GWJ Online Boardgame Group

Thanks for arranging, Dysplastic. 7:00pm is a bit early for me with kiddos to wrangle, but I'll jump on Vent after and try to observe or get on the next game (if any).

Tammany Hall, Before the Flood, and Confucius are, as far as I know, still here: http://www.slothninja.com/

I wouldn't mind being in the steam group although I doubt I'll be around to play most of the time.

Darn you all settings this up on my date night. Next time then!

Sorry, I tend to schedule these things when it's convenient for me! (AKA GF out of town and no other plans.)
You guys should definitely get the weekday night thing going again - it just generally doesn't work with my schedule.

Thanks to mmockus and Natus for some great games! Learned how to play Seasons and then had some quick Race for the Galaxy games to finish off the night. Seasons works fantasticly online, definitely want to try it out with more than 2 players.

Sorry I missed you guys. I was in Columbus for some work/fun and just got back. Next time...

Thanks to you for helming the effort. Since this was my first time on Vent with you guys, I was astounded how easy it all was. I think if more in this group knew that, we'd have more people signing on.

I am generally free later in the evening, so anybody just send me a PM or text me on Steam.

So far, it looks like http://en.boardgamearena.com/#!welcome and http://www.yucata.de/en/ are the best online boardgaming sites, but I will investigate Sloth Ninja and see how easy or hard it is to break into Tammany Hall.

No worries! I have to admit that at this point I pretty much exclusively play on the two sites you mentioned. When we started this off we played a bunch of games on Brettspielwelt, which honestly has the most unintuitive interface ever. Race for the Galaxy was exceptionally easy because we all knew it, but I was surprised at how easy it was to play a game of Seasons where it was the first time for both of us, due to the ease of the UI and the informative popups on BoardGameArena.

Hopefully a few successful nights will build some momentum and get more people involved.

yeah, even though i have been a BSW user forever, BoardGameArena really has stepped to the front. What it lacks in spitpolish, it makes up for in JUST WORKING!

Hi, a bit off-top since it's not online, but today is the last day to back Tomorrow on Kickstarter. Think Diplomacy but with nukes and biological weapons, with scoring like DEFCON. The final stretch goal is only $1,500 away: little plastic standup mushroom clouds for explosion sites instead of cardboard tokens. I've backed, received, and played their previous game, The New Science, which is excellent, so it's a good group of designers. Troy Goodfellow is somehow involved in the company.

Not such a fan of the game, but I just found an online implementation of Martin Wallace's Brass: http://brass.orderofthehammer.com/index.php

Oh that's cool. After playing the semi-sequel, Age of Industry, so many times I've been wanting to try the original.

I'd be down to give it a shot if we set up a time.

Brass is a great game and the online implementation works very well. The site is set up for asynchronous play, but I think Brass works really well in that format and the site sends you notifications when it's your turn.

If you guys set up a game and need another player, feel free to add me. If I recall, the person who sets up the game needs to know all the other players' user names if you don't want it to be an open game. My user name on the site is 'brankin'

Anyone for a game tonight? Agricola on Boite a Jeux? (Hard way to learn, but if you know the game, its great). Stone Age? 8PM EST? Ventrillo?

Can't make it tonight unfortunately. Have fun!

I'd be down for something tonight.

I made a boardgame. Thought you guys might like to see it. =)

That is awesome! Dad of the year!

Anyone down for some games tonight? Even just 2 player 1960?

I am down if you are still up for a game.

Sorry I missed it. I have to check this thread more often

There's still the Steam group. People could ping a notice when they are looking to set up a game.

Could I get an invite to that? Unless I'm already a member of it

Sorry I wasn't thinking in that direction. I will try and remember next time.

I put together a Doodle to poll people to see what time works for people going forward. I'm guessing that most games can be played in 90-120 minutes, possibly less if we have all experienced players and or play quickly.

Make sure to click on the table accordion and fill out the entire poll!

Perhaps we can get one to two regular/semi-regular weekly sessions going again!

Thanks, CP, about time a group night was reformed. I miss board gaming. So far it looks like Sunday night is ideal, and some are available for Tuesday.

Wednesday and/or Thursday would be my available nights, but I could attempt other nights. Monday/Tuesday/Saturday nights are booked for me. Sunday would work as long as it was after 8:00 eastern.

Though I'd need rules lessons on a TON of games ( I don't get out much )

Crag, please fill out the poll, it will help a lot.

No options for after 11PM EST

Seriously though, my schedule is too switchy to actually regularly have availability on any given night before 11. I tend to be a late-night gamer when everyone is asleep, so maybe some Pacific and Mountain time people can also vote for some later times

Otherwise, I can try to join on an ad-hoc basis.
