GWJ Online Boardgame Group

If anybody is up for any games of Seasons, Lords of Xidit, or Libertalia on Boardgamearena let me know.

I guess this counts as an online board game. A couple (3) of us Euro Goodjers have picked up and are starting a Blood Bowl 2 league while it's cheap on Steam.

Timezones might be an issue, but holler if want to try. Not regular, just random fixtures when we can.

Man, I remember the old GWJ Blood bowl league fondly. Those were good times. Two kids later and the chances of me being able to carve out time for a game I can’t just walk away from for an hour at a time is inconceivable.

I recently relearned that Food Chain Magnate is available online here, along with a couple of other games (asynchronous play supported):

I would LOVE to join in, but recent leagues showed it difficult with parenting duties for two young kids to carve out a dedicated 90 minutes, that mixed with time difference means no chance. Bummer because I love a good BB league.
Have fun and here's hoping for a bunch of non bash teams, always more rewarding and interesting play.

I was thinking I might go Skaven. Maybe.

I’d be no good to you, I’m a Dorf at heart.

In case people are still interested, I'm still out there on BGA and yucata...

Both recently added Terra Mystica.

Just found out that Nations is out there .. on Mabiweb . Anybody playing there? Is that worth trying out?

I'm in the same boat as Prozac and troubleshot, two young kids means I almost never can get a 60 or 90 minute window of free time.

I do love BB, so hopefully if this comes up again in the future I'll be in a better place time wise.

I am in the same boat.

However I've been able to do some asynchronous turn-based gaming, such as Food Chain Magnate, at boardgamecore.net.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to organize a game, and if you've never played before, I'd be happy to help you learn.

It's a real brain burner of an economic game: the person with the most money wins. The rules are relatively simple and are quite thematic. It's a game of perfect information with a lot of strategic depth. There is minimal luck.

Sounds interesting. If there was a minimal cooperation threshold under which everyone loses, that would describe MULE.

Understood. I have a 7 yr old, so am getting a bit of time back here and there, but still it's been 3 weeks and I have two teams, the Rebel Rebels and the Bodlee Funktunes. Both are sitting pretty at W0 D0 L0.

There are four of us, others am sure in same boat. Fingers crossed I've cleared enough time and paths may align with another player so can get my first fixture this Friday!

Ah, no minimal cooperation threshold in FCM.

Also, it's not perfect information, because there's one phase where everyone takes their turns simultaneously. Whoops...

Have there been any M.U.L.E. remakes?

Just thought I'd drop back in to see if there is any online board gamin' being had here or through Discord or some other random place. Anyone still playing by chance?

I had fun playing Spirit Island on Tabletop Simulator with a group of GWJers for the IGWJ's Day 2019 https://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/...

A few people have mentioned on the forum that they would like to have a regular night for online tabletop games, so I'm posting here to see if I can spark some additional interest.

Perhaps some of you have a regular night already setup that you may want to share? Or perhaps we can arrange something regular or spontaneous here in the thread

I would have interest in that.

Great, hopefully we can get a few more people showing an interest. I've also posted on the GWJ Discord and Steam channels.

Would this be via Discord and using some of the boardgame sites discussed earlier in the thread, as well as TS?

Always up for some board gaming! Limited experience in online board gaming with others, but would love to jump in some time!

I'm open to suggestions on how we do it. Discord seems a logical way as it's cross-platform with voice chat. The initial post is a bit old and it's been quiet here for a while, so let's work out a plan

My experience so far has been via Tabletop Simulator (available on Steam and regularly on sale) - many free downloadable mods for a huge variety of board games.

There's also Tabletopia (Play 700+ Board Games Online for Free•)

And there's the option to play the official digital board game apps eg. Scythe, Lords of Waterdeep, Talisman etc...

[Edit] I've also found the online boardgaming portal boiteajeux.net which I haven't used but also seems like another good option.

Great to hear! I've only just got back into board gaming myself at the beginning of the year. I've got a BG meetup group that I play with when I can and discovered some great new (and not so new) board games.

I also discovered Tabletop Simulator and have played quite a few games online, using Discord for voice chat.

I also own a few digital board game versions on PC and mobile (tablet). I tend to play those via AI and asynchronous, that way you can spread the games out over many days, taking a turn whenever you can.

Are there any specific board games that you like?

Anything by Stonemaier Games, Terraforming Mars, Race/Roll for the Galaxy, tons of worker-placement games...I could go on for a VERY long time here.

Great! I've yet to play Terraforming Mars but I'm hoping to get a game in before the year is out. I'm currently having fun playing D&D: Lords of Waterdeep (digital app), sometimes described at a gateway worker placement game, easy to learn/teach but enough going on to keep me returning (especially with the expansions).

Of new(ish) games I'd like to play Barrage is high on my list.

I'd like to join the group for online tabletop gaming

Hey I am also here and want to join! Right now I am super hyped for Marvel Champions LCG, which I play in person at my kitchen table and there is also a great mod for on Tabletop Simulator. If you want, you may add me on Steam Anytime and if you reach me, I can teach you.

It is cooperative, mild complexity with varying difficulties. We can play with two players already. I am from Germany so my gaming time will mostly be after work most days, just shoot me a message (you may also reach me on discord, my username is StLion (#6570) and I am also in the GWJ group.

Apologies if this is easily answerable - pretty new to these forums and doesn't seem to be a search function - is there any regularly scheduled tabletop simulator meetups through this community? Thanks in advance!

Great, I hope we can get something arranged soon! Do you have any favourite boardgames you would like to suggest?

Thanks for your post to the group and good to connect with you!

Hopefully, we can arrange a game soon and include Marvel Champions LCG
