I heard a rumor that swtor is coming out with an arena system. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

You mean beyond the ranked games? If it is beyond the ranked games that's getting a little silly because it's implementing a system that would work only for subscribers. Of course i dont think they care on that score.
Yeah but the ranked games are only for subs too. Areana would be bad news for me. I went hard core in wow arena and I'm afraid I might get sucked into this one.
SWTor arena, just found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrpSa...
Also, tauntauns!
Just a reminder, There's still a Imperial Paper Pushers on Jedi Covenant. I'm probably the only one left but the door's still open if anyone wants in. My alt, Portabello is in charge, but my main is Sarabaas, so I'm usually on with him (I'll have my alt on more with the bounty hunter event coming up). Hope I get to see you guys on.
Not sure who exactly you're referring to but the guild Starsiders have recently returned and are PVPing on Jedi Cov.
In terms of PVP faction balance, it really depends on your server, the bracket, the time of day, etc. And most importantly if there's premades running or not. Solo queuing is always going to be a crapshoot.
In terms of F2P restrictions, keep in mind that almost everything can be unlocked. (Actually, if you were ever subbed you should be Preferred and already have access to 4 quickbars.) And almost all of them can be bought on the GTN too. The only things you can't really get around is XP slowdown and having to continually buy weekly ops/PVP passes if that's your thing.
After playing my old low level alts and making a new one, I finally jumped back on my 47 Jedi Consular. The NPC he'd been romancing immediately needed to talk to him -- but not about where he'd been for 18 months or what other video game companions he'd been chasing. She just wanted to apologize for something she'd said -- of which I have absolutely no memory -- and then to make out a little.
Ah, MMOs, is there any aspect of real life to which you are not superior?
I'm still relearning most of my skills, but the basics are coming back. I don't feel comfortable healing a flashpoint yet, but I'm breezing through my story missions. I think I'm almost done with that. I just started Voss -- is that the last planet of the story mission?
does anyone know if its possible to change the language of swtor and still have English subtitles? I'm trying to learn german and thought this would be an awesome way
I still play, after Gray Council moved to JC, i lost interest, but now I have joined the dark side, and the last few months i have been running a guild on the EU server The Red Eclipse.
I've been enjoying my return the past month enough to sub for a second month. I hadn't played since launch, and I'm really impressed by the improvements they've made. I finally got my sage to 55 after leaving him at 47 and have been doing FPs and raids with the GAF guild.
The space update looks interesting. I haven't played enough of the old space sim to get sick of it, but if the new one is a more open, free-form style like the old X-Wing vs TIE Fighter games, that'd be glorious!
Ranalin, do you have a Shadow on JC with the same name? If so, _great_ stealth caps last night in that Civil War, heh.
Welp, after watching the 2003(?) animated Clone Wars series, binging on the Star Wars Minute podcast, and not being able to get into Knights of the Old Republic 2, I'm resubbing to this. Really want to finish my characters' stories. Haven't played since launch, though. Hopefully I'll see some IPPs left.
Hmmm, is that not on rails space combat? If so yipee! Though I admit that the limitations of space combat that bugged me the most wasn't the on rails part. It was the limited number of missions, the limited number of mission types (no smuggling, combat or not? and the limited number of times you could get decent rewards and xp for it.
This is friggen Star Wars... I should be able to level a class to cap from space combat alone. Or at least let me get half of every level through space combat. Hell, GW2 lets you get half your levels from crafting. And how many people wouldn't have enjoyed SWTOR more if they could viably progress from doing story missions and space combat? I don't think I'd ever have quit.

They had that in Star Wars Galaxies (Jump to Lightspeed)... man, that game was so ahead of its time it wasn't even funny. Especially since it (at least initially) was rather different than WoW.

Well, it came out before WoW changed the world.

I think you could level all the way via space combat if you really wanted to, it would just be boring as hell.
"Conflict Rising" trailer released for the Galactic Starfighter expansion.
12v12 dogfights? I will be all over that! X-Wing vs TIE Fighter dominated my time in college, and that essentially only had 1v1.
Might actually reinstall for that :).
I'm a little bummed that it is pvp only but it makes sense as that requires the least amount of dev cycles. Hopefully it does well enough to spawn a pve missions expansion. I also hope this has advanced features like AI team mates because nobody wants to wait in lengthy queues.
Or hopefully the teams are comprised of largely AI opponents where the players are the minority that tips the balance. Because nobody likes consistently being trounced due to flaws in the ranking system. (if they have a ranking system...)
It is one of the reasons why MOBA's work. The AI objectives dampen the effect of skill variance and paid for shortcuts (both time and money). Sure a well skilled team is always going to defeat a poorer skilled team. But one mistake or one smart move can make the match much closer and/or keep the match competitive for longer.

people uninstalled? ;)
There was a rumour about a ton of people flipping EA the bird and quitting forever, but I don't know that I saw any hard evidence to support it

I haven't played since it went f2p... not because it went f2p, just because the endgame is boring. Space battles look cool and I'll play it if it's not crazy restrictive for 'preferred status' or whatever it is they call people that used to sub.
