Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

I have to find a picture of my corsair K-60 and M-90.

Keys which fire at the top of the throw. Very snappy. Except it makes for typos if you brush a key hard on the way by. It is kind of loud. Not clicky[EDIT, they are in fact cherry red switches - still not clicky]. This seems more like it's the fact that the keys stand clear of the keyboard surface instead of being shrouded in a "bowl". This makes for easy canned air spraying of gunk off the keyboard. No hidey places for crumbs and such. This my main reason for getting it. The shroud on a normal keboard must muffle the sound a bit.
Lucky for me, alone in a home office, means, type as loud as you like.
The keyboard is great, and the optional red WASD keys help the kids play.
I do miss the media controls on the left. This K-60 has them on the right, which means reaching across the keyboard, or taking your hand off of the mouse.

The M-90 is nice. It's a bit heavy, and the middle mouse button is stiff. It has a very definite roll over which would be good for switching weapons in a shooter, or rolling over slots in minecraft. For work, it's just not what I need, so I'm also keeping my bottom of the line microsoft mouse, which is nice and light for CAD, with an easy middle mouse click which is good for CAD since it's used almost constantly. Pressing a firm middle mouse button is good in a shooter, again, where you don't want false clicks, but all day of panning in CAD makes for sore tendons with a middle mouse that firm. So with a little uninstall, install, of different keyboard and mouse software, I now have a new keyboard, gaming mouse, and work mouse on my desk.

It's a Dell Inspiron 7720. My wife told me I can get a laptop that can run my games so I can take it with us when we are on vacation. This is basically an expensive bribe she agreed to pay and it wasn't cheap(1500$ including VAT 16% which is going up next month ).

The important specs are 17.3" 1080p , I7 3610QM 2.3-3.3GHz, Nvidia GT 650m, 8GB ram, 1TB 5400 HDD ( kills the load time but it's fine) 4 X USB3 , 1 HDMI, 1 VGA , 1 10/100 rj45 (unfortunately no gigabit ethernet ) .

I basically looked for the most powerful GPU for 1500$~ I can get locally. I got it at a local store that specialize in laptops . The only alternative I found at that price range was an Asus N56VZ at a store I'd rater not buy from (1 supplier ) because of customer service issues. the N56VZ is a 15.6" which is more mobile but I picked the larger size 7720 because I guessed it would have a more comfy keyboard .

In general the laptop is very comfy to use . My hands don't even go over the touch pad so it has nice human engineering . The GT 650 's benchmark results are about 40% of my pc's GTX 570 so it can handle quiet a lot. It has a lit keyboard but it won't matter to me because I'm a blind typist . I tried to play LoL (not a really tough test) on it and it handled the game better than I handled my champion. While playing I thought the screen is a little small I guess I got used to my 25.5" screen. I also tested tethering my phone and found out it works at 6/1Mbps but I'll only use it if I forget to put steam in offline mode because my quota is 2GB.

The other items in this picture : "Bamba" on the right , my daughter's toys on the top left , there is a cat's tail on the bottom left ( she's about 5 so she's not new), the blue roll is 1000 part puzzle rolled up (my wife's new silly thing) there is also a bottle of mineral water on the right.

I haven't played D&D for years, and I actually owned the Wizard cover reprint when I was a kid and not the original, but I still had to get this:

All I've done is flip through it and think "Ohh- I remember this!!" It is indeed a silly purchase.

Not arrived yet. Picture from Amazon.

I really shouldn't have bought it before I was planning on it, but I just found too many times where I was thinking that task X would be easier if I had this.

You would not believe how many times I came back to that book at GenCon. I've held off purchasing it as of yet since I still have my original, but even so I'm seriously considering it.

Behold the power of nostalgia!

Edwin, can I get comixoloogy on the Nexus?

You ought to be able to, it's an Android device. (Comixology on Google Play)

Works quite well on a 7" screen. I've got my nook hacked w/ CM7 and use comixology all the time.

Had a $50 future shop gift card and a white Ikea desk, which is the worst laser mousing surface ever.
What a difference in tracking. I couldn't believe it.

The only thing I don't like, is my wrist sticks to it a bit if the house if really hot.
And, my Corsair M90 has an aluminum chassis, which if you touch down without the mouse level, after or during a lift, you get that metal on metal sound.

I guess the new AC unit that we installed solves the sweaty wrist problem problem AND is a silly purchase of the month.

Four tickets to see Wicked on Broadway this Saturday.

Yay! New sub! Although right now I'm leaning toward buying a second and an EQ so I can get flatter in-room response to 15 Hz.

No pictures of the sub itself, but maybe I'll snap some when my new TVs get here tomorrow.

The Ms. and I made a down-payment on a king-sized. It gets delivered on Friday. So very excited.

Little bit of Android Frenzy over the last few days.

My wife, in a final snit over Apple and the BS jury decision, has decided to ditch her iPad in favor of my 1st Gen Xoom. This meant I needed to get a new tablet. Oh noes! Decided on one of these:

As it's Wi-Fi only, it meant I needed a new tetherable phone. In a show of solidarity for Samsung, this is coming:

I still have all of the original first series books, in very good condition. And you should see my dice collection, it is uber geek

Hey, we are Transformer Infinity brothers; I picked up the 32gb model with dock last weekend (stupid Best Buy not having 64gb's). I got sick of waiting for the Padfone to be released in the US; as I need a new phone too.

Padfone? Is that what they call a Phablet?

And by "they," I mean marketeering dorks with no respect for sensible English.

No, it is a 3 in 1 device (ASUS Padfone). Basically you take the brain out of a Transformer Prime and slap that into a phone (4.3" screen). You can still use the 10" screen and/or keyboard dock as a tablet whenever you put the phone into a docking slot on the back of the screen. It seems like a really unique way of merging all the tech together (smartphone, tablet, netbook).

I have been wanting a 10" Android tablet since first playing around with the 7" Kindle Fire + I want/need a new Android phone + I really like the Asus approach of using the keyboard as a dock/battery extender = The perfect gadget for me (if only they would release the damn thing in North America, so I know which cell company to move to). /rant

You like it, I hope

Had to check which Infinity I ordered. According to Amazon, it's the 64Gb version. They don't list a 32Gb, I didn't even know they made one.

Both the phone and tablet arrive tomorrow. Got a busy night ahead!

That seems oddly appropriate given your tag.

Being an Eagles fan I would have to say that is probably the most silly purchase I have ever seen.

Could be worse, could be a Cowboys helmet.

I mean at least the Giants have won something this century. :p

I'd like to see a picture. And what are the physical dimensions. I love everything about my home made Tuba HT, except the size, which is 24x36x36. The price on mine was right (just the parts and materials). I'm not sure I want to know how much you spent, though. Subs can be way expensive.

I went with an Epik Empire for now, although I may start looking into some DIY stuff. I used to do car stereo installations and custom enclosures, it'd be fun to build up an HT sub.

The Empire is a dual 15" sealed sub, specs are 140 pounds, 22 H x 18 W x 24 D. I'll have to take pictures of mine later as the room is still in shambles from gutting the old AV rack and changing TVs.

Until then, here's a random photo from a Google image search that shows someone else's in-room.

Oh ok. Mine's a folded horn, so much bigger obviously, but doesn't really do below 20hz very well according to what I've read about it. But what it does do, is amazing.

I mostly did it because a friend really wanted one, I have a woodshop and he asked. So we just made 1 for each of us and knocked it out in the middle of winter, but used his much warmer garage for finishing.
