Your access to Pandemonium makes you dangerous. DANGEROUS I sez!

Are you nuts? Have you seen the stats for Pandemonium? It's a beast. Boom.

sTUIPIDAKJADKFLMASKLDNMAKFGOIUEHAW0U908&!!!!!!!

Mountain-walking Tree of Woe stealer! I'm gonna get ya!

For never was a story of more woe than this of Strangeblades and his Tree of Woe?

No, that doesn't work. Firstly, you can't rhyme woe with woe. But most importantly, it's not his Tree of Woe, it's mine. Mine! Muahahahahahahaha!!!

Ahem.

This is the diplomacy screen:

IMAGE(http://albin.abo.fi/user/shoglund/stuff/Diplomacy.jpg)

(I'm the charming looking fella in the armor there, Severus)

It's worth paying attention to. Not only because it shows the current standings, or because you can check what's known about the other archfiends, or who's fighting whom, but because it shows who has the conclave token, and consequently how the turns are going to resolve.

Actions are resolved clockwise, starting with whoever has the token, which itself moves clockwise amongst the fiends. So if two fiends move onto the same tile, the one with the token, or first in line after is the one that's gonna conquer it.

The turn previously, I'd tried to take the Temple of Lust and failed. Now, I could have made a second go at it since I got it down to half its hitpoints, but noone else in the vicinity seemed like they'd be able to take it*, and I'd ended up within striking distance of the Tree of Woe. Which Strangeblades (Sepulchre) had similarly softened up, and was about to take.

Sure, there was a mountain between my legion and the Tree, but my personal legion has a nifty special abilty, mountainwalk, which lets it move through mountains like they're regular tiles.

A brief consultation with the diplomacy screen tells me, that yes, I'll beat him to the punch. So, a choice between taking a precious resource, or taking a less precious resource while simultaneously denying another fiend? For one that would rule Hell, that's no choice at all.

Hence:

IMAGE(http://albin.abo.fi/user/shoglund/stuff/Woe.jpg)

*That's not an entirely safe assumption, mind you. A legion's apparent strength won't tell the whole story, players can use rituals and such to let legions punch above their weight.

.....grrrrrrr

I'll post an AAR report on turns 6 to 8 tomorrow. I'm just too tired to think. So I played XCOM instead. Luckily, no one died.

Cool!

Now, just so I can get clear on your use of Da Englizh, by "tomorrow" you mean...?

Turn 6, 7 and 8 coming up shortly.

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/7VHuLht.png)
See? Letting the Tree of Woe slip from my fingers was totally part of my plan.

Turn 6, 7 and 8 will not go down in history after all. In fact, they will be redacted from my general's log books. Of course, I'm not sure what to do with General Demon Logbook who is actually a book, but I'll think of something.

So, my carefully planned and schemed plan-scheme didn't go as schemed-planned. Dang. I was hoping to seize the Tree but as Alien Love Gardener pointed out he took it before me thanks to his mountain walk ability. I need to find another place of power.

Oh hey there. I might take a run at that Altar of Abomination again. That'd be the Place of Power circled in blue.

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/6JDPfG9.png?1)
Never gonna give you up Altar.

If I manage to take it it will mean a nice pipeline of Prestige. Right now there are only two players with a strong Prestige lead.

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/9CUPfdO.png)
The leads have their Prestige circled in blue and red.

If you want to win you got to catch up. There are many items, tokens, spells, harsh words, Prateors (generals) and what-not to get Prestige, steal Prestige or destroy Prestige. Places of Power are the most common way of earning that sauce. My next actions aren't as sexy as trying to bash something in submission but I feel I gotta put my mark on the land. I send my hired guns and my reformed personal guard out to lay stakes. You can see their planned progress with the gold arrowheads.

Follow the yellow-brick road.

Turn 10: In where I dig into the tickle trunk of terror to find some spells, charms and curses.

So...you bought one of those nasty praetors didntcha?!

I've been playing my first game ever of this with some co-workers recently. Only one of us has ever played before, so the rest of us sort of ganged up on him. So many harsh lessons learned though.... I tried to go the Cunning route, but utterly misunderstood some mechanics, and will finish dead last as a result.

Once you guys finish this game here, I'd love to play a match with the community.

It's a complex game. There's lots of layers to it. I have to admit I don't really play to win. I mean, I want to win, but I just build the guy/situation that I have fun with. There's so many paths and how well balanced it is, is really unclear.

I do wish the multi-player was not so clumsy in terms of file swaps, as it slows down how quickly it plays.

What? Who? Crazy talk, man, crazy talk.

Sure thing. There's already a couple of peeps who frequent this thread who are interested in another game. You could try posting the request here for your own matches. When the game I'm running runs out I'll be looking for new players again.

Vic's new game is up for beta purchase. $15.

Here's the thread spelk created for it.

Is this where I gloat? I'm pretty sure it is.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just to clarify, I was gloating over killing three of Abbadon's legions and stealing a place of of power during his ill-conceived vendetta against me.

But if you want to seethe in jealousy over my 100-ish Prestige lead over the second place, that's cool too.

First place is the most dangerous place to be in SI.....

Truth.

Because I believe this thread has had the most traction over any Vic Davis game I'll post this news here: Vic Davis is retiring from video games and moving onto board games. Not surprising in the least.

Sad, though. I love his games and he's a nice guy to boot. I wish him all the best!

Yeah, that's a bummer. I love Vic Davis' games.

Yeah, he sounded pretty disillusioned/burned-out when I interviewed him last year. I am grateful for all the fun I've had with his games, and I wish him all the best.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaatttt???!!!?!?!?!?!?!?

I LOVED this game. Still have the install sitting somewhere on this computer.

Really? Wowsers. I would have to re-download it from somewhere and I don't know from where. I purchased it a million years ago.

I actually played a few MP games with GWJers, back in the day. Glad to see it got picked up, for us and for Vic. Definitely a nail-biter of an MP game. Wheeling and dealing and backstabbing and all sorts of chicanery going on.
