Rick Perry would consider invading Mexico

Yeah let's take an already extremely overpriced program with abysmal success and amp it up to a full military op, I mean we were already calling it a war right? Let's fight this thing!

Are you going to invade the CIA while you're at it?

To be fair here, he's not advocating "invading" Mexico. He's talking about using our military to assist Mexico with their anti-drug operations.

I think it's a horrifically bad idea....although dropping some daisy cutters on known drug labs might be interesting!

And we didn't invade Afghanistan, we just used our military to assist them with their anti-terrorist operations. I don't see any difference.

Edit: Not about the right or wrongness of it, but how it is an invasion. Maybe the term occupation would be more accurate?

Obviously he's going to put Ron White's plan of taking over Mexico, fixing it up enough to flip, and then fixing the economic problems with the profits from the sale. Nothing but win.

I don't think he was suggesting "invasion" either, but something more along the lines of how we've dealt in Central America throughout history, the sending of "advisors" and small groups of American troops to aid the military forces. Sure, that didn't end so well in pretty much anywhere that we did it, but that's what I think he's advocating.

If we actually had a secure border the drug stuff in mexico would be less of an issue.

Legalize pot and secure the border. Kill the illegal immigrant problem and kill drug lord's profits in one fell swoop.

But then where will Rick Perry get his drugs?

What? This is just nuts and not going to happen at all. The problem with the drug trade is that we have a large demand for drugs. Legalize the drugs and you end the drug lord's power. Illegal immigrants, by and large and not smuggling in pockets full of drugs. They are coming in to pick your peaches and mow your yard, but not to sell you drugs.

The rich never have trouble getting drugs.

Stuff like this.

Not quite what I had in mind when I asked for a Republican like Teddy Roosevelt.

Look guys, I know that there is a chance--a slim chance--that killing more varieties of brown people won't solve every single one of our problems, but we owe it to ourselves, and to Jesus, to try anyways.
