Word on the web is that A&M's next coach will indeed be Sumlin, and it will be officially announced this weekend.

That's a really good hire.

I really hope it works out. It is a completely different offensive mindset, so I'm a little worried it might be a Rich Rodriguez/Michigan type of fit. I want a competitive A&M team in the SEC so I'm hoping he can turn things around there.

Looks like RG3 has won the Heismann. Well deserved. Congrats to Baylor U for their first.

I definitely was pulling for him after last weekend. Hearing him talk about "Baylor winning the Heisman" and giving all that props to his teammates and coaches, even though it's technically an individual award. Seems like a good kid.

Congrats to him - great player who seems to actually have the character that the Heisman winner is supposed to have. A rarity these days; that component is something of a joke these days. It's a wonder the Heisman Trust hasn't tried to do something about that. Unless they did so quietly, and this is the first fruit of that.

That said, I almost threw up when he thanked Ken Starr - that guy is a huge POS hypocrite (just talking about the last year, not politics).

So is RG3 going pro? If he comes back, he is going to be an absolute beast in NCAA 13. We may have to take Baylor off the board! He was already a really fun QB to use in this year's game.

Fed, congrats on the Aggies hiring Sumlin. This is going to make rooting against your team difficult, because I really like the guy.

Most people think he was told to to resign, but when I looked at his history and noticed Fresno State job was open I started to think maybe he just left. He's a west coast guy and maybe he just wanted to go home.

Yeah, Willy's not just from California, but from the Fresno area. Went to high school with my mom.

For Fresno, he makes too much sense. The school needs someone from the area that's going to want to stick around and build a program. They also need someone the fans are going to buy into, as poor ticket sales are what doomed Pat Hill.

Willy's not just a local guy, but his time on the Fresno State coaching staff was served under The Almighty Jim Sweeney. Sweeney is still seen as a god in Fresno, and a Sweeney disciple is exactly what the fans will respond positively to.

Thanks. I hope this was a good move. In retrospect, I hate seeing Sherman go, but .500 just isn't getting it done. I really don't know.

Sumlin seems good. We'll see.

Rumors swirling that A&M's outgoing DC, Tim DeRuyter, is going to be named HC at Fresno State.

Sound the *Legion* klaxons!

I sure hope not.

Kelly Skipper has been identified as a "finalist" for the Fresno State job. Like Willy Robinson, he's a former Bulldog player and former longtime Jim Sweeney assistant coach. If it's not going to be Willy, it better be Skipper.

Now reported as a done deal.

So Kansas already landed a solid WR, and looks to be in on another really good OL since Weis took over.

Today he got Dayne Crist to play his final year at Kansas, beating out Wisconsin, and Jake Heaps from BYU, who will have two years of eligibility left after sitting this season. They are two solid pro style QB's that should fit in perfectly to Weis's system, giving Kansas a solid three years of good QB play. They may not be Heisman candidates, but they are the upgrade at QB that KU desperately needed. They are also big enough names that it should help jump start recruiting. But landing two former 5 star recruits in one day is fun, no matter how far their stock had fallen.

Still nothing on defense, but if he can get a name DC in, hopefully they can begin rebuilding that squad. But so far, the Weis hiring is paying some nice dividends. With Weis at the helm, Kansas is getting positive buzz on ESPN and other outlets. And the general buzz among fans and boosters is excitement for next year, which should sell tickets and raise money.

So I get to go to the Rose Bowl. So random. My best friend, Ducks fan, had an extra ticket. Purchase a hotel stay and flight on points and suddenly I'm going to my first bowl game. Weird and awesome.

TAMU lost Joseph Villavisencio (a lineman) yesterday, so my thoughts are with his family. Losing a promising young man is always hard. Win this bowl game for him TAMU.

FYI anyone reading this thread, an animal isn't worth you're life. Be careful in your travel this holiday season.

Thanks, Titanis.

Worst call of the year tonight in Louisville's game. Pushed NC St. QB out of bounds on 4th and 12, well short... and the LB tries to hold him up so he doesn't run into the cameras on the sidelines, gets called for late hit roughing. I guess sportsmanship doesn't get any respect.

Put Louisville in a hole, but we're trying to rally late in the 3rd now.

Barring unexpected defections to the NFL, the Dawgs with 95% of their 2 deep coming back next year might have a very clear shot at the SEC championship game and possible BCS title birth.

Even if they don't play in the SEC championship they have a chance at the BCS title. Sorry, it was just sitting there.

Seriously, though, Georgia looks loaded. Yes, Boise State beat them, but you always see these teams that finish strong and you realize they're going to be a handful next season.

This Baylor-Washington game looks like a MAC regular season game... all offense, no defense, first to 60 wins!

Frakin kickers.

Aggies won their bowl game (and our tickets were the best I'll have in my life), and today Houston avoided the ignominy of losing to Penn State!

Ducks win a shootout that ends awkwardly with the clock running out.

Musberger and Herbstreit were terrible announcers that game. They sounded completely disinterested for almost the entire game. That's tough to do with a game that was never out of reach for either team, the lead changed hands multiple times in the second half, and the lead was never more than 10. And yet they still sounded excited every time they talked about Andrew Luck, or any other game besides the one they were calling.

It's the very essence of what is wrong with the bowl system. The game meant, literally, nothing. The NC and elite players going pro are far more interesting.

Yeah I only tuned in for the last half of the 4th quarter. It was the most meaningless game, despite being the Rose Bowl.

Enjoying the hell out of the Fiesta Bowl though, and still think either of these teams (moreso OkSt) should have got a shot at LSU. I seriously doubt I'll watch the Snorefest, Pt 2, next week.

Wide left!

Aw now I kinda feel bad for him.

LSU/Bama would destroy OSU. I'm always against a rematch, but this game is much better than an LSU/OSU game would be. Stanford has a better shot at beating either of those teams.

They'd still lose by a lot.

Poor kicker, put him on suicide watch.

That's not a touchdown.

I've been much more impressed by Stanford in this game.

Man...does Stanford want to borrow a kicker from Alabama?

Just got back from partying after the Rose Bowl. That was fun. That solidified my desire to have the BCS go away and be replaced with old school ballots and bowls.
