NFL 2011 Week 17

Raheem is officially gone. I thought he did a phenomenal job in 2010, but I don't know that I've ever seen a team so unprepared and stupid as this year's team. Really sad. What a complete and utter collapse.

100% aware of the playoff situation. Yea when your team is riddled with injuries and you have a hell mary shot at making the playoffs you obviously do it so you can get steam rolled in the playoffs by a wildcard team.....

Sorry I just believe in being realistic. KC could easily win the division in 2012 with some better injury luck. In 2011 they didn't help themselves. Unless they plan on bringing Orton back in 2012 to compete vs Cassel I guess? ugh why bother its Kyle Orton.

Another factor is that the Chiefs had a ton of cap room they HAD to spend before the end of the season. Orton was basically free.

You play to win. Period.

I don't see any need to make it more complicated. Players and coaches don't show up to games and go "oh we're supposed to lose." Sure, some people might have that attitude, but they won't last long in the NFL. Of course teams know that beating the Packers or Steelers or whoever is difficult, but as long as they're well coached they'll show up and play their hearts out. And it's possible they can win. Just like when the Chiefs beat the Packers. It can happen.

Should we start a different thread for playoff predictions?

Oh yeah forgot to say this last night: Colts are on the clock.

I like KC. If vegas sleeps on them in 2012 I'm hitting them hard to win the division next year. Just saying they are a young team with huge upside that was decimated by injuries.

Chicago bringing Orton back to get into the playoffs with their defense and a prayer that Forte/Cutler came back is the type of move you 100% understand.

Just saying if KC didn't make the push this year I doubt the fans would be rioting that they didn't try to make a run with Kyle Orton so they could be a first round 8 point dog

I'm honestly nitpicking tho. Its 4-5 draft spots and like Jayhawker said the money was negligible for them. Maybe the conspiracy theory applies that Atl/Det gave KC a call and told them to pickup Orton so the Bears couldn't and owe them a strange looking trade come draft day

edit: John Fox's calling punt after punt yesterday instead of kicking long FG's was probably more mind boggling.

Well, Jacksonville had to go and win, delivering Luck on a silver platter to Indy while hurting their own chances at drafting the top WR, Justin Blackmon.

But, hey, 5-11.

Also, the Jags have asked the Falcons for permission to interview Mike Mularkey. Knew that was coming.

Olsen is out also. I think he was a big factor in the team's bad play and Freeman's regression.

I'd love to obsess over film and see how many of Freeman's picks were bad throws and how many were just stupid plays by WRs. The pick-six yesterday was two WRs running into each other and knocking themselves down; the ball was where it was supposed to be, but the receivers were prone. Curtis Lofton got the ball right in his hands, easiest INT he could ever get.

I have not retired my Freeman-crush; the kid will be much better last year with a real offseason, better coaching, and hopefully a WR or two who actually runs the right pattern on occasion.

Yeah, I'm hot on KC for next year too.
