So what is the keeper ramifications of picking up someone off waivers that was drafted? Does the keeper value go by what he went for in the draft, or by what the person who picks him up paid?
I had assumed it was based on the price paid to grab him from the waiver wire, not his initial auction value. We should probably shore this up with Dallas Clark sitting out there this week...
I figured them at free agent price. Like an NFL player who is cut and signed later, his old contract is gone.

22 Mins Flaming Homers placed Anthony Gonzalez WR IND on the IR. New!Somebody's playing for next season...
With the asskicking you're putting on me this week, I'm probably going to be doing the same thing. Any playoff contenders interested in Mendenhall, Charles, Ward, S. Moss or Mason in exchange for keeper players at low prices?

Look at my roster and talk to me about Mendenhall, if you can find anything.

I might want to start doing that....
There's not much out on the WW and what I dropped wasn't anyone who was going to play so I might as well. I'm playing for this year but planning for next year. I AM at the top of my division.
What happened to Blacksheep in Week 10?
I didn't click submit. Normally, I put in my lineup early and then go back the day before the game and double-check. Unfortunately, I was out of town.

Oops.
Given that even your optimum lineup didn't beat the score he posted, I'm not stressing it.
Yeah, yeah. But I would've at least made it a game.
Alright I have a sportsmanship/ethical question:
I've clinched my division and a 1st round bye. My opponent for the first round looks like it will be Flaming Homers, a much more desirable opponent then Team Grump/Fresno Fog in the 4th slot. Therefore there is little incentive for me to win this next week. Okay, so that is just maneuvering for the best playoff seeding, not too unsportsmanlike.
Also, I won't have to play the following week due to the bye, which means I could save my starters from accruing inflation for 2 weeks. As I have a team of well priced players, I am planning on keeping at least 6 of my starters, this could save me some decent change depending on how much we accrue for a starters versus a bench player. Do we accrue inflation during playoff games? Or is it regular season only?
Real teams in the NFL tank and bench their starters to save wear/tear but this is a game we're playing so I was just wondering if this would be a frowned upon maneuver as it does feel a bit cheap.
As far as I'm concerned, sitting starters is perfectly fine. It's strategic.
I hadn't thought of benching players you plan on keeping to save a buck. Seeing as how I'm in the same boat as you elliot, that seems like a good idea. We are also both playing teams that are out of the playoffs so there is no moral dilemma as far as I'm concerned.
On that note, is there anywhere we can see the prices paid for all the players? (both through draft and waiver pickups)
ARISE!!
July almost over... how about we make sure everyone is in for this year, refresh on the rules, and get ready for the upcoming season just in case it happens? New Thread maybe?
Edit: Not time to worry yet by any means, just want to make sure I'm on top of this league in particular due to the Auction/keeper league format and my inexperience with it. Also... in case a new owner needs to familiarize themselves with a team.
I'm still in. Should probably wait until the CBA is finalized and we know that the season is starting on time before we get going though.
I'm in, though it's scary how little I've thought about football since the draft.
I always have a cool-off time between the draft and August, but I've been especially disconnected this year.
Also, should something crazy happen with the CBA, I'm all for sticking with the league but instead of drafting for performance during the games that don't happen, we draft for some sort of off the field metric.
Arrest = 2 pts
Conviction = 5 pts
Reality show appearance = 1 per episode
Movie cameo = 3 pts, 6 if headliner
ESPN interview or appearance on live show = 1 pt
etc.
I'm in .. and I like Bill's idea. It'll help freshen things up in FF.
Controversial tweets - 5 pts
Argumentative tweets following controversial tweet - 1 pt per tweet
Apology over controversial tweet - 2 pts
Silently deleted controversial tweet - 10 pts

This happened to me as well, I went through a phase in June where I kept thinking something was missing from my life. It wasn't until the end of the month that I realized I hadn't looked at or read anything about football.
I'm in for the keeper league and I also like the idea of Fantasy Off-The-Field Football. But I do think giving 5 pts for a controversial tweet would be a bit too powerful unless we had a rule where you couldn't tweet at your own players. Otherwise I know I'd just tweet at them incessantly about other sports, religion, homosexuality, and women's rights.
I got it, how about we reverse it. We all start at 100 points, your goal is to draft players who won't cause you to lose points. Now you can't just go and select a bunch of O-lineman, it would be a subset of the worst players. But this way it would encourage us to look at football news everyday to rub it in our opponents faces when they're player gets arrested, or harass said player on Twitter in hopes of getting a response.
If a spot opens up, I would be interested in joining.
If a spot opens, I'd be interested as well.
For off-field stuff, you might want to see how the Loser League works on Football Outsiders. They have a similar system of rewarding "failure", so to speak.
I'm still in.
