Google+ Catch-All

I'd like to move over to G+ more permanently, but nobody I actually know is using it yet. Pretty much I just follow a bunch of Goodjers so far. I like the idea of it being somewhat of a consolidation of FB and Twitter. I hope my friends and family start migrating over at some point.

Chicken and the Egg. If the people on it aren't posting regularly and exploring the service, then their friends aren't likely to be interested. If their friends aren't using it, people aren't likely to post.

Any idea when Google+ will be coming to Windows Phone 7? Back when the site was in beta they said they'd have an app in the marketplace in "the next two weeks," but nothing has materialized. I do almost all my social networking on my phone and not having it there is cramping my G+ style.

+ finally came to google apps for business domains, so I deprecating my old account (migrating as much as I can over) and getting my real account setup. Apologies for adding people all over again!

Hating the Facebook more and more every day. Twitter is ok, but not very... well... social. G+ seems like the ideal combination of both ideas so I'm surprised the world has yet to swtich over.

I imagine the people that get to the point of quitting Facebook are like me. They quit and just quit it all. I just got bored and annoyed with everything. GWJ ended up being my new Facebook. If I want to talk to my local friends, I call or text them.

G+ is my primary place for posting interesting tidbits and keeping up with my geeky friends, as most of them seem to be regular users.

The entire time I was seeing articles about G+ "dying," I was watching my peer group slowly expand their G+ usage. Now, a few months later, there are articles about people who use G+ being happier with it than FB users are with FB. Not surprised at all...

Generally, the stuff I read on G+ post feels... "curated" if that's the right word, and I try to do the same with my posts. When someone posts a link, it usually has an actually useful description, and there is almost always an interesting discussion going on under it. Maybe it's just those I follow, but in general I get the sense that when someone posts something to G+, they're inviting a conversation, whereas on FB, it feels more like a dumping ground for whims, or showing off.

Nowadays, if I have something interesting to post, I post it on G+. I have ManageFlitter configured to automatically post any Public G+ post to my Twitter account, and I have Twitter sync'd with Facebook. That way I can start the conversation where I care (G+) but it still gets to "legacy" Twitter and Facebook. I use Twitter often, for quick conversations with friends and following hockey reporters and geeks who post interesting stuff, but I really only check FB to see if anyone has responded to things that originated from G+. I'll very occasionally scan through FB to see if someone posted something interesting, but unlike Twitter, I don't care if I "miss" something.

I'm pretty happy with this setup, in general. The highest-quality conversations happen on G+, good conversation happens on Twitter, and things still make it to FB for those who don't use the other networks.

Ooo, ooo. Can we have a GWJ G+ community?

Done!

If any of you are interested in phone photography I've started a G+ Community here
Phone Photography

Please feel free to share! It's an open community.

Nice! Accepted.

The unwashed masses will likely pass on this, but a TES Community.

So my internet pal Tim Coe does a "choose your own adventure by committee" thing on google plus and he wants more participants. The 5th story just concluded with the promise of the next one "soon." It is RAD and you should totally check it out.
Some background on older stories: http://www.metafilter.com/117567/Cho...
The community (which you should join if you want to be notified when the next one starts): https://plus.google.com/u/0/communit...

EDIT: nope.
