I don't know the damage model of the HE rounds but I did try to finish off a tank with them to little effect. Since then I've not bothered to try them and I've stuck with the default bolts since.

I think they're mainly for light vehicles like in Aftermath. Or lucky air vehicle hits.

Yeah, I know that they do good damage to light helicopters and lightly armored vehicles. I just tried it on a tank that was about to explode and after firing off at least 4 shots I was disappointed that it still didn't explode.

Eeek. I got hammered last night. Really hate those nights where you feel like you are glowing more than Rudolph's nose.

Hopefully tonight is better and I don't have some giant tracking ball stuck to my back.

That would be worse for me. I can't go back and forth.

The funny thing was I tried a round of hardcore. It was worse. Actually had more deaths than kills. That for me is yeah.... bad. I normally end up with a 2 KD or above.

I think it was just one of those nights. Even skill dropped by 100 points.

When I jump over to Hardcore it's like I'm playing a different game. I get annihilated. I play too aggressively for it. Vehicles seem too powerful.

Double kills with the Xbow are amazingly gratifying. Especially when you shoot someone right after they poop out a squadmate and they both die from it. The HE bolt is useless. You have a better chance of shooting through the windshield of a chopper or light vehicle to get the kill than blowing one up with the HE bolt. Unfortunately, useless so far.

Finally, I had a chance to play more Scavenger today and it really highlights the fact that you can run around with the 93R as a damn primary. It doesn't bother me that much, but virtually everyone was using it and it is a very effective weapon in its own right. The mode is a lot of fun though, I enjoy it.

I really like the revolvers for their range and one shot heatshots in this mode. I wish the REX had better sights, though.

The REX sights is the only thing stopping me from using it in Scav. I like it as a sidearm while playing other modes but it's too hard to line up mid range shots with it when it's all you have. Switched to the 1911 and having good success with it. Not sure what its damage tables are but it seems to do pretty decent damage at range and it has a nice sight.

Most scavenger games I see a lot of the Magnum and the 1911.

I used the 1911 a lot when the game came out. I tried it in scavenger, too. But I keep coming back to both revolvers for scavenger. Lately I've been using the Rex more for the faster fire rate.

Yeah, I really take a beating in HC, but the lack of red dot spotting and self healing vehicles make me prefer it. Weapon balance feels like less of an issue because everything packs a lethal punch.

I feel like they nailed these maps and I hope the last DLC continues the trend.

I'm all about the M9! Wish it fired as fast as in BC2 though, I loved the M9 in that.

mp443 still fires as fast as it used to in BC2.

So fast, it fires double!

Anybody dealt with a no sound bug?

I've had it on 360 occasionally.

There's a new Premium vid mainly showing motorcycles in End Game.

Sweet at the end of the video it looks like there will be a standard Capture the Flag mode. I'm not sure this is new information but that could be really interesting for BF3.

so underwhelmed =/

the most exciting thing in that video, as gimpy pointed out, was the 'new' minimap.

I like the Fall foliage of the map but need to see more before I get excited or not.

I'm on PC, not getting any sound at all. Cycled audio settings in game, alt tabbed and made sure the volume was up for it in the mixer.

Are you not getting any sound after restarting the game, and also restarting your computer? If so I imagine you may need to repair your install because that just seems really weird.

I'm also on PC. When it happens to me is when i first start the game in window mode and then maximize the window. I lose all game sound, but when i goto options (or change to any menu) it starts back up.

If it's just the game i'd look at the audio settings and make sure they match your setup.

Right, that's in the text, too. "Return of the classic Capture The Flag game mode"

I've rarely enjoyed CTF in games with randoms, so I'm not initially excited.

There's good reason to not be too excited about a CTF game mode. Without a decent number of people on coms there isn't going to be a lot of teamwork to get the flag.

I'm just being an optimist and considering the best case scenario for playing the game and everything working in my favor.

So Origin just downloaded a 3GB patch today for BF3... anyone else get this?
