Gotham City Impostors

Wow, yeah right there in the FAQ on Steam.

Can I transfer my stats from Games for Windows LIVE, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360 to Free To Play?

Nope! Gotham City Impostors: Free To Play is set in an entirely different infrastructure, thanks to Steamworks. That means that while you get the advantage of the great Steamworks platform to download Impostors, matchmake, and play with your friends, what you've done on other platforms has to be left there. (Stats wise, anyway. You're more than welcome to bring your skillz with you.)

Although mentioning Steamworks makes it sound like you shouldn't need another account. As someone who hasn't played, that entices me.

Although I feel pretty sorry for you guys who bought it losing all your progress.

EDIT: Although according to this thread, original owners should get the new Platinum Pack DLC. And any other old DLC you bought is supposed to transfer.

You have to exit Steam completely then come back in to see that stuff, if anybody's wondering.

I'll have to go see if I've got enough stuff to play the way I used to with loadouts. It looks like that Platinum unlock did give you most of the old cosmetic items, even stuff I didn't unlock.

Added the F2P tags to the thread along with Steamworks.

I really hope more people play this now. It's a good game that got overlooked, I suspect partially because of GFWL.

Tried it today, it would have potential except no dedicated servers. Peer to Peer connecting, with the attendant lag, freezes, stuttering, rubberbanding and random disconnects. No lobby, matchmaking takes a long time, and I kept getting disconnected midgame. Which means no exp, no unlocks, etc. This is coming across as shovelware to me, sadly. Early bad impression, too many other games that work right out of the box, I'll come back later and see if they fixed things.

While it's peer to peer, I've seen few connection problems in my time playing it both pre-F2P and post.

Not sure what you're talking about with no lobby, as there is one as you matchmake.

I did notice yesterday morning that the first lobby took a bit of time, but once I'd gotten in it staid full as long as I played, and when I played again the second time yesterday matchmaking was much faster.

EDIT: As soon as I post that I hadn't seen any connection problems, I have a game where it's pretty bad with people warping around, etc. But I went 34 and 12, so I'm not complaining too much

I guess it's fresh meat in the game right now, so it's not quite as tough as it's been at higher level play before. Haven't seen tons of heavy divebombing going on yet, so it's probably at it's most fun at the moment before the new players figure that one out.

Also of note, if you did own the game before and get the bonus XP, you level up fast. I've played four rounds and am already level 16. Kind of crazy.
