GWJ BCS League - NCAA 12 (360): Season I, Week 1

Yeah, not gonna lie, wasn't the easiest to set up. Not only that, but for whatever reason, it would give teams 10 conference games. Had to reset the schedule several times to fix that.

Shonuff, you're not ready to advance. Are you recruiting? Just trying to get all affairs in order.

*EDIT*
Scratch that, looks like 11/12 are ready now, It said 10 a little while ago.

For instance, I went with 7 minute quarters for Season I, even though Jayhawker went with 8. I want to see how 7 goes before bumping it up a minute, so we will definitely discuss that in the offseason. I will be looking at stats as well to see if we need to stay or increase.

I don't think it is a big deal either way. There is a lot to be said for quicker games.

But running the numbers, I found that we are averaging 96.7 plays from scrimmage a game. My goal when setting quarters is to hit 120 plays from scrimmage, as that is about the average. Our games ranged from 81 plays to 114, which is a pretty normal spread. There are lot of factors that affect the number of plays. If one team is running a lot of clock, it can be low. If both teams are in a shootout, it can go through the roof.

I don't think that the fun of playing suffers if we are running 95 plays instead of 120. I was just curious and decided to take a look at what week one has brought us so far.

Update

UCLA wins 31-7 and grabs an instant commit from very sought after 3* OT.

3* prestige here I come.

Wow...so with these sliders I realized that you have to slow down your game and actually try to misdirect the defense...it helps a lot...I was able to pull out the win tonight in OT 31-28. That was damn close.

ECU started the game off on the right foot, getting a TD on the opening drive then holding Marshall to a 3 & out. However, an ECU turnover changed the tempo of the game and had both teams slugging it out. By accounts of the stats, ECU was the better team, however, Marshall was able to control the ground game and had possession for twice as long as ECU. Add the clutch INT in overtime to put this in the books and The Herd walks away with a W over Rival ECU.

Players of the game were
HB A. Bradshaw with 93 rushing yards, 162 receiving yards, and 1 TD.
QB B. Leftwich with a rating of 162.5, 326yrds, 3TD.

12/12, we are ready to roll. I will roll tomorrow morning when I wake up.

I still am curious why it didnt record the blowout though...I should have a L in the first week losing 40-3.

Can't say. The game was saying you had three restarts. It's not a big deal, as you are learning on the fly. I would assume you are not exciting properly. the game takes awhile to download stats and highlights. But at least it got in tonight.

The one good thing about an initial year is that you use the Play Now to practice against pretty much the exact same team you will be playing week to week. I even bench injured guys the CPU has, But once you get to a second season, there is just no easy way to play against the same teams.
