Elysium's Surgery - Final Update on Sunday 7/24 - Safe At Home.

I'm used to seeing stories about hospitals giving people the boot before they're truly ready in order to free up a room. Glad to see they're doing the right thing for Sean, and remaining flexible.

They found out he's a world famous podcaster and decided to give him the royal treatment.

Nah. Elysium clearly has the reach. They needed to provide the flexibility.

Oh boy, I totally missed out on that. But I have kind of a podcast backlog right now. Last week I think I heard the "beardy man" tell that he will be in the 4-weeks-of-non-gaming area soon.

Well, anyways. Congratulations. I am happy for all you Elys*s. All the best from Germany!

Spending a week in Tuscany so a little behind on GWJ. Great to hear Elysium's ok! He'll be back to melancholical front-page musings in no time!

Oh and Elysia, keep your husband away from P&C for a while. You know why

A huge thanks to Kiri and Robear for the beautiful flowers! The roses actually have a smell, which is pretty rare for florist flowers, you know? And they had all of these pretty little seashells in the bottom of the clear glass vase. Such a nice touch.

That was so very sweet of you guys! Thank, thank you, from both Elysium and myself!

Excellent news. Open-beard surgery is pretty rough stuff...hope the recovery continues as well as it's gone so far.

It sounds like Sean is going to be able to go HOME today! We're so excited! Woohooo!

:roll::pirate::roll:

That's great!

Fantastic

Awesome news!

Cheers! Great news beginning to end.

Fantastic!

Holy cow, that was fast. You either have a very talented surgeon, or a very tough husband.

Wow that is awesome news.

Awesome!

Huzzah!

Hooray for the homeness. Homening? The goings of home?

Anyway, hope you're soon well enough to start diving into some games Sean!

I feel your excitement, Elysia. It feels great to come home after a great journey, and you and Elysium have gone a long way out, emotionally and figuratively speaking. I'd caution against going too fast about taking up the ol' comfortable habits at home, but darn does it feel good to curl up to the old consoles and give one of those favorite games a whirl.

It makes me feel happy that you're going back to the warmth and comfort of your family home. Savor that sweet, sweet life and love.

Excellent!

No kidding! The man had his chest opened up, fixed up, and put back together, and less than a week later he gets to go home. Crazy - in a good way of course.

So he'll be doing triathalons with Jonman in a week or so, right?

The beard provides maximum toughness. For great justice.

A day ahead of schedule. Way to go boss... Get back here soon, this place is turning into a zoo without you!

I wish I could give this post every social networking form of like/+1/thumbs up. Congratulations, and I wish Elysium a continued speedy recovery at home!

Getting out of hospital: good. Hospitals are full of sick people!

Guys, this will be my last update in this thread so we can let things get back to some kind of normal.

I am home in my big comfy chair with my laptop, my big glass full of water, a nice view out the window and the loving, doting attention of the best wife in the world. At this point, there is some big rehabilitation and recovery, but I'm ready to say that all is officially and finally well.

It's been a rough few months, and honestly the actual week in the hospital only falls in about the middle of my list of tough things to deal with. I was fortunate to have an amazing surgeon (seriously the scar is bad ass but not nearly as disfiguring as I'd have guessed), a great team in the ICU and the cardiac wing taking care of me, and the amazing support of all of you. Please know that hearing the words from this thread and from twitter have brightened my spirits day after day. Thank you all for your concern and your kindness.

Now I just need to figure out some fancy, superhero tech to plug into my cyber-heart so I can magnify the power of my beard to support the forces of good.
