Child of Eden Catch-All

I'm a complete Mizuguchi ho so I picked this up even though I don't have Kinect. I'm playing it with controller and enjoying it so far.

I've had this since Thursday night, and I am yet to get the plastic off it. Not through want of trying. F*cking work and crappy deadlines!?!?

I've never played Rez but I thought the kinect controls looked neat and the graphics are cool. Only played it a short time. It is fun but the tracking isn't great. I have a lot of trouble catching the specials that pop up and I'm dying after about 10 minutes. Maybe I'm not moving my hand fast enough.

That's what she said.....

I feel so juvenile.

Apparently if you beat this guys score on the official leaderboards Ubisoft will donate $1 to relief funds for Japan. I have no idea is his score is insanely high, low or middle but if you are playing the game it seems like a worthwhile thing to do which costs nothing.

Just a heads up for anyone that has been on the fence because of price/length:

This game is currently Amazon's video game deal of the day for $35.

Goddamit, I just ordered it yesterday. Hopefully they'll refund the difference since I haven't even gotten it yet.

Edit: Nope, they wouldn't refund. Which basically just means that they're going to eat the shipping cost, since I re-ordered it at today's price, and I'll be refusing delivery of the more expensive copy. Amazon be dumb sometimes.

Dell does the same thing. You have to refuse delivery and reorder.

Try again, and keep trying until you get an American on the line. I ordered borderlands GOTY for 30 bucks, the next day it dropped to 20 bucks. I chatted online with someone in mumbai - they said no, called and talked to a supervisor in Pashawar - he said no, called someone in sunny california - sure thing!

I really enjoyed playing this on Kinect. I thought the controls were perfect. I had a much easier time playing it on Kinect than on controller, oddly enough. The flicking of your hand to shoot the targeted enemies was spot on for me, as was the right- and left-hand tracking.

I thought about doing that, then decided that it was easier to do the reorder/refuse thing. It'll mean waiting an extra day or two, but I can live with that.

Hot damn, this is a great game.

The only downside is that it's unashamedly Rez 2. To the letter. Although in all honesty, that's kind of an upside for me, I fricking love Rez.

Spoiler:

I'm the guy who imported a Trance Vibrator for the PS2 version. I can't resist stupid peripherals at the best of times, and if you offer me one that goes down the missus' pants, I'm throwing money at you within seconds.

It's a rare game that makes people go "whoah - what the hell is this?!" when they walk in the room and see me playing it. But that's been the response every single time. One of my friends even asked if he could come round my house, drop acid and watch me play it.

It's really exactly what I wanted from a Rez 2 - slightly tweaked mechanics, and hugely tweaked visuals. I am in for the score chase long haul, I'll tell you that. It may be the first retail game I actively pursue getting all of the cheevos.

I really want to find a friend with a Kinect so I can have a borrow of it and try this game out with it.

I really like the game, but I can't get past how arcane it is to have to repeat a level if you don't prefect it. I know that ups the difficulty, but I'm a baby gamer who has gotten used to checkpoints. Partly because it saves time in my everyday life.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you. But in a game of this kind of length, where each level takes somewhere around 10-20 minutes, i think it's actually a good design choice. Moreover, the entire design of the game encourages replaying levels, even down to the achievements (one for finishing the level, one for killing everything, one for getting all the items, one for getting a ludicrously high score).

I totally agree with you.

You are clearly living life right.
