Penguincon 2011: It was Fedorable

I was seriously considering loading up the car and driving from MA for this, but I already have plans that weekend. LAN it up in my name.

I know I can't commit quite yet, but this sure is sounding like a blast. Where else can I get picked on in person with so many people I've never seen? This sounds great.

I guess I had better start getting into convention shape and toning my abs, as I just registered.

You'll be interested to learn that Sally is not actually SallyNasty's real name.

Science fact.

I own a car now. Should be able to make the 8h drive. So if anyone along the Albany,NY - Syracuse - Rochester - Buffalo - Cleveland, OH route needs a ride, let me know.

Registered for the swanky package.

Nice work, Luggage =)

Fed! you caved!

Attaboy!

You know what eases the simmering jealousy of not going to rabbitcon?

Have 4 people sign up today =)

I think I'm going to look into requesting that weekend off work in the next day or so. Can't RSVP until I'm sure I get that vacation time approved though.

Hopefully it works out.

Glad we could all help.

Just did the RSVP thingy (swanky ofc) and put my name on the car pool list. Limited time offer: carpool with FedMcQ and sapient pearwood from the counterweight continent (i.e. Europe).

I'd also be down with organizing or administrating some of the tournaments, if you need some help, Oily P.

This thread is making me dislike my in-laws more and more.... stupid apple butter! grrrrrr.

Just tell them you'd like to explore a little and that nothing could go wrong because of it...

@ Mono: I've got to think you can figure something out. Make a special trip out there with the kid before to free up that weekend?

I like the spirit but apple butter is when her whole extended family gets together, there are usually about 75-100 people there, not just my mother and father-in-law.... I toyed with the idea of coming out on Thursday and then leaving late Friday to be there on Saturday, but I am not sure how much driving we will be able to do with a 1 month old baby...

Booked my hotel room. JP (I'm still trying to get him to create an account here) will be coming with as well. Plan at this point will be to bring at least ten gallons of homebrew. I'll have my own kegs, tappers and CO2.
It's early yet and I hadn't given a ton of thought as to what I'll brew. Perhaps a pale ale and something darker (a nice porter perhaps)? I'm not set up for lagering so they have to be ales of some form.

You and I are going to be friends, I can tell already.

So is the consensus sugar free or regular redbull? Or a mix?

If my vote counts - the darker the better.

You're awesome for doing this, btw.

Would love a porter or a good imperial stout =)

Mix it up, boogle. Mix it up.

Alrighty. I won't make anymore mead. That was a potion I would force on no man. Well I might refine the recipe.

Can you do an India Pale Ale? I love a good +7% alcohol IPA that can degrease an engine and inebriate me in a single beer.

It seems I will be the single non-intoxicated person there.
Should be interesting :p

I was sober at the last event and it was still a blast. I'm hoping to power through my diet this summer so I can have some extra calories for beer & junk food for Penguincon.

Nah, I don't drink as much as these guys either. I will have a beer or two, but not enough to get drunk.

If Min-Pen-Con is any indicator other then the DGR crew, Cheeto and Penguin most people don't get super tipsy, just lubricated. And my wife and I were not the only none drunkards there so you should be safe.

I'll feed Tigerbill drinks until he sleeps with me.

You'd have better luck with bacon cheeseburgers.

Don't listen to him, the man grills burgers like a demigod, he can supply himself with ALL the bacon cheeseburgers he could ever need.
