Boosts are absolutely traps in mmo's. Sure they have their perks but they can actually be rage quit inducing.
I've often found that should you run into difficulties playing the boosted class, starting an alt and playing it for the first 40 levels or so with help clear up rotations, role and capabilities.
Another way to use them is as money farming if you chose a class to boost poorly. (unfun or underperforming)
Yeah that's another reason I want to throw $5 at being preferred instead of just subscribing outright.
The only thing I did way back in beta was one of the starting planets up to fleet. The same thing I did last weekend but almost 9 years ago? I've got a lot to learn.
Taking at least one character through the story before I tempt myself with skipping everything and doing 60+ content. Trying to enjoy the journey.
But with storage vault access.
I'm very shocked by how dated the design of these beginning areas feel. The dialogue makes up for it though.
Do the boosts get you any Legacy unlocks, or do you have to hit the current level cap to get those?
Is anyone here still a subscriber that would like to share a referral link? Not sure if I'm going to sub but it'd be nice to get the couple of bonuses . I'd rather use someone here's in case I sub rather than some random person on the internet.

Anybody?
Got to the Imperial capital yesterday. Finally set up Legacy name, even though I got a notice about that when I hit 10. Got my Stronghold apartment thingy, and wasted a lot of time setting that up. Reminds me of City of Heroes supergroup bases. I guess lots of MMOs do some player housing. Convenient to jump and sell if my inventory ever got full. Hopefully back to the main quest today while I have some time off.
I just re-upped recently to get access to the last 2 xpacs.
Another Friend Link.
I play on Star Forge and am in the Alea Iacta Est guild.
Oh yeah so apparently it didn't work for me. I'm in account limbo. I had a beta account, and got some in game rewards for that, annual gifts and such. So I can't use a friend code for a brand new account. But also even though I have a 9 year old account or something because I have never been a subscriber I can't use the code for those bonuses either. Bah.
Thanks though. I guess if I have enough fun to give them $15 at some point I'll try a code after that.
Right now the most annoying thing is only 2 crew skills. But using a referral code gets you that 3rd skill as an account unlock for preferred. That's what I was after. Oh well.
Finished my 1st story after all the years of playing on and off.
Nice! Which one did you play?
Trooper
Trooper
Nice- that was my first one too. If you like the whole military/ spec ops feel and want to go Empire, I would highly recommend trying the agent. I finished that storyline a few months back and liked it even more.
Consensus on the Internet seems to be that Trooper is the worst of the 8 class stories. I haven't done that one very far myself. I need to go back and sink my teeth into the Republic storylines. My wife and I duoed all the Empire ones back at launch and we enjoyed them all.
It was ok but then again it is the only one I did! I was not fond of the last choice you could make. Basically my Trooper had a LS/DS balance of 100,000/100 hehe
Trooper
If you plan to do more I would avoid the smuggler one. It's really not all that good. Of the 5 I've done(Smuggler, Trooper, Consular, Imp Agent, and Sith Inq) I definitely think Imp Agent is the best. It was the third one I did and afterward became my main class.

Smuggler's problem is it's pretty good on the starting planet, and then nothing about the subsequent treasure hunt (that I've seen so far) is as compelling as "gotta get my ship back from the bastard who stole it." If you want a "freelancer sort of falls in with one of the factions" story then Bounty Hunter is the way to go. Though apparently there's a glut of those now thanks to Jon Favreau.
Imp Agent is by far the best story to play thru. I enjoyed the Trooper well enough. I would say the Jedi Consular was the least enjoyable play through for me. I seem to remember the smuggler story just dragging on with bits of humor and search of fortune and glory.
I was pleasantly surprised with the story in the expansion Knights of the Fallen Order. It was very engaging as once I started I wanted to keep going. I also found it neat how they dealt with the companions. It is worth a play through in my opinion.
Is there a way to scale the UI to make it bigger? It’s way to small at 4K resolution and lowering the resolution just makes the screen/window smaller.
You can go into the UI editor and scale up all the UI parts or the individual UI parts by themselves. I scale everything down smaller then adjust the parts to where on the screen and how small/big I want them. You can do this once then save the profile for other characters to use.
I’ll have to take a closer look after work, where is this UI editor?

Hit esc and the option to bring it up is there.
Thanks, that worked.
Just reinstalled the game after 3 years. No idea why.
Oh boy here we go.
Tempted to switch to the Steam version and maybe get back into it, if it has auto-patches? But it's probably just like Star Trek Online and others through Steam, where you still have to run the app for it to update. Not worth it.
One thing I would say is make sure to skip all the side quests. Just do purple quests when you go to a planet. That lets you do the main planet quest and your story quest. You will get plenty of xp.
If you have a main character that is max and you are familiar enough with gameplay start playing the expansion stories. It is fun so far.
A lot of the times you don't even have to do the Planet Quests. Story and 2-person Heroics (which you should be able to solo with your comp) should get you leveled up for the next set of Story Quests.
I finished Eternal Empire with my Jedi and finished all 8 class stories. I'm probably going to plunk around with the latest content, visit some of the older stuff with the other classes and call it a day (or couple of months).
