Scalpers sell Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs for up to $1,000 — Ryzen 7 9800X3D is out of stock at major U.S retailers

Yikes. I hate being right all the time.

Newegg, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Walmart, and Amazon are all completely sold out of Ryzen 7 9800X3D's. The only vendor who technically has some stock is MicroCenter, but the caveat is that only specific locations have some in stock. [...]

Unsurprisingly, scalpers are taking full advantage of the low 9800X3D stock. On eBay, you'll find 9800X3D's going for as much as $999, with most being priced in the $750 range, which is still a whopping 56% over MSRP.

The supply situation is so bad that Newegg issued an update on X stating that another shipment is arriving soon and will restock as quickly as possible. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D's low supply isn't just limited to the U.S. market. The CPU is out of stock in various European countries as well.

Yeah sadly because Intel has nothing to compete with it.

Intel could actually be in serious trouble.

No longer the fastest gaming cpus, and it's not even close.

Almost never the fastest in productivity, and probably never after the 9950x3d launches.

Never had and still don't have the most efficient cpus, even with the latest chips marketed on their efficiency.

Way overpriced.

Terrible, confusing branding.

GPUs on life support

Oh and they haven't received the Chips act money yet. Government claims to be worried Intel won't build what it promised to.

I guess Intel hasn't really been competitive since the last time I built my own PC with my own hands. Sad. If they can't make decent CPUs any more, and their GPUs are useful for... I guess web browsing, what are they making now?

(I think this discussion belongs somewhere else, but I have no idea where)

ha I forgot this wasn't the PC help thread.

I just watched JayzTwoCents overclocking video and it was like another generation improvement in some games.

Yeah 7800x3d is the way to go right now. You can always sell it later after the hype dies down and upgrade.

For some extra support on why use 1080p for testing CPUs:

EDIT: A follow up video posted between when I posted the above and now.

I had a quick look at the 2nd video, enough to fast forward to the benchmark results, and...

Why isn't the 7800X3D shown in those results? Comparing the 9800X3D against the 7700X, of course it's going to be faster. If that was explained early on, sorry, but I'm not going to waste my time on a video that isn't comparing oranges and oranges.

The 7800X3D is missing because they covered it in the 9800X3D review (14 games) and 9800X3D vs 7800X3D (45 games) videos that were the 2 previous videos they posted, and this is a follow up video to the comments that keep coming in not understanding the reasoning for using 1080p. The options presented are for different cases . That video isn't trying to compare the previous best to the new best, it's purpose is showing why 1080p is good for CPU reviews, and they need different types of processors to demonstrate that. I posted the videos I did because they addressed the questions from JC on why use 1080p for reviews.

Hope that helps.

Cool, thanks.

Finally found a bumper sticker that speaks to me. Had to get it!

A couple of silly but awesome purchases

This thing makes the best pizzas! We also have done garlic knots.

I love Ninja products and can never make up my mind on what to drink. This solves that problem and offers a huge mix of drinks I can make. Plus, if I don't like the Ninja syrups, I can use SodaStream which has a much wider variety.

I can't hear the word "paizano" in any voice but Captain Lou Albano's.

Replacing an LG CX 55” which was on its way out (5y old, couple of black pixels and occasional power supply whine)…

Samsung Q90D 65” QD OLED

Significant Black Friday discount from MSRP. RTINGS.com loves this TV!

I must have been blessed by the TV gods. I bought a flat screen in 2007 and it's still trucking along.

You'll have to pry my Panasonic plasma out of my cold, dead hands.

My Panasonic plasma was cold and dead years ago.

I'm so sorry.

I bought a Samsung 55” OLED a year ago and I’ve been very happy with it.

I’m still rocking a 14 year old 46 inch Samsung. Although, it’s been “demoted” from the Family Room to the Master Bedroom which made it seem HUGE again.

Nice. My old old computer monitor was a 27” Samsung bought at an insane discount from Costco about 15 years ago. It is now serving as a streaming monitor on the computer a friend bequeathed to me this year when it was no longer able to run the protein simulations he runs for work. I plan on using it for encoding and chatting if I ever get motivated enough to do some more Twitch streaming.

I have a 48" Vizio that I bought in 2010 and love it. It got demoted a few years ago because we bought a new armoire for our living room that enclosed the tv (the vizio doesn't quite fit). Since then I've been looking for a nicer tv that fits the armoire well but wasn't a $1500 OLED. I've gone through a couple of cheap tvs that fit better but don't look as nice as the Vizio. Just before black friday I found the LG B4 48" tv that fits the armoire perfectly and is OLED and 4k. Beautiful tv and I hope it lasts as long as the vizio. That Vizio was such a huge jump in visual quality over the projection tv we had (which was HD). Still looks great even next to the OLED.

I had one that was almost 20 years old that was as great as the dayI bought it, and I used it every day.

I just recently dropped it on a neighbor who needed a TV. His whole family loves it.

So many ways to parse this. Most of them hilarious.

New truck and 5th wheel. Silly because we didn't need it, but I don't want to wait until retirement to get more enjoyment from our glamping experiences.

Spicy!

I have three silly purchases of the month. First, I bought a joystick for my laptop because I'm getting back into sims in a big way, but the placement felt wrong, so I bought a mount for it, which is far better.

Finally, I bought a new gaming tablet, a Lenovo Legion Y700 2023 edition (after many, many recommendations). Not only is it great for DOS games, but it's an emulation beast, as I've gotten PS1, PS2, PSP, PSVita, GameCube, DS, 3DS and Dreamcast games working on it:

It's amazing and I love it. The only hiccup I've run into is using Windows games via Winlator, but I'm sure I'll get it working eventually.

I have the same Logitech joystick. How does the mount work?

Here it is!

Hikig Steel Clamp-on Joystick Mount Designed ONLY for Logitech G Extreme 3D PRO Joystick for Windows, Adjustable Durable Steel Desk Mount Holder for Flight Joystick (Flight Joystick Not Included) https://a.co/d/1v0JC6z

You basically build the mount and then screw the joystick onto it. It takes maybe 10 minutes to put it together. Then you just clamp it to whichever surface you want.
