I don't think we've got a Catch-All for Blacklight Retribution, so let's start one.
Blacklight Retribution is a new F2P game that's getting a lot of good word of mouth.
Dev talk:
Weapons stuff:
Joystiq is giving away keys right now.
And a player vid that I saw on youtube a few days ago that got me interested:
Yeah I signed up for the beta for this a while back but no dice. Youtube videos look like it could be a lot of fun.
I believe the PCGamer crew have mentioned the beta several times and are really enjoying it.
Excuse me if it was mentioned in one of the videos above, but how do they make money? What is monetized?
Interesting in the sense that the first effort wasn't very. Going to check it out when it's open for all, I believe.
And for those looking for codes, I linked to where Joystiq was giving them away in the OP (unless they've run out). That's where I got mine.
Yeah it says they're out. Had no idea they were giving away keys. Mostly because I hate Joystiq
Beta just opened up yesterday for anyone who hasn't had the chance to play this yet. Going to try it out tomorrow night unless someone can give me a good reason not to.
Is this set up on a rental system or a purchase system?
I suppose I can see the advantages of that, but I'm very distrustful of most rental systems in games. For their sake I hope they got it right.
Anyone playing this right now? I've leveled my girl up to Level 3 Agent and so far I'm digging the game.
Also is there a manual somewhere or a good guide?
I'm going to be trying this out some tonight now that it's open to all.

Same. I'll be playing as stuntrush.
I'm on this game for the rest of the night. I friended (ingame) Stunt Rush and Mannishboy. I'm trying to find Thin_J.

I haven't actually logged into Blacklight yet, so it might not be there. I'll send invites here shortly. I'm getting delayed. People have been giving out Counter-Strike: GO beta keys on twitter and I've been putting off playing blacklight trying to get in on the last round, but they haven't mentioned the last group of keys for today yet.
Here is my new gun-toting sweetie.
Does spending in-game currency in the game reduce the GP reward at end-of-match?
The guns feel terrible and the netcode is apparently awful.
Uninstalled and out.
I friended you guys, but you can go ahead and refuse that. Not going to be playing anymore.
Awful. Just... awful.
Also, hit registration/notification feels weird, but that may be netcode, too.
This was more what I was pointing at the netcode about. Nothing in this game feels right at all.
I got 1st place in the one match that actually got to finish (the other two games dropped close to the end due to "losing connection to the host" and I got nothing for them) and had zero fun. I got kills I shouldn't have and didn't get several that I should have, all because none of the guns or the way they react or the hit detection or any of it feels like it makes any sense at all. It felt like somebody shoved the combat from the first Mass Effect into a multiplayer FPS, like there were a bunch of dicerolls going on behind the scenes and I had no real control over whether I won a fight or not.
Hmm. I like this game but as it stands I ran out of things to do. And I hope for a larger arena or battleground or a multi-stage objective map. That'd be cool. One of the developers/community managers tweeted back to me about more content coming and possibly some version of a horde/zombie mode. That could be cool. (I like the word cool. Is that cool with you? Cool.)
And the lag. Holy jeebus. Much like Thin_J I too found myself making kills when I shouldn't have and being killed when I think I shouldn't have.
So, until Planetside 2 gets here and consumes my life with its persistent world it's off to Tribes Ascend.
UPDATE: The developers are patching what they call a memory leak to solve the high ping problem.
I finally bought my first permanent item - a low-level suppressor. Cost me about 3,200 gold pieces. And now I just lost about 200 GP .. somewhere. Well, it's still in beta so I am gonna not lose my poop.
I'M HAVING FUN HERE. I MIGHT BE POORLY DRESSED TO BOOT. HARD TO NOTICE WITH ALL THE FUN I'M HAVING. HERE..
So I got accepted to the beta a while ago but only had a chance to try this today. I think it's in full release now. I have to say, I'm very impressed. I didn't really care for Blacklight Tango Down and didn't have high expectations but this is really fun. It throws a lot of customisation and levelling stuff at you right away and you'll initially be overwhelmed with tutorial messages that never seem to end but there's incredible depth here if you want to get into it. The UI is absolutely fabulous and this is a tried and true PC game. You can even set separate mouse sensitivity levels for when you're in and out of iron sights. The maps are nicely designed and the action's very solid. I'd definitely suggest some Goodjers check this out. I see this and Tribes taking up most of my multiplayer time for a while.
I'm going to download this tonight based off the recommendation of a co-worker. Is anyone here still playing it?
