Nyxs, if you're still offering paint schemes, I'd love to have one for my Gen6 Fusion
I just saw this. Oddly enough I was forced to rebuild my PC last weekend and haven't gotten to install Photoshop yet.
I would be happy to paint you up something. Let me get PS and my Wacom hooked back up and I'll get started.
What logos / sponsors do you prefer? Also - do you have a color preference?
I was hoping for an Aric Almirola Smithfield car:

The very bottom picture would be the best one to look off of.
Should be easy enough to accomplish for you. I'll try and get it cranked out this weekend. PM me your email address and we can take the rest of this conversation private.
I would like to post up pictures of your final car here if it's ok, just to show the gwj crowd. (assuming you like and accept the work - it could turn out sh*tty)
Sounds fine to me! PM sent
Well, Mountaineer seemed to like it so here's the results of the paint this weekend.
He requested this:
He got this:
I just wish Iracing would let us change the positioning of the numbers. It would be much better if they could come down on the side about 4 inches and allow a bit more room to work over them.
Oh well - I work within the parameters I'm given I guess....
Love it! Still haven't quite figured out the new Trading Paints thing; I guess it just runs in the background and downloads the paints of the people in the session? I'm just worried about it bogging down my framerate, and I don't have a way of verifying that's how it works until I race with my league, since they're the only ones that I know for sure have custom paint schemes.
Great job though Nyxs! I always love having my custom paints! If you get bored I'd be happy to give you more lol
Trading paints doesn't take up much room or memory when it's running. It just idles in the background, and when someone joins your session it updates their paint scheme for you.
When it's happened to me in the past, the most I've noticed is my car will turn white, then turn back to my paint job - within about a second. That is my way of knowing that someone just logged in with a custom skin.
You can check to see if it's working with your own skin as well. Just make sure it's uploaded to the TP site (if it's a fresh upload, give it about 5 minutes to become active).
Make sure it's not already in your documents\iracing\cars\paints\ (not sure of directory structure exactly, but something like that) folder.
If you see the TGA already in your folder, delete or move it eslewhere.
Then start TP, Launch iracing and pick a track to test on.
When you click the TEST button, as it begins to load, the little green bar on the iracing load window will for the briefest of time flash yellow, then it will go green and start moving. That little flash of yellow is TP doing its thing and injecting your car paint job into the game.
Looks awesome! I need to decide which Gen 6 car to get for next season.
Mountaineer forced me to buy about $70 worth of stuff this weekend. I told my wife it was all his fault cause he wanted me to paint a car I didn't own...and I'll need a new track to take it out on when i'm done.... Oh, and I'll need the Chevy SS to be able to take some comparison shots..and...I don't think I have the McLaren yet either.......
so I'm out a few bucks....
Damn that Mountaineer guy!
oops? lol I don't know whether to apologize or say "you're welcome"
Decided to paint up a quickie for me - in case I decide to try an oval. Whatcha think?

Needs more cowbell.
Ok so I'm gonna raise this thread once more and try to stir up some racin action. Finally FINALLY I have my PC issues worked out. It got to where I couldn't even run windows for more than 15 minutes before a blue screen. So, I built a whole new one and did the 3 screen thing that's becoming so popular lately.
Now, who's up for some racing? I was thinking we could do another street stock at Charlotte like we did a while back. Easy oval racing. Say this Saturday about 1pm eastern time? I'll pay for the track/server.
Any interest?
Nyxs
I think I can make that time. I'm not an oval guy but I'm sure I can generate some flags to keep things interesting.
I can't make that time - but I am good most weeknights after 930 EST
Would weeknights work better for all involved? I would be happy to make it a Tuesday night thing (or other night).
I'm one of the few fortunate ones where all the kids are up and grown and my wife understands the addiction I have with colored pixels so any night is really ok.
Tuesday night is good for me.
Why not try running a couple of practice sessions next Tuesday (April 16th). I generally race road circuits as well but I am happy to try some oval racing.
Has anyone ever rented a server? I would give that a try if we got enough interest
Haven't been on the forums for the past few days so I'm a few days behind but I would definitely be interested in doing a GWJ iRacing event. I'm free weeknights after about 6 pm EST (for now; I'm in the process of finding a new job). I'm free weekends, too, but times just depends on what I may or may not have going on.
So I have this brand new Logitech wheel thanks to Euro Truck but I feel like I need to have something else to justify it beyond that one game. LiquidMantis and MountaineerWR27 have kindly pointed me over here.
Now the last driving game I played was... Carmageddon so yeah, I'm not exactly up on my simulators. Liquid pointed me to iRacing but I'm not sure I want to dive directly into that pool. Can someone recommend something in the shallow end of the racing pool so I can see how well I do before I get myself involved in something too advanced that makes me walk away in confusion?
There are a number of Simbin's better racing games on Steam for cheap. GTR-FIA and GT Legends are both dirt cheap and chock full of good wheel racing. I'd also reccomend a look at rFactor though I haven't messed with it in a few years.
I'd be interested in checking out this iRacing, but I need to spend some time with my wheel first and make sure I still have my chops.

If you're worried about the cost of iRacing, there's plenty of offers where you can anything from 3 months free, to free content plus 3 months for the price of one, etc.
Since I'm pretty much exclusively an oval junkie, I'm pretty high on iRacing (I have heard complaints from people saying iRacing focuses too much on oval drivers and not enough on road; I say GREAT!). Because of that, I probably won't be of much help suggesting other sims. You might try one of the F1 games, or Shift 2 Unleashed. I think those have been classified as a healthy sim/arcade mix; more on the sim side, but fairly light.
Not the cost as much as the learning curve. I've discovered that I'm... not very good at this.
I followed Chesspieceface's advice and picked up GTR 2 FIA on Steam and found the learning curve is steep on these things. Got stuck on the third level of the tutorial. Then I tried a solo run and could barely keep it on the track. So I'm not opposed to iRacing, it's just that it would be a waste on me right now since I can barely drive at the moment. Let me figure out what I'm supposed to be doing and I'll think about jumping in then.
Don't rush to get into the monster cars. I've just been driving the MX5 in iRacing and having a lot of fun with it. I'm also in a league that's focused on driver training and it's been extremely beneficial.

I know what you mean when it comes to road racing, I'm not very good at it either. The MX-5 that you start out with on the road side does make it a little easier since it doesn't have near the power that the upper level road cars have, but it just ends up like this: I decide I want to work on advancing my road license, practice on whatever course the MX-5 is running on that week, run one race, get lapped before the race is over, get pissed off, don't touch the car for a month or more, rinse, repeat.
Idk how much of an oval racing fan you are, but it was a breeze for me. I'm also an oval junkie, like I said earlier; I go to local dirt tracks as often as I can, I go to Bristol for most of the events they have (not just the NASCAR races, but even modifieds, K&N, etc), try to go to the Atlanta (4 hours away) or Charlotte (5 hours away) or Talladega (6 hours away) NASCAR races if I can spare the time/money. So ya....oval racing....That could be the reason advancing my license was so easy; I know how oval cars act in real life, and since iRacing has gotten so close to real life racing, they act very similar, if not the same in some cases.
I'm more interested in road than oval (I used to live 30 miles from Darlington so yeah, I know ovals. I've also been to Monaco during the race there.) so I've been trying road but man, coming off a straightaway into a hairpin turn is hard. I live in Atlanta now so I can choose between AMS and Road Atlanta and still be in the home town.
I'm slowly getting the hang of it. My lap times are still terrible but I've gotten to where I can get a 5 lap practice run in without crashing. Just need to work on getting my times down, then maybe I'll try it with other people on the track.
I stick almost exclusively to road courses. Practice is key. Once you can get around the course safely I would suggest jumping into practice sessions with others. I rarely finish in the top 3, but I almost always make it to the end of the race with few or no incidents. What I find is that about a quarter of the field ends up disconnecting so as long as you can make it to the end you are likely going to improve your rating.
You definitely need to check your ego at the start line though. There are a lot of really strong racers out there.
