Android Games Catch-All

They've definitely been more expensive, not sure by how much exactly - both well worth it either way, even at the usual price and most definitely for a dollar.

Lara Croft Go and Hitman Go are both $0.99 right now. Perhaps these are the regular prices now, but I think they're on sale...

Thanks, Doc. Good lookin' out.

Sorcery! series to date, parts 1, 2 and 3 are on sale at 99p a pop over here. Just played through the first, nicely made and all nostalgic with the John Blanche illustrations. I'll defo be downloading the other two parts at this price. If I stick with it I guess the sale strategy will have worked and I'll cough up full price for part 4, which is out tomorrow.

Sentinels of the Multiverse is $.99 right now. Think it's normally about $11.

Everyone needs to get this. It's worth full price.

Bought as quickly as bought could be. Used to love the board (well, card) game version, bit didn't want to play it again on tablet for what they were charging for our.

Reviews mention DLC costing an additional $40. Am I going to end up spending way more than a dollar?

Only if you want to....

There's going to be a lot of DLC I won't be buying.

It is 2 "Season" packs at (normally) 20 dollars each. So, yeah, you could spend 40 extra dollars if you want to, right now Season 2 has almost nothing in it, but Season 1 is great.

For someone not typically interested in the CCG style of games, is Sentinels something worth looking at?

It isn't really a CCG. The decks are fixed, so you aren't buying new packs to build the perfect deck. The gameplay is PvE or co-op not head to head with another player. The expansion packs are to buy new hero decks or new enemies IIRC.

Others can correct me if I am wrong. I've only played the game a few times, and I have not played the app.

It's not a CCG at all; you essentially have distinct decks for each hero, villain, and location, and the cards represent things like powers or equipment for heroes, attacks or minions for villains, and various environmental happenings for a location. Decks are standard, so there's no building or collecting aspects. My assumption is you buy expansions to get extra characters and such as DLC, but you wouldn't have to to experience the game.

It's the best superhero board game I've ever played by far. I mean, I enjoy Marvel Legendary, but it really feels like you're more playing as SHIELD'S HR rep more than a superhero. Sentinels does a really great job of giving each hero a unique character and play.

tl;dr--for a buck? Hell, yeah.

Dang it. Always look for the dl;dr first.

Looks like this $.99 price is a standard sale across all platforms on Sentinels. Same on Steam and iOS.

I just got this sweet Bluetooth controller:

And I'm wondering - can anyone recommend any games that might have been less than great with touch controls but are improved by a gamepad?

Thanks in advance.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes is out on Android. It's basically Hearthstone: PvZ.

I think I've already played a couple hours.

I like it better than Hearthstone, which is also good, but I'm getting more moment to moment enjoyment out of this.

Hearthstone didn't do much for me, but this PvZ game ads in the concept of lanes for your cards, which adds an entirely new tactical layer for me. Loving it so far.

I couldn't get Hearthstone to work on my tablet. Kept getting an error message about storage, despite having 15GB left to play with. There seemed to be some work arounds using a Micro SD card, but I couldn't be bothered with the faffing!

I have put in a bit of time, too. I like the variety of heroes and their abilities, and I really like the amount of single-player campaigns and hero quests. There is no time limit to single-player matches, so you can take as long as you need to read the cards and think about strategy. I also like that each hero is a combination of 2 card sets, so there is some overlap between them. The speed of gaining currency for quests seems pretty good for getting new packs, too.

It is a bit slow on my older phone, but not nearly as slow as Hearthstone, which is basically unplayable on my two Android devices.

Also, a very silly launch trailer.

Actual gameplay

I am Mixolyde at gmail dot com, if you want to friend me up.

Added, I should be manta173 on the googs as well. I am just getting started though, show I should be an easy target.

Gear club is coming to Android. I just watched this on a buddies iphone and it's so smooth.

Use my link to sign up for a preview account and win spins to get stuff in game.

Been playing Jetpack Fighter. It's pretty fun. Fast paced swipe to attack speed run type deal. There's the usual currency/gems store setup, but it also implements a fairly clever crafting system to make weapons/armor/powerups.

Humble Bundle for Board Games including Catan Carcasonne, Galaxy Trucker and Ticket to Ride.

I'm pretty excited, but most of my family doesn't have android.

yeah, spent my whole lunch break playing Galaxy Trucker. Looking forward to trying the others.

Anyone played Guild of Dungeoneering? I want to give it a shot, but the $5 price tag is outside of the impulse Android purchase.

Do any of those have good single player?

Significantly lower than the $15 Steam purchase price though...

Yup! I don't know why platform matters, but that would be an instant no thought purchase on Steam.
