Try "TickDits". I wanted to play as -=xXxElItEsNiPeR420xXx=-, but I ran out of space.

I'm looking for BLR friends too. My character name right now is Saurus because their site wasn't clear on how naming worked when I signed up and made it seem like I couldn't use my account name as my character name.

Sent.

Looking around the store, it looks like the receivers aren't priced that high. Optics are crazy expensive. About 2x what receivers cost.

Kind of odd. Maybe they figure the optics are usable across a wide variety of receivers, so they're more flexible?

Well, it appears that Raptr has a couple rewards for this game. You can get a jump start package and veteran package just for playing the game a bit. Not bad.

Good to finally see somebody online at the same time. I hopped into a server with garion for a couple of rounds.

Yup, but I quit as I was (a) doing terrible and (b) having issues in the menus. Plus the one shot kills were annoying me.

Headshots are very high damage in this game.

I think I've found a way to play with that prebuilt "Regulator" gun I rented for a day. I just try to stay out of CQB with it because it's set up for ranged damage. Find people with the visor, then either flank them or set up where they're going to pass into a choke point that I can control. Try not to get into firefights with multiple players head on unless I'm with teammates.

I started that last round 8-0 before getting flanked, then started screwing up. Still probably one of my best rounds in the game.

The maps we happened to be playing on were firsts for me, so I know I shouldn't be complaining.

Truth is I'm waiting for the starter pack to hit 75% off on Steam. If it never gets there I'll drop the $10 for it, which is, well, much better than $20.

That's kind of the reason I've been playing around a bit with it this week. I bought the Tribes pack even though I already had Tribes gold unspent. It was just a really good deal on a game I enjoy.

I'd possibly buy the starter pack at $5. I don't love this game, but I can see hopping in on occasion.

There's some really smart design in a few things that I admire. But I just can't fall in love with it.

I looooove the customization, but as with BL Tango there might just be too much customization. Your choices tend to make such miniscule differences that it's hard to feel them.

I usually run with the prefab fire-ammo SMG (Close/Med), which means I can only take out one opponent (two if I'm lucky) before I have to reload or switch to my pistol. The thing dumps bullets like no-one's business, but I have to make sure I'm only taking one person on at a time, and I'm constantly reloading.

Haven't tried many other guns yet. I should probably do that.

I'd definitely drop $5 for the starter pack. Here's a detailed description of its contents.

I think I'll either try a combat rifle receiver or burst receiver next. I really don't like the CQ feel of this game. I only tried an SMG for awhile. Think it came with a level up. But I think they've tweaked gun stuff since then, so maybe I should try again.

I kind of wish shotguns unlocked sooner as secondaries, it would make a nice combo with these medium range guns.

Deadmonkeys, if you do try a longer range gun, that Regulator definitely can take out up to 3 people before reloading if you play it right. That's partly how I was getting some kills. People would think I'd be out and either rush me or back off to reload themselves, but I was bursting to conserve.

I think my first permanent purchase will be the LMG receiver. I'm a terrible shot so I like a gun that can mask that with inaccuracy and compensate for it with a huge magazine.

Or maybe I'll save up for the medic pack. That's how I usually play these things. I don't shoot at bad guys, I make sure the good guys can keep shooting at bad guys.

I've been revived in this game a total of once

All that means is A) there aren't enough medics, B) being a medic is hard or C) you're impatient and die too fast.

I did notice that there's a pack for healing and a separate pack for reviving.

New to forums (and blacklight) I play a bit in early evenings the past few nights character name is ClnKlinck. Its actually my second account (on blacklight) because the first one was attached to an email that got corrupted. the way i have saved and spent my GP so far on this go around is to buy one premade weapon i like for the day, then save the rest for future perm purchases of armor and recievers of weapons etc.

Also today they added a 2 new weapons, crowbar (melee) and a burstfire SMG

I've been playing for a bit. I like the game enough. The guns feel good but the F2P part of the game falls a little short. It is grind heavy but I will continue with it. My character is Spy Rosa. I'm not good but I will try to revive you if I can.

Edit: Sorry double post.

I have to say I have put in a lot of time with games like Battlefield etc. I've seen a lot of the posts early on complaining about the shooting quality and the feel of it etc. After playing a good 15 hours I can say that they have made many improvements, I can see the difference minor adjustments make to my weapons and character layout, and if you were not impressed at first then I sincerely recommend you give it another go. And if you don't want to put in a lot of time then then there are now many starter weapons with high level upgrades to combat people who put in a ton of time. I seem to be a bit anal and building my weapon to fit my character spec.

Some stuff has changed for the better. They did a big revamp on weapons awhile back I think.

But it still doesn't feel very good to me. I don't like the movement feel or the gun feel as good as I do other shooters I play.

That said, I keep coming back and playing with it on occasion. Don't really know why, other than I think I'm stubborn. It's competent, but I don't love it.

I probably would have bought the starter kit if it had been in the $5 range like the Tribes deal was.

Yeah I believe the only reason it isn't cheaper is because they just got it onto steam.

Tribes launched on Steam right before BLR. Both are really new on Steam.

That said, they don't owe me a sale. But I've spent $35 on Tribes due to some good deals that they've had. Plus a bit more enjoyment.

I sound overly negative. I think this is a pretty good game that more people should try.

I'm constantly reviving people, but almost never get a revive. Which is a shame, because its not hard to do, and well worth the effort.

My first permanent purchase will be the LMG receiver, because I've really come to enjoy the abomination I've put together. Starting with the LMG receiver, I stuck on anything that increases run speed and reduces recoil, then topped it off with a decent scope. It ends up playing a lot like an SMG, nasty at short ranges, decent at midrange if you crouch and scope, and lousy at long range. But, unlike an SMG, I can just hose the area, that 80 round belt lasts a long time, and its a very hard hitting weapon, too. I've taken out 3 guys at once a few times, and normally can drop two guys in CQC if I keep moving and dodging. Snapfire at medium range by dropping to a crouch and scoping in, it reliably takes down targets.

Then I back it up with a scoped revolver, for the times I need accurate fire.

The HVR helps with the big problem I have with most FPS, figuring out where the action is before I get blindsided. In Bad Company 2, for example, I commonly run around tossing sensor balls simply because I want that little bit of warning they can give.

The hardsuits are my bane. If I buy one, odds are I'm gonna die before I can summon it. The few times I've gotten into one, its been worthless, or I stomp all over the other team like Godzilla. The joys of playing in the newbie leagues, the level 10 and under servers. I do enjoy killing them, EMP grenade and Stinger antiarmor rockets, and its a sad day for that hardsuit driver. Haven't had the chance to roast one yet, with the flamethrower, but that's got to be good for a laugh.

I suspect it's worth much more on game modes like KotH than on TDM.

I think I'd rather have the health injector thing for pub play. If I played with people I was communicating with more, or played more objective based modes, the revival thing might make more sense for me.

Pick a partner, look at the score board if nothing else. Follow your chosen meatshield around. When he gets in a fight and dies, odds are who he was shooting is wounded, so you should be able to finish him off. Revive your meatshield, rinse, repeat. No voxcomm required. Double teaming is almost always better than running around solo. Works for me.

I just started playing this a couple days ago, and I like the potential for it, I just hope the memory leaks and lag get patched up soon. If anyone wants to add me to their friend list, I'm KamenRiderNixa.

I want this game to be good and popular just to stick it to Call of Doody.

I'm more of a flanker. I'll travel with a pack sometimes until the bunch up in a fight, then I go around and try to either pick off loners or come behind the enemies fighting my guys.

If I was playing one of the objective modes, picking people up on the capture points would be more useful to me. But for TDM, I'm just trying to kill while staying alive. I can see the worth of reviving, but think keeping myself alive to keep killing people makes more sense as a thing to spend my hard earned points on.

Thinking about getting into this. Anything a new person should know?

The game is good but their store is really confusing. There's a TotalBiscuit video embedded upthread where he does a good job explaining how it works.

I'd say when you start out, after you get a few points, try renting some of the pre-built guns on a daily basis and see if there's any style gun you click with. Don't permanently buy anything for awhile.

Thanks, dudes.
