptable standard of graphics cards (the rest of it is up-to-date, but I've never upgraded a graphics card and am kinda hesitant about it), so I don't have that much to anticipate

Awwwwwww. You know, some of us here can probably help you with that. Believe it or not, it's super easy as long as you know what you have now.

With my PC falling behind the curve (CPU, mobo), I'm less tempted than I might be. I'm still looking forward to time to delve into (most of) of last year's games. I know there will be some that are too good deals to pass up... Portal 2, Space Marine, Shogun come to mind. Still trying to decide if I should hold off checking it daily or not, really.

I am definitely looking for the Deus Ex HR DLC sale. Batman will also be cool on sale.

I was holding off on Skyrim but I bought it last week. I figured there wouldn't be a sale on it anytime soon.

I'm curious, what is 'falling behind the curve' for most (Taco and jlasskso, specifically) people? I've got an i5 750 w/ 8GB of RAM and a 4870 1GB and feel quite alright, but then again, I've not looked at any game releasing this fall short of Battlefield 3, which gave it a challenge at 1920x1080 to the point that I dropped the resolution. I may look at a new vid card next gen if the improvements are substantial.

I really don't think any game that came out since October will be more then 10% off until at least February.

I woke up this morning to a dead OS HDD.

Replacement Crucial M4 256GB on the way, though. Don't think I'll be buying anything over $10 for a while on Steam

I'm hoping for a $30 or less Rage sale. It was $40, but when I learned there were no email/journals to find as in Doom 3 it dropped $10.

I just got back from Target where Rage is currently on sale for $30. This is the Anarchy Edition with the extra content, and of course it will activate on Steam. I believe the price is good through Friday.
