A bigger hit is if you're terrible at singing and you either don't know it, or you're far too self-conscious about it. You sing badly, it's not the end of the world. Most people do.

So you're saying that being a terrible singer is potentially as good as or better than being a good one? If that's the case, it doesn't hurt to try if you don't mind risking minor embarrassment. :D

It is more about proving you can relax and that he is not self absorbed. I have never been, nor will ever be a good singer or dancer. My friends have always been the same. What most women want is a guy to be willing to just make a fool of themselves to make her happy. And here is the best thing about dancing. You are making an ass of yourself; but you are making an ass of yourself while holding a girl close to you, and your hands on her back.

Ha, this is so true of most guys. At least in the States. Singing (in a participatory manner) isn't something we do very often because we usually listen to recorded music instead (but imagine if everyone's iPod suddenly broke down). I also wonder how it is elsewhere in the world.

Women on the other hand, seem better and singing and dancing for whatever reason.

It's because girls are allowed to point while singing and dancing. For guys, doing that will usually end in a fistfight.

This post for rent.

This is a complete tangent, but Lewis Black also points his fingers, but only when telling jokes.
