Yeah pushing this back on the PC to May has made me decide to pick up the XBox version.
I grabbed the 360 version for $50 on a lightning deal. I'll be trying to hand back the RB3 Squire to best buy and then seeing about picking up a basic guitar, probably will hit up a local guitar shop to do that.
FWIW, the cord works perfectly with the PC (I mean, perfectly, with no installs) and if you check out Podunk's handy dandy guide, there's a lot of stuff out there to play with: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/1...
I'm anxious for the PC version to come out, hoping the community can hack it so that you can enter your own notation. It'd be awesome to write out riffs in Guitar Pro and insert them into the Rocksmith engine for training purposes. I mean it would be awesome if that was native to the game but I don't see it happening.
[Edit] I'd also really like to see Scale Runner expanded. It'd be great if they had more than just 6th string root, first box patterns. And note names. Oh four notes per string patterns.
So is anyone else spending any time on the games? Apparently Elysium is the only person on my friends list trying them as he's the only one I see on the filtered leaderboard.
I've taken a couple of swipes at them but i still suck so much. I'm still working on building calluses back and remember what string is what in the tabulature.
After skimming most of this thread: Is it the general consensus that the bundled guitar is good enough? I do have friends who play guitar maybe I should grab just the game and bum a guitar off them.
I tried learning back in the 90's with some god awful software on my Mac; ended up trading in the guitar on something I knew how to use, a rifle.
If I have tendonitis in my left wrist, will this cause issues in learning the guitar (I'm right handed)?

Think thats the issue i'm trying to overcome. It'll hurt to start, but will get better with practice.
So this is supposedly the next DLC:
3 tracks from megadeth coming:"Symphony of destruction"
"Hangar 18"
"Public Enemy No. 1"

Really hoping I get this for Christmas, and this'll probably be the first DLC I buy for a game I don't even own yet.
My fingertips hurt.
And tonight I will sit down and practice finding the correct string with the pick. Years of bad Plastic guitar habits to unlearn. I was utterly destroyed when they moved from yellow red yellow yellow to yellow blue red yellow red blue blue. The brain seized up and I stared at the guitar like a monkey.
Dear Riff Repeater,
Why you gotta be like that? I just want to practice that riff for awhile. It's tough, I know. You don't have to rub it in. I just want to keep playing it over and over, until I get it right. But you seem to think it's better if I go back to the main menu every so often and THINK ABOUT WHAT I DID. I'll be honest, so far that's not helping me very much. I just wanna play, man.
Yours,
B
I find it frustrating too but I think I understand it. I think of it as a little break. If you try the same thing over and over again sometimes it best to take a pause clear your mind and try again.
I was getting frustrated with a lick. I failed 5 times. I took a deep breath played the section slowly and deliberately then went back in and nailed the section.
Sometimes it's good to take a 30sec break.
Oh, and my callouses are back. Woo!

I might be in the same boat now... Hummm
Doooo eeeeet.

ENABLER!!! But I guess my les paul should be treated to an xmas gift...
360 version's at home, but wife is making me wait until Christmas. Now to see if Best Buy will take back the Squier, even if just for store credit.
Or you might find someone near you to buy it.
Yeah, they stopped making the Squier, so if BB won't take it back you should be able to unload it.
Did they actually stop making it this time? Last time around it was just a rumor.

If you don't buy it, you'll miss out on 6 months of awesome rockin', I mean, it's a no-brainer
I definitely plan to buy it again on PC...

From what I gathered, Fender didn't discontinue, they just said the supply channels were saturated and they stopped production. But a lot of people were having problems getting them because stocks were scattered and stores thought they had been discontinued. It was another CF in the whole RB3 fiasco history. Don't read that the wrong way, I love the Rock Band series, but RB3 has been plagued with hardware issues from their partners.
Woohoo! Just sat down and worked up my 20G "200k on Master Mode" achievement. Granted it was only on Next Girl but I don't know if I want to work up anything much harder until Riff Repeater is patched. That should be worth some good TA points though.
LiquidMantis wrote:According to this thread, the PC version has been pushed back to May. The big patch is looking like late January. I guess I'm okay with that. If they incorporate all the tweaks that they've said they're looking at from feedback then it's a fairly big revamp.
Wow, all the way to May. I almost broke my resolve and picked it up for the PS3 over black Friday, but managed to stay strong. I want it for PC, but I think waiting my cause me to jump on to the PS3 bandwagon. Maybe once I have some actual x-mas cash in hand I will break down and grab it, until then, I will just have to practice the non-video game way.
This. So sad to hear it. I'm going to hold out for something I can hook up to my laptop, though. I'll cave if the PS3 version gets super cheap, though. I'll admit my weakness freely.
Thank you, QotSA and Go With the Flow for my 500 and 750 note streak achievements.
ENABLERS!!! All of you! ENABLERS!!! I bought the 360 version today. I have to say after about 1.5 hours I am very impressed with the way it scales and the features. I will echo some of the pains mentioned above, but over all worth every penny. Besides my Les Paul needed a xmas gift!
I'm selling my 360 bundle in this thread if anyone is interested

Just a little advice... In my opinion the main thing for a first guitar is to find something that will stay in tune. Otherwise you'll only get frustrated as your axe falls out of tune mid-song and the notes stop registering.
