PC Racing Simulation

NetKar Pro reduced to $7. Buying it will get you access to the Assetto Corsa tech demo when it's available (presumably in the next week or so).

Via VirtualR:

The demo will include one car and one track, all owners of Kunos’ netKar Pro title will be invited to give this first version of Assetto Corsa a try.

To make it easy for everyone not owning netKar Pro yet, Kunos is selling their long-running title for just 4,99€ until March 1st – Click Here for more info.

I ordered it last night. NKPro was always one of those sims I was interested in before but could never justify the price given the smallish community around it. Despite being built by such a small team, it still has a driving model that some say is better than iRacing. It's also got clickable cockpits, visible tire wear, and flat spotting to name a few unique features.

Assetto Corsa is now on Steam Greenlight. You can should vote for it here.

Edit: Here are some new videos of the Tech Preview

Already done! I hope it lives up to the hype.

Anyone up for some iRacing laps around Laguna in the MX5? I haven't practiced this week and need to get some time in.

What time?

Next few minutes? My wife is out of town so I don't have a lot of time before I need to get dinner going for the boys.

Let me setup my wheel, I'll be there in 5-10 minutes.

Great. Getting Vent installed on the new OS now. I'll jump on the GWJ Vent server.

Hit a 1:45:5 right on my last lap. I think I can pretty easily hit 1:45, hopefully a consistent 1:44:x after some more laps. I'll probably do a TT tomorrow, looks like with the current standings I can easily grab a top 50 spot. I can NOT talk while driving though. Everytime I tried it threw me way off pace if not completely off track. I think the PTT is part of the problem.

Thanks for the run, Chris. Hopefully we can start gaining momentum with GWJ iRacing. I'll buy some content for my D, even though I'll probably just keep running Mazda Cup for the rest of this season. I've got $100 earmarked from tomorrow's paycheck so I can get the discounted pricing. If you guys want to turn some ovals I'm down for trying it out. I'm a brand spankin' new rookie in oval though.

Like I said in chat, you've got the right line, you just need to start carrying some more speed through the turns and get back on the gas sooner. With these underpowered cars, keeping up your momentum is crucial. But I'm not sure how to beat those guys doing 1:42s!

Road or oval makes no difference to me. I like running both. This season I just happen to be running oval in iRacing because I'm participating in that GSC road league at SimHQ.

Edit: Getting out of rookie on the oval side of iRacing is really tough. Unlike the road series, it's hard to keep your SR up in races because there is no where to go when the field starts wrecking. At least that was my experience a few years ago.

I was able to get up to my oval A liscense in about 2 seasons lol

I'm going to be running both tonight and tomorrow's Daytona 500, so as soon as I get home from work I'll be getting online and getting in some practice. I found a setup on the forums that is pretty damn quick but it gets pretty loose when pushing so I've got to do more practicing before I hop in a server with 42 other people. It'll be hard enough to play "attrition avoidance" with a setup I know well.

Assetto Corsa tech preview available for NK Pro owners!

I would not want a loose setup at Daytona. You need to be super comfortable holding your line in heavy traffic.

Post up before you get on. I was planning on spectating some anyway.

A little video I took of Assetto Corsa Tech Preview in slooooow-motion that shows off the weight transfer and slip angle:

Walked away from iracing for just a bit.... working out some PC issues and after deciding that the issue was my 2nd monitor and removing it from my desk, I notice how much more room I have now.... Say......

There's probably enough room to setup my HOTAS Warthog and leave it out / on the desk now ALL THE TIME..... yeah.... Oh, and I'll need to update all my DCS programs (read "spend 100 bucks for the new P-51, FC3 and Combat Arms), and make sure Rise of Flight is up to snuff as well......

See how this starts adding up? Been more than a week now and I think I have my driving and flying hardware ready to rock.

See ya on the track... or through my FLIR

I still need to get my HOTAS set back up with the new cockpit. I too splurged on some DCS content during holiday sales that I haven't even downloaded yet.

The traffic isn't where I have the issues, since I'm just cruising in the pack and not pushing. It's whenever it gets spread out enough for everyone to pair up. Depending on how well whoever I'm pushing holds their line (which so far hasn't been very well), I have had a few instances of sliding the rear tires getting into the turns.

Only three hours late, but I'm hopping on now.

Hmm, I guess we're not iRacing friends. Shoot a req to Will Ernst, at least for future sake. Probably too late to catch your race.

Just added you.

Got it! I realized right after I posted that I wouldn't have the content to spectate though. I need to figure out a package to pick up to get the discount.

Well, done. I grabbed the Daytona 500 content, the Skip Barber, and the first few tracks I needed to buy for the SRF series.

Awesome you gonna run?

Oh hell no. I'd be one of the rookies that everyone rants about. I have no oval experience at all and enjoying some beer. Wait, this is NASCAR. "Hold mah beer uhn watch this!"

haha well feel free to find my session and spot for me if you have a mic lol

I logged in to Vent as well since I don't really know how the new spotting function works anyway lol I'm just in the lobby since there's no iRacing channel.

Went AFK while the content was downloading. Spectating now, I won't subject you to inept spotting.

[Edit] Man, I see what you were saying Chris. Oval guys are chatty.

Gotta have something to do during those cautions.

Yeah, there were plenty on this race until the field cleared out. "GREEN! Nevermind, yellow."
