The Playstation Vita Catch-All

I upgraded my 3DS memory this weekend and it cost me $18 for 16GB. And I didn't even really shop around. And I bought the class 10 memory. The gulf between memory prices for one handheld and the other couldn't be wider.

Sometimes I think Sony is bipolar. Because the Vita's memory price-gouging is a complete 180 from the PS3 having the absolute best memory storage solution of the current console generation - standard hard drive compatibility!

I believe they phased that out with the later-model PS3s. I've said this before, but they seem to have taken a lesson from what MS has gotten away with in regards to accessory pricing.

The Wii U allows for any standard hard drives, but I think it gets weird with regards to tying a hard drive/SD card to a particular physical system. A non-issue for me but I was listening to an older podcast and the people were bitching about this because that's a detriment to how they do their jobs.

Giant Bomb? But still save games should be agnostic for systems. I feel like easy cloud saving would benefit the user and even people who make achievement systems as well.

Hey all, so Idk who has played most (or some of) Sly cooper Thieves in time, I have a few questions. Are there a decent amount of Murray Missions? are they 1/3rd of the game? Playing as him for just a short bit in the demo was painful. The only Sly cooper games I played were the first 2 back when they first came out, and I feel like this one may kill my once most beloved game. Also, I couldnt skip the story beats, and they weren't exactly grabbing me like they did when I was in grade school haha I assume thats the same in the full version too....
SO what are some other recent releases I should look into? haha

Rumored autumn release.

I don't know how excited anybody should be about VH3. VH1 and VH2 got smacked down by the critics, and given how disjointed that trailer is I wouldn't be surprised if this one turns out bad too.

I replayed chapter one and two on "Hardboiled Mode" last night (I don't if that's available before you beat the game or not but I'm trying it now) and that's definitely more challenging. Certainly enough to make it worth playing again.

I still want the big, new property, Vita exclusive experience titles on this thing... but these PSN games are exactly what I was hoping for with this system. More than enough to justify owning it.

When I have more time I'd like to share the current games I've already bought/played + what's on my "Purchase Soon" list to see how much matches up with you guys. I didn't realize just HOW MUCH GAMING there is/has been on the Vita for ME until I made the list. Wow.

I bought it yesterday on Fyedaddy's recommendation. I trust his opinions on this stuff. This is all coming at an interesting time with the new console cycle starting. I've began to seriously consider that I might not upgrade either console as most of my gaming has moved to the 3DS and Vita.

Pressure! Ack!

I'm in that boat and have sworn off future consoles (another reason I'm making more commitments to my Vita purchases). Between the dusty 360/Wii/DS, this new Vita, and my trusty PC, I'm all set for digital gaming. I wish the 720 and PS4 the best of luck but I'm done.

I think that's the final way the loop closes for me. A PC, I mean. Once I finish Journey and Valkyria Chronicles the PS3 will eventually go away. The XBox has my Dark Souls save so that's not going anywhere. But I think my next console is a gaming PC.

If all works as described, players will be able to suspend and transfer a PlayStation 4 gaming experience to their Vitas with a push of a button.

I'm excited!

The thing tha makes me want a ps4 ATM is being able to remote play all games for it, that seems pretty cool lol some of the things did look pretty cool from the event last night, but overall any major shifts in graphics or capabilities of AI will be on the PC as well and I need a good rig for work etc so I won't be falling behind there lol

Anyone pick up the Urban Freestyle release yet? I'm waiting for more reviews aside from "it was better on the 360".

Official word is that there will not be a vita price drop in North America.

You have to be kidding me.

If that's true then it's really tone deaf. That Sony press conference had the feeling of a company that understood they had to right the ship and they had to right the ship immediately. One example being the doubling of the RAM. Or keeping the RAM at the level of the dev kits, depending on how you look at it. They must know that they can't just tread water this generation. They have to do really well. And they might have to take some losses initially. The alternative is that they're going under or changing dramatically, so what do they have to lose?

It looks like a me-too of Trials, and the action scenes are very impressive. At $10 it would've been a no-brainer for Vita, but the exclusion of the set piece moments that set it apart from Trials really bums me out.

I'm not ready to believe it yet. That was a question answered by a single executive in an after-hours interview. Nobody ever, ever answers questions like that honestly in that setting. If there is going to be a price drop, it will be announced through the usual channels, and it will be 100% denied until it is announced through those channels.

I bought it and I think it's pretty good, though maybe a tad on the easy side so far. No doubt it's a Trials clone, but I spent about an hour with it and I felt like my $8 was well spent. YMMV, I guess, but I'm sure I can name 4 $2 iphone apps that I've enjoyed way less.

There's a demo, so no reason not to at least download that.

If all it turns out to be is a respectable Trials clone on the Vita for under $10 then I'd be happy with that.

I sold my Vita over the summer, but I bought a new one last weekend... My home gut burgled a few weeks ago, among other stuff they took my Xbox 360 and since I am on the move a lot more these days (girl in another country, trip to a customer by train once a week) I decided to replace the 360 with a Vita when the money from my insurance came in. Didn't buy any games since I had some stuff in my psn account (Lumines, P3P) but I did buy a PS+ subscription. So now I'm playing P3P when I have more time and Lumines when I have a little. And Uncharted and Gravity Rush are waiting for me to play them...

Breaking news:

The next patch for Sound Shapes will allow community levels to be played offline. YEEEEEEES.

That's great news. Now I need to figure out which to play.

Nice sales here: PSN Update

Looks as though it's time to add PS All-Stars, Smart As..., and Sound Shapes to my Vita (I've been waiting for a price drop on the first two). Plus I'll grab PvZ while I'm at it despite having played it so darned much on my iPhone already.

Edit: OH, and I would highly recommend Super Stardust Delta and Hot Shots Golf to anyone that doesn't already have it.

Unit 13, HSG and MLB 12 are all pretty tempting. What was the final verdict on MLB 12?

Super Stardust Delta and Unit 13 are both really good. Unit 13 surprised me. I still really want to co-op that at some point if someone picks it up.

I couldn't stand MLB 12 and I know Jayhawker was equally negative. The series just isn't interactive enough for me.

Can someone post how much Unit 13 is fo plus? And PS All Stars, and whether its for PS3 or Vita. I think I may like it more on a TV. I can't see the link's details on my phone.

So it turns out I just bought a slightly used Vita. I already subscribe to PS+ and plan on picking up Sound Shapes since I've been interested in it for a while. Someone explain to me what Unit 13 is. Is it basically just a mobile SOCOM?

Too bad about MLB...maybe I'll just stick with Unit 13 and HSG.

Edit: Kuddles - yes, Unit 13 is a sort of portable SOCOM. Missions are short and are designed to be repeated with scoring, sort of like Bulletstorm. There's a demo that will give you a better idea of if you'd like it.

Damn it, if PvZ supports custom tracks I know I'll end up playing it again.

And, it does. Crap.

I would note that a lot of people do really like MLB 12. If you like the PS3 version, most claim that the Vita version is surprisingly similar.

I feel like the game kind of plays itself too much. It didn't keep my attention at all.
