Steam holiday 2011 sales chatter

I have, according to my drop down library count, 546 games. I doubt the sale will get me past 600, but one can only hope!

Saints Row 3 - I'm holding off on this because I don't have time to play it, but a sale will probably force my hand.

SPAZ, The Witcher 2 - both games that I haven't gotten to and will probably be unable to resist a significant sale on.

A good BF3 sale will probably tempt me. I'd like to play some online shooters.

I wouldn't be surprised if I picked up some games I already own just to consolidate them in my Steam library.

Looking over my wishlist, there really aren't any PC games I'm looking to get. I might get Saints Row 3 if the deal is sweet enough. Other than that, I expect (or at least hope) my purchases will be limited to $5-or-less impulse buys.

Well, Witcher 2 and Skyrim *were* the big ticket items on my wishlist, but I just grabbed TW2 from the Amazon sale. I doubt I'll be grabbing Skyrim unless there's an insane sale, like $10 or so.

I've still got a few big deal retail price games on there, like Deus Ex and Heroes VI, but they're not really high priorities for me, even at steep sale prices. Mostly, I'm looking for great deals on little things, like Cities in Motion, or Sengoku.

Not expecting much for this sale honestly. I've hit a bunch of the previous ones really hard so I think pile impact should be negligible this year. I'd be very surprised if there isn't a meta-narrative like the Summer sale though.

I would probably take Hard Reset for $10, and maybe Super Street Fighter 4 at a 50+% discounted rate (+ DLC), along with some PopCap things for $5 but I think I'm good on games for a while Gabe

EDIT: Also, any DLC packs for games I already own, should they go on sale.

Think I've got about 25 games on my Steam wishlist. But not sure how many of them I would actually buy on sale right now. The pile is already big.

I doubt there will be a good enough deal on Arkham City to make me bite and that's the one I want most.

Does Steam even have 600 games?

"What games do you own on Steam?"

"All of them".

Everyone please remember to wishlist some budget games! Often people are looking to surprise you with things, and you'll only have things like $60 Skyrim, MW3, etc

Of course, if Steam has another contest that we won't win, remember to have some great games as your top 10. My top 10 was from the contest 3 years ago, so now I'll probably get them for $10 or so

I'm going to try and resist the siren song of the Steam sale. I'm sure some sort of $5.00 or $2.50 sale will get me to bite on something, but I'm going to do my best to resist, due to my shrinking wallet and ever expanded pile.

Ok, here's my Wishlist. But this time around I can really wait it out, thanks to Skyrim and the impending TOR release, and Mass Effect 3, and the rest of the pile:

My list:
The Witcher 2
Tropico 4
Sims Medieval and Pirate expansion pack
SPAZ
Warhammer Retribution and Space Marine
Dead Island
Limbo
COD BLOPS
Orcs Must Die!
Arkham City
That game I didn't know I wanted until they cut the price THAT MUCH.

Stuff I have on my wishlist but not really that interested in:
Sins of a Solar Empire (have non-steam)
World in Conflict (have non-Steam)
Sword of the Stars 2 (too buggy right now, have SOTS 1)
Everquest 2 (why?)
Deus EX HR DLC (just finished the main, no desire to replay right now)
Shogun 2 DLC (still playing the main)
From Dust (why?)

I don't think I'm really going to go nuts this time around. Maybe just a few, but that's it. Famous last words.

Same and same.

:D

Actually Steam has over 1100 games.

Also have a bunch of stuff to play, but I don't see myself getting much in early 2012 (Judging by the release calendar) so I'm open to a few good sales.

The caveat is that I NEED a 50% off sale or more to bite. Sales of 25% off or whatnot come around way to often for me to go out of my way to get it for Christmas. No 50% off, no deal.

Titles I'd get are

Rage
HoMM VI (I don't care what they pretend the name of it is, that's what it is)
Dead Island
Game of Thrones: Genesis (I'll buy it at 10$, no more).
Deus Ex DLC
Sins of a Solar Empire

And that's it! Should be relatively light on the wallet, I don't want to spend more than 50$.

400 of them being pieces of a train.

Counting pre-orders there are 1480 actual games on the Steam store right now. That probably includes some duplicates like GOTY editions and The Orange Box but still, that's a whole lot of games.

Man. I still have an embarrassing number of unplayed games from the last year's worth of Steam sales. Mass Effect 1&2, Call of Pripyat, Civ 5, the Oddworld bundle, Liberty City Episodes, Bully, Fallout New Vegas, Dead Space 2, Dead Rising 2, Front Mission Evolved and probably 30 indie games. Not to mention the pile of recent stuff that I've started but not completed, including Bastion, Deus Ex HR, Saints Row 3, Rock of Ages, Renegade Ops, and the immense time sink of BF3 multiplayer.

The thought of adding more games to my pile is just stressful and guilt-inducing.

That said, I'd probably jump at a good price on Rage, Skyrim or MW3.

That seriously cracked me up.

The 600 thing I said was a joke, but thanks, now you've given Cragmyre something to shoot for

Play Mass Effect

Nooooow!

That reminds me, I need to add those to my wishlist. Thanks!

Oh, right. Dead Island. I'll pick that up at <=$20.

Dirt 3 (not likely, it's still $50, but it's one of my $10 limit games)

Due to the Nvidia pack in deal, there are lots of Dirt 3 Steam keys you can buy for $10 on ebay. I did that not too long after the game release.

It was also on sale on Steam recently for around $15 (if you bought both games in the pack) so $10 at Christmas seems possible.

$7.45 later. I love/hate you so much.

That's a lot of great game for that money.

I'm sure my wish list is the same as everyone else's, with things like Skyrim and Witcher 2 but there's some cheaper stuff like Titan Quest Gold I'd like to see go down to pocket change levels.

Yeah, it was even below my if it were $10 it would be too cheap to pass up a game I really wanted but didn't have a whole lot of time for threshold.

EDIT:

and what qualifies for pocket change? The package has been $5 so many times, I don't think even the owners know how many times any more. I don't see it dropping below that, though. Plus it's a huge deal for the tons of hours you get out of it.

The big items on the wishlist are:

Space Marine
Sengoku
Football Manager 2012
Deus Ex HR
Batman AC

But really I can probably wait for the summer sale for those with what I have on the pile.

As always I'll probably use the sale as an excuse to give out a heap of cheap gifts to random Steam friends.

As an aside I absolutely hate people not having cheap stuff on their wishlists. I understand that for most if they were interested they'd just buy it, but I use the wishlist to list games I have an interest in or think may be interesting but am not fully committed to spending folding money on (note: in Australia the smallest note is $5, everything below is coins).

I echo the general sentiment that there isn't a ton that I really want, looking forward to some of the sub-$10 deals, especially if they are for titles on my wishlist. Pile is quite large and will be trying my best to hold off as much as I can, meaning that I will probably only go for the smaller, bite-size gaming experiences.

My wishlist:

Space Pirates and Zombies
Deus Ex: HR DLC
Bastion (hopefully as a package with the Soundtrack, or both at a steep discount)
Rock of Ages
Renegade Ops
Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity
The Polynomial
Puzzle Agent 2

Larger Titles that I'd like to see discounted but I am more than happy to wait until next Steam sale to get:

Shogun 2
Tropico 4
RAGE
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine
Dawn of War II: Retribution
Sword of the Stars II (if the bugs are worked out)

I'm not looking to buy anything in particular. I'll get wrapped up in whatever achievement collection garbage they'll do this year and that will cost me enough money. Although, I think they're running out of games to use that I don't already own.

I'm wondering when Red Orchestra2 will go on sale. It's seen a good number of fixes since release, and they're now working on extra (free) content that was cut from the release version. I imagine some time in the new year it'll see a free weekend to get it's numbers up.

I've decided I want a couple mediocre FPS games to go on sale. I wound up with Frontlines: Fuel of War from the THQ pack (first thing I ever bought on Steam), and sat on it for a couple years. I installed it recently and played it, and it's utterly forgettable in all sorts of ways. Same idea, I picked up MOH: Airborne for I think $2.50 in the summer sale. Neither was actively "good", but there are times I just want to shoot bad guys and not actually have to use my brain to outwit good A.I. opponents. I need me a marginally decent FPS or two, really really cheap.
