Penguincon 2011: It was Fedorable

There was a conference room for board games. Granted, no one was playing them either.

I think a lack of table space might have been a problem. Other than the Dominion game & the perpetual WoW CCG game, I don't remember other games popping up except for my half-awake attempt at playing Winhandler on someone's desk. Also, maybe scheduling to teach a game could be factored in. If we stick to strict times, maybe add a 10 minute training before the game actually starts? I would love to try games but don't want to interfere with everyone's fun by bogging it down with rules questions.

I'll be there for Rock Band, so there better be a solid set of console love.

I'd imagine I'm on it. I have a full ION kit with three cymbals, a real kick pedal, a high hat pedal, and a midi box that makes it compatible with pro drums. I also have a 48-key keyboard with a midi box to go with it. Add to that two Rock Band 1 guitars with the new strum bar (so they don't suck). Finally, I have all three Rock Band games + the Beatles Rock Band with a ton of downloadable content. Sadly I am missing a regular for Rock Band kit. I know that the ION kit can be a bit intimidating at first, and really, it's likely to be setup for me making it hard for others to play it without tweaking it every time someone different sits down at the set. I also only have one real mic, but I've used a headset as a second mic before and it works swimmingly.

If I'm allowed to attend (and all our time isn't taken up by TF2), I'd love to play more board games. I really need to play BSG and I'd like to fire up Arkham Horror again.

Hells yeah. If I can make it, I might have to get out the Game of Thrones board game as well.

And my axe.

Seriously, I intend on playing more boardgames, too. I'm a PC and board gamer, so I may not use a console once this year.

I am sure my arm can be twisted into some Smash Bros or Street Fighter, but I am hoping for full games of BSG, I will be bringing my Last Night on Earth and Growing Hunger expansion. I have always wanted to try Arkham Horror.

And this is why I want it to be Fri-Sun, so we have time for all of our nonsense (and drinking) =)

SOs would be perfectly welcome, I think...provided they know what they're getting into.

Yes. I cannot be held responsible for bored SOs.

I talked to Jake about it last night. He said he is interested in going, however, he will probably get a hotel room nearby. When he gets over nerded out or had enough of our shenanigans he can get away.

I might get nerded out too. Anyone want to check out the Hall of Fame?

For the record, if this is going to be a Friday - Sunday thing, I'm getting a hotel room, too. I'm not going 3 days without a shower and a change of clothes.

Hey Oily, more leg work for you. But any chance you can see if a local hotel/motel would offer a group rate?

Yah, if I can work it out to road trip out there, I would be getting a room.

Sleeping on the hard ground in the office building worked out great last year! C'mon!

I actually brought an air mattress, bedding and pillows.

Oh! You were the guy we had to wake up two hours after everyone else got up and started cleaning!

Yes he was. Mike is a treasure.

But take it down a notch, folks. I'm willing to bet that the best place to hold this thing will be in a hotel so I wouldn't worry about rooms.

If it turns out we can find something cheaper than renting hotel conference space, then yes, I'll take a headcount and see what we can do about getting a group rate on rooms. Hopefully keeping the rooms close to one another so people can still hang out.

Which one? We have the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and an hour south there's the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton.

The NFL Hall of Fame is kind of cool if your a diehard sports fan. I haven't gone to the Rock & Roll one yet.

You don't have to be a diehard sports nut to enjoy the Football Hall of Fame, if you ask me; I think that history buffs would get a kick out of some of the exhibits too.

Some of us slept, some of us were in a dangerous coma state (coughLupuscough).

Well, we can cuddle too. Have a pillow fight.

I have done the Rock &Roll HoF with a friend last year and it was pretty entertaining. I am not the music buff that she is, so she enjoyed it more...but it was pretty cool.
