Dresden Files Catch-All (possible spoilers)

I really like Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels books. Up until Butchers last 2 books I'd been finding his characters too flat and borderline stereotypes, and Kate Daniels has excellent representation and more rounded characters.

I second this, although, the sex scenes are terribly un-sexy.

for example:

Spoiler:

he grunted and emptied himself inside of her

While I enjoyed the Kate Daniels books, I found the Innkeeper books and Hidden Legacy series more fun to read.

As far as sex scenes in urban fantasy, I usually treat them the same way I did as elven ballads/poems in Tolkein - i.e. skip right past them without bothering to read a word. Tolkein was kind enough to italicize it though, so it was easier to identify where to skip to.

I got relatively far into the Alex Verus series, until I couldn't not see the poor attempt to mirror Dresden's life.

I might try a lighter happier version of Sanderson. I don't dislike his writing, just the tone of the books I read.

Innkeeper was already on my list, I'll add Kate Daniels and the Kitty Norville series .

Iron Druid book 1 is on sale for $3 so I'll try it

And now Amazon sent me a $5 off coupon for any other ebook by Kevin Hearne. Good for 7 days. Guess I better get to reading and see if I want the 2nd one cheap too.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts!

Interesting, Jim’s son has his debut novel coming out this year. Dead Man's Hand (The Unorthodox Chronicles Book 1)

Yeah I ended up getting Iron Druid book 2 as well. Finished them both and pretty enjoyable so far.

No coupon for the next so we'll see when I pick it up. But it's nice to read again. Honestly been a few months since I read anything as long as a book.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the series.

Looks like a new short story out July 5.

I consumed it greedily and am now sad I don't have more... Damn I like Dresden Files content...

I am very interested in 'Twelve Months'

Pretty much how I always feel. Write faster, Jim!
