Possible Turbine (LOTRO/DDO) forum security breach

Today I received an e-mail from Turbine stating that someone had attempted to access the LOTRO forum database and that I should probably change my password. They said if I already changed it after the 11th then no further action is necessary, so I guess that's when they detected the attempted intrusion.

Anyone else receive anything like that?

I got the same thing. Word for word. I have yet to change my password but I was wondering if it was a very good scam email.

Got this as well.

Looked legit to me.

I logged in outside of the email and changed my pw just in case.

The DDO forums were down for a while, so I suspect it is connected.

It is a legit email, confirmed by Turbine devs. Their forums were down most of last week with a notice that they were dealing with an "issue."

I got it too. I'm very happy to say that I was completely nonplussed by it, now that I've switched over to LastPass a few weeks ago. Changing my password took me 5 clicks, and zero thought or worry about forgetting it.

Got the email too. And there was talk about the possible breach on Massively.com

Changed both forum and account passwords just in case. Like merphle, LastPass made it easy.

This is what I generally do, and what I did. There is no need to use any link provided in an unsolicited e-mail like that. Just go to the site and change it yourself. If it was a scam, no harm done. If it wasn't, you're protected.
