At my house I have a Windows PC that is left on 24/7 and all of our media is stored on it. We use various server applications (PS3 Media Server, Audiogalaxy) to share the content with the rest of our devices. For other PCs, we just use regular file sharing and browse the file system directly. The problem now is that my wife's laptop broke and she was given a Chromebook from my sister in law. From what I can tell the only way to access shared media on the Chromebook is to share it through HTTP and access the videos through the web. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of setup? It looks like VLC can do it but I'm having trouble getting it working.
