Gah. I want to upgrade the stereo in our car so badly, but it's 8 years old, and I know that the second I do, it'll have something permanent go wrong with it elsewhere, and necessitate a tradein.

Does the stereo work with the new iPhone connector?

So upgrade it and keep the old one. If you need to trade the car in, ask the dealership to swap them out, then get it put in the new car. A good stereo should be an upgrade over most stock stereos.

Such a great dumb game. I have it for 360. Giant ants make any day better!

SuperDave, I think your efforts have finally sold me on EDF for Vita

He's good at at that

On to silly purchases. These are only semi-silly because they didn't actually cost me any money. Between trading in some old games at a used game store near my place and cashing in some leftover credit card points through amazon I acquired the following goodies

MGS: Peacewalker
Persona 3 Portable
Tactics Ogre
FFXII: Revenant Wings
Dragon Quest VI
FFIV for DS

Wouldn't you just use the Bluetooth?

It should. It has a USB port. You could also use Bluetooth.

Why doesn't New Zealand just rename their country to Middle Earth and get it over with...

Sadly, Wellington airport also now claims to be "Middle Earth airport".

What do you mean sadly? Wouldn't renaming it increase immigration? What've if you mandated all new homes to be constructed under hill?

Edit - And I just noticed I'm in the wrong "Post a Picture..." thread. Oops. Obviously I didn't buy the Wellington Airport.

My order from The Tie Bar finally arrived

Very nice.

I find their silk to be rather thick to my taste, which typically requires a 4-in-hand, but otherwise I have no complaints of their quality. The price sure is right.

Needed something to keep the shower curtain in place.

Also, bookmarking that site. Department stores ream you on price for ties unless you buy clearance.

I didn't buy any regular ties, just bow ties (this time). I'm wearing the skinny bow tie right now, and the silk is just thick enough. But if the neck ties are like this, I can see them being too thick for a small knot.

After 12 years out of the aquarium hobby, I decided to buy and set up a nano planted shrimp focused tank. It's fairly low tech (medium light, no CO2), and current inhabitants are 12 pumpkin shrimp, an unknown number of baby pumpkins that were bred in the tank, and two Amano shrimp. The tank is an Eheim Aquastyle 9 gallon. It came with LED lights and an internal filter, so I'm using it pretty much stock except for the titanium heater on the left.

I know the back glass looks kind of bad right now with the plastic mesh, but that's an in process moss wall that hopefully will be covered by aquatic moss soon to give it a lush look as well as giving the baby shrimp places to hide and feed.

A few months back my wife blew out a couple speakers in her Jeep, so I decided to do a complete system rebuild for her. I ended up putting in all new speakers, a new amp, subwoofer and a nice head unit that hooked up to her phone and let her play Pandora via her phone's internet. Well she loved it and I started wishing I could play Pandora in my car. Well, I already had nice speakers and a good amp, but my head unit was 11 years old, so I replaced it with this baby. It's kind of awesome, and really pretty cheap for what you get. Had it in for about a week now and I'm loving it so far!

Best part was my old deck was also a Pioneer, so I only had to redo a little bit of the wiring. Entire install took 30 mins.

Pretty sweet head unit. What was the price, if you don't mind? I have a Pioneer deck myself and have the paid Pandora service that i run through my phone and hook up through an aux jack, but am looking for an upgrade soon.

$329.99 at Crutchfield with free shipping and free installation hardware. Those guys are just the best place to buy audio equipment; they really go out of their way to provide amazing customer service. For example, every order will come with a phone number that you can call to talk to someone about installation questions, and they provide documentation with your order about your specific vehicle and how to disassemble your dash and install the head unit, etc. When I was installing my wife's gear, the steering wheel control adapter instructions from the manufacturer were just plain incorrect for my vehicle and I couldn't get it to work. I called the number the listed on my PO and got straight through to a tech who did some lookups and was able to walk me through the correct wiring, all in under 5 minutes.

Aquarium looks great. I shut down my 75 marine tank a couple years ago.
Keep those plants trimmed. They will overgrow fast! The idea of a moss wall is cool! Never thought of that! It will also help to localize the nitrites to keep Moss off of everything else. (kind of like having an in-tank algae scrubber)

Yeah, Im an aquarium hobbiest myself and that tank is amazing! I am thinking about going out to a park to find some good driftwood that would work for my tall octagon aquarium. Then boil the hell out of it.

Sounds good. I know Crutchfield very well, got my last 2 head units from there. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Thanks for the heads up.

I live across the street from the lake, so I just waited until the water went down and went and collected a bunch of different pieces to try. Bleached them for a few days, then cleaned that off. I had trouble getting this one to stay down, so I mounted it on a bathroom tile with a stainless steel screw.

My biggest tank is a 75. It's in the garage since I moved 12 years ago, along with several other larger tanks. I just got to looking around and loved the new cube style nano tanks. Thought it would be cheaper way back into the hobby. Not to mention that my real goal was to try a planted freshwater shrimp tank. This is pretty much perfect for that. And much cheaper than stocking/planting something like my 75G.

I used to be mostly into cichlids. Had the big tank full of Mbuna cichlids, then some smaller tanks with breeding apistogrammas and kribs. Had the basic low light stuff in the apisto and krib tanks to provide cover and give the fry places to hide, so it's not my first time with some level of plants, but it's my first serious attempt at it.

These plants are all pretty easy low light stuff. I'm not sure I like the layout I came up with, as the crypt up in the front right is taking over a bit more than I wanted, and the ludwigia in front of the filter is growing in slower than I had thought it would. Should have put the Rotela from the back right over in front of the filter, as it would have hidden it much quicker.

Moss walls are pretty cool if they fill in, the problem is that they don't always do it well. If mine doesn't fill in well, I'll just rip it out and try to get more moss on the stump instead. Your point about Nitrates is a good one, and the other thing I'm probably going to do in that direction is to get some floating plants once the temps warm up a bit for shipments. Those are great nitrate sponges that you just scoop out when they get too thick and start blocking the light.

Here's an example of a pretty lush moss wall so you can see kind of my goal:
