LOL hey there! BTW everyone, this is my Brazilian friend. Also, he's the father of one of the cutest babies I've ever seen.

Hey, Namikaze!

Thanks for the compliment. I don't know if it's just because I'm his father, but each day he seems cuter!

I just hope he doesn't end cutting off my hand after I have cut his just because I told him I'm his father... Oo

About all the invites to beta testing, it'd be really nice if they picked some Brazilians... Even better if they got my wife and me... but... well, better stop dreaming. We know for sure we'll just play SWTOR after its release.

So, I thank in advance any info you can share about classes mechanics, specially about the healing classes (I'm still deciding if I'll play a Jedi Consular, a Trooper or a Smuggler).

Seledhor, good news, everyone who has already signed up for the beta will get into the next, which will also be the last beta test weekend.

As long as you are signed up and opted in for testing, you will be invited to test.

The mother of all stress tests.

Hurray! Will it be next weekend? Whenever it happens, I have to assure I won't schedule any lunch or dinner with RL friends.

They have not announced the dates for the next weekend.

I totally got into this beta round. Thanks, jerks, only internet I have is my phone.

I dont peruse the Gray Council forums etc... I have registered and been accepted. I would ask that pertinent info or at least a link be posted here. Things like server choice discussion, Vent info, guild miscellaneous crapola should be reflected in this forum as well. Minimum should be a hyperlink to the thread in the GC forum.

Thats definitely going to be the case. In fact i think the plan was to have those type of discussions originate here.

Sounds good to me.

So we are going to be using vent, not the new hotness, mumble? I'm perfectly fine with vent since I've never used mumble myself but it seems to be the way a lot of people are going.

Sith guys are mainly using Mumble because they've already had a server set up for it.

I think Namikaze/Crazy Ivan has a Mumble server set up already as well for their LotrO group which we can use for SWTOR.

I dont care one way or the other, but thought we'd default to GWJ Vent first and then go from there.

Sith might be using default GWJ vent as well. The mumble server we have also sees use as the BHA raid voice so that might be too many people a few times a week.

The whole world needs to switch to Mumble. Going back to Vent after using Mumble is painful.

O_o What exactly does mumble do that makes it so much better at the task of "press a button and you can talk to people"?

When I use mumble, I feel it transmits nearly instantly. When I use ventrilo, it feels like it takes a few seconds before others hear me.

In the middle of a conversation, thats not a big deal.
But if I am playing a shooter and want to warn Bubba that someone is sneaking up on him, it can make the difference between a "Thanks!" and "I was already dead when you told me"

I've also never had to modify any settings, it seems to normalize all users right out of the box and sounds crystal clear. With vent, even when I tried using normalization settings, there were still users I had to manually increase or decrease the volume on.

Bean pretty much nailed it.

Mumble information for the Gray Council:

Server: eldain.mdns.co
Port: 64829
Password: awesomesauce

Once you're in the server with the name you want to use for your login, go to the top menu bar and select Self, then Register. This will reserve your user name and make it so that you don't have to ever have to re-login if the password changes for some reason. If you are an officer for the Gray Council, get in touch with me so that I can give you the appropriate administrative privileges for Mumble.

The Mumble server currently only has a couple channels, because it hasn't been used to capacity yet. We have a channel for Eldain (LOTRO) and Gray Council (SWTOR), and a channel for each of the guild's officers to use. We also have an AFK channel which will move people to the AFK channel if you haven't used Mumble in the last 60 minutes.

As far as why Mumble is better, Bean handled a big chunk of the things most users will see. However, it also has a much easier system for configuring your microphone, it has a great easily customizable overlay system that can be used in-game, and it also tends to filter background noise much better than Ventrilo does.

Personally i think it sounds better too.

I prefer Mumble as well, for the out-of-the-box overlay alone.

You mean the overlay that won't turn off? Seriously, the last time I raided with Mumble running, I died since it was overlaying vital information and it refused to be disabled.

It is trickey to configure, but you can turn it on and off. You can also adjust the size of the overlay or configure it to only show an active voice.

I have the exact opposite problem; I have the overlay turned on but it doesn't show up for me. Not too big a deal I believe all the info displays on my G15's LCD.

App'd

Finally got incredibly excited after playing the beta this weekend.

Just a friendly reminder to all of those who would join us in stamping out evil from the galaxy, get your app in prior to Dec. 2nd if you want to be included in the Guild Launch. We of course will accept applicants after the game launches via in-game invites from Gray Council officers. Gray Council.

Played Beta these past couple of weekends...going back to Lotro (very little voicework, not up to TOR standard, in case you haven't tried it) and now having the main voices I hear be dwarves give me the same one-liners about $%^&*ing Durin's Bane over and over.

I had been planning to wait for the starter area rush to clear and the first major patch before jumping in here, but now I'm not sure. Someone had better not take my Jedi, Coda, while we're working our way towards Isengard...
