I would appreciate it if y'all would check my numbers. The site format has changed slightly and so I've had to tweak my scraper script. Thanks. Also, feel free to send me any suggestions (any at all) on how I can improve the pre- and post-week summary posts.

Question of the week: Not counting players that suffered an injury (see: Jackson, Steven), who was the biggest week 1 disappointment? Bonus question: Who was the biggest surprise?

Waiver process on Thursday morning.

Haha. I like * for "would make playoffs." It's never too early to be thinking playoffs!

I think the Buffalo's Fitzgerald was the biggest surprise. Biggest dissapointment, Blount (coaches gave him 5 carries).

Numbers look good.

Biggest surprise for me has to be Cam Newton. Those were some insane numbers.

For biggest disappointment I too would have to go with Blount. Poor coaching in that one. Some people might want to go with Mark Ingram, but that team is filled with so many mouths to feed ...

Same for both. Sadly, I was starting Blount on one of my teams :-(. If only I'd known to start Tolbert instead, I would be in better shape. Not winning, but better shape.

I would call them "disappointments" but I was ripping Blount and Mendenhall's draft spots in GWJFFL2 for exactly the reason they showed in week 1.

Grinders who aren't dynamic runners and can't catch a pass are one-trick ponies, and when their team isn't in a position to grind it out all game, they hit the bench.

They'll have their games where the team does grind it and they dominate. But they're very hard to trust week-to-week.

Any team that gets down as fast and by as many points as Pittsburg did is going to abandon the run.

Well, that's exactly my point. They become non-contributors. Whereas a back like a Steven Jackson, MJD, Forte, etc., will continue to be relevant in that situation. They catch passes. They're also the guys who will get carries running draw plays out of the shotgun to try and counter a blitzing defense that expects only passes.

Another example straight out of week 1: Jamaal Charles. Buffalo put a whipping on them from the word "go" but Charles remained active. Not his greatest game but catching passes and running out of passing formations kept him from tanking like those other guys.

For me, it's about trust and avoiding game-losing performances. I'd much rather have a consistent guy than a guy that helps me win by 30 points one week and then loses the game for me the next. And me personally, I just don't trust the grinder-only backs (compared to their similarly-rated peers - obviously, slide them down a little and they become values again)

Biggest Disappointment: Nate Kaeding - Number 1 fantasy kicker going down on first play, that has to sting for Round 11 kicker drafters.

Biggest Surprise: Steve Smith(CAR) - Thought he was dead in the water and then he went off against a really weak Arizona secondary.

Smells like justice to me. Taking a kicker that early isn't the wisest play, in my book.

The biggest disappointment for my team was Vincent Jackson. My third round pick and he got 5 points. Followed shortly by Fleaflicker's uptime.

In case anyone didn't get the email from Fleaflicker:

Dear Fleaflicker Users,

On Sunday at 2:30 PM EDT Fleaflicker suffered the worst outage in the
six-plus years we have been operating. Most leagues experienced up to four
hours of downtime. A network switch in our new data center failed, and we
take full responsibility for this failure.

We have always been very serious about server uptime and performance. Since
Sunday, our operations team has been working non-stop to upgrade our
infrastructure and ensure this never happens again. We are confident that
these upgrades will prevent a similar issue from happening in the future.

We are fantasy fanatics ourselves and we know how important it is to have
100% uptime and live scoring every single day. Sunday's outage was
unacceptable and we don't ever want to put our users through that again.

If you have any questions regarding this outage or any other matters, please
contact us at [email protected] or message us on Twitter
(http://twitter.com/fleaflicker) or Facebook
(http://facebook.com/fleaflicker).

Thanks,
The Fleaflicker Team

Yeah I got it, and it is down right now. Just don't remember problems like this in prior years.

$50 bucks for Devry Henderson? I thought my $15 bid was going to be high.

Some people like inconsistent players.

$40 in FFL3, but Cam Newton only went for $16.

Yahoo's pickups of the week is what I checked as a guide. Didn't really need a QB, but overbid their recommendation for Henderson, but wasn't enough.

Not like Colston is out for the season though, should be back after the bye or something, so it's not like Devery is a permanent fix. Surprising.

Woo. I got him for $27 in FFL1. And I only went that high because I have Colston.

If anyone cares enough to bother looking, I'm pretty sure you can see all the transactions in any league by following the links (and then clicking "Front Office") in my sig.

Edit: This is not meant to discourage posting what people went for in your league. As a matter of fact, I encourage you to check the other leagues and post/discuss all you want.

Holy crap. I'm glad I grabbed him for $1 last week in the keeper league. *knocks on wood*

Count me in.

I'm in.

I'll play, sounds interesting.

I thought about bidding for him but like Stele said their other guys will be coming back and I just don't think he will have consistent production. I could definitely be surprised though, but I wasn't going to start him over any of my other four guys for the next couple of weeks anyway (Welker, Jackson, Moss, TB Williams)!

I'd be interested in trying it out.

I had $15 for Cam Newton....Now all of my bids will not be in intervals of $5!

If you're willing to take rookies into the Beta experiment, I'd be interested in taking part.

Of course I'll play in your insane league, Grumps.

I'm going to regret this, but I'll do it.

Any chance to beat ratboy. I'm in.

*Legion* wrote:

Insane? You should love it. You always say how you want fantasy to be more like NFL. (Disclaimer: I may be making that up.) What's more NFL than too many teams, not enough (quality) players?
