NHL 2010-2011: Rick Rypien

Awesome first period! Soooo excited!

Edit: I feel a lot better with that cushion point now. I know it can and has gone either way in the past. Really hope it doesn't though.

WOW, the Canucks really came alive after that second Bruins goal.

Score on a power play! Awesome!

Yeh, not sure about that one, but awesome for Boston. It was hard to see.

That was one of the more... interesting goals I've seen. Not sure what Luongo could have done better in that situation.

Things look grim for them at 3-0.

Cry for me BobbyLou! Cry!

I suppose Make it Seven could now be known as "Make it Seven Canadian Teams that Can't Win the Stanley Cup."

I think it's safe to call it. =)

Disappointing, but I think Boston deserved this one. I still think the Canucks are a better team (not that I'm biased or anything), but they've been wildly inconsistent in the last 7 games.

Will they boo Gary Bettman at the Cup hand-off speech?

Congrats to the Bruins, and kudos to the Vancouver fans for sticking around and cheering their team in the last minute when the game was already over.

Yeah, that was nice to see.

Granted it was on twitter, but I read that Bettman was signing autographs in Vancouver :P.

Hope you Bruins fans enjoy the win, it's been far longer than it should have been for you.

Uh yeah. And booing Thomas with the MVP. Stay classy Vancouver.

Oh, he was booed alright. Yes he was. Happy to see Thomas get it!

He'll probably kill himself when there's an all-Canada final.

To be fair, I think they were still booing Bettman. They cheered for Thomas as he circled with the cup, I think they were getting Bettman as he was walking back down the carpet.

And now it's time for the angry, drunk idiots to roam the streets of Vancouver and yell their heads off. Good times.

Congrats Boston! Man, were those some awesome playoffs this year or what?

I don't even care anymore. I want this all over and done with. All the NHL has done has made it very difficult for a die hard fan to watch the game and continue to watch it.

My dream scenario: Canucks win the Cup and then I move to Japan. A Cup would be a nice gift in exchange for not being able to access hockey easily.

Turn off the TV, stray out of the thread and stop reading the paper perhaps?

I actually don't watch TV or read the newspaper.

I'm happy I got to go. Disappointed isn't a strong enough word for how I feel. I'm probably moving, I don't know for how long. I wanted to be here for this. It's the one time that "next year" doesn't console me in any way.

Good job Boston Bruins. Well done.

I don't get the rioting, win or lose. I guess I'm too old. Have fun, hug, yell, but why break sh*t? Knuckleheads.

Bring me the accolades of the one they call Mr. Green.

The news was reporting that some people brought molotovs and "Riot 2011" signs, so they were clearly intending to tear sh*t up no matter how the game ended. Add tens of thousands of disappointed fans, many of whom had been drinking for hours prior to the game, and it's one giant ugly mob. I watched some of the live coverage on CBC and it was just disgusting. I am ashamed to be a Vancouverite today.

Yeah, I kind of had a sense that there were dipsh*ts out there who were intending to riot, no matter what happened. One can only hope that many of the morons who did this will have been captured by the many, many, many photos and videos i've already seen floating around social media sites, and introduce them to the notion that just because someone posted a video of you doing on Facebook, that doesn't count as "legal immunity".

Totally disappointed at people's behavior as well.

From the news story:
"As the riot moved in a wave throughout the city, looters smashed windows at the Sears outlet on Robson Street and wreaked havoc inside the store, before turning their attention to the Chapters across the street."

There is something ironic about a mindless angry mob looting a book store...

I guess good thing I was working

Problem is the people who most likely sparked this are the crazies who are smart enough not to stand around posing for cameras in a Canucks jersey. Pretty much a rioters dream scenario. Game 7 in Vancouver, lose incite some violence and watch the drunk mob take it over.
