I'd really like to play a round of Escape from Colditz castle, does anyone know if that's been digitised anywhere?
The german model works best here I think. The online versions make you want to buy the physical version. I know it's driven a crapload of purchases for me.
I'm down for some 1960 tonight, or acquire, if we're being more social. I'd also love to play some Puerto Rico or some 7Wonders on BSW.
This sounds like a great idea. I'm usually available after 8pm EST.
I'd love to get an invite, please. I'm a rabid boardgamer, and years ago--before children--haunted SpielbyWeb and Mabiweb. Thanks for all the setup work.
Now, should this thread be separate from iOS boardgame Game Center invites?
Edit: jesus!
Not sure I can make it at all tonight
Quick, schedule the next one!
Please sir, toss me an invite. I have almost no experience with board games but I am interested in learning.
Thanks
Awesome, I am totally up for this! My wife is going to a knitting circle at 6 so I should have no problem getting my kids tucked into bed before 7. I guess I'll jump on Vent and if there's room join up.
I'm up for anything and will jump on Vent when I can. I have to take care of my lovely pregnant wife, but once dinner is cooked and everything cleaned up I might be able to get some board gaming in. Puerto Rico would be fun. I have the physical game but never have played it. I love San Juan though.
I'm a board game neophyte but if anyone wants to start any PBEM games (primarily because of the time difference) hit me up, I'm happy to try and learn.
Sigh... looking like I might be out. My kids are acting like they've eaten 2 lbs. of M&Ms and won't go to sleep (or stop fighting).
Might pop on later and see what's going on.
PBEM would be nice, keeps the time zones straight at least.
I'll be around tonight to play, but going to be getting something to eat soon...
I haven't tried http://www.slothninja.com/ yet, but it's got Martin Wallace's After the Flood (a game I respected but didn't love) and the hard to find Tammany Hall. I'd love to try either.
Mabiweb contains In the Year of the Dragon (which is fine), Richelieu (same), and the sublime In the Shadow of the Emperor.
SpielbyWeb contains the fantastic Hacienda and Wallenstein, both of which I highly recommend.
Sign me up in the group. I'm hox on the steam.
I'd like to partake — just not tonight. Is it possible for a Mac guy to join in the fun?
anyone use vassal? i downloaded but haven't tried it.
Is anyone on isotropic? I'm grobstein on there -- gonna log in. Unfortunately I am technically at work and presumably can't get on Vent / Steam.
Please sir, toss me an invite. I have almost no experience with board games but I am interested in learning.
Thanks
Me too. But I'd love to learn (though tonight's a no-go for me).
Okay, we're going to start with something fun and easy: Tikal on SpielByWeb.
Game name: GWJ - Tikal
Password: GWJTikal
There is room for three more players. First come first serve! We can fire up a second game if there's enough interest.
Don't worry if you don't know how to play Tikal. The interface is great and the game is pretty easy to pick up. SpielByWeb has rules that are okay; you can also read through some reviews on BGG that will help get you up to speed.
Oh, and I'm Dreaded Gazebo on Steam. Need to put that in my sig!
group invite, please.
Good games tonight, though apparently every time I've played Puerto Rico before I was doing it wrong. Not much of a surprise, actually.
This HAS to become like a THING, a tradition. Was great to get a few games in. But we should get slightly more organized. We should pick 2-3 "core" games for wednesday nights, and link to the rules, so we dont spend a ton of time doing the teach in. Don't get me wrong, whomever did the rules rundown for 7Wonders did AWESOME, but it was 20 minutes of websurfing for half of us.
1960 and Acquire next wed?
Who actually won the puerto rico game this evening?

I wholeheartetdly agree, and I wasn't even there tonight - but knowing what game, where I go to play it, and how to play, all in advance by a couple of days, would be awesome.
I'm not sure how much work this would be (especially given that I am sure to not know any of the games we play), but it would be incredibly helpful if someone could record a ~10-20 minute intro to the games for the upcoming Wednesday and post a video (maybe such a thing already exists and it can just be linked to). That way anyone who doesn't know the game could watch and have a good idea of how things work.
