Got this in late July from the Kickstarter.
Holy shit! I totally had the original when I was a kid, played with it all the damn time, yet somehow forgot about it completely until you posted this :O
Huh that Crossbows and Catapults looks a lot like Catapult Feud, which got earlier this year. My kid loves it, the only downside is the balls roll everywhere. We have the expansion which adds ballistae as well.
Check out Crossbows and Catapults, they use discs that don't roll. @Trachalio yeah, I had a ton of it when I was a kid, it sparks joy.

So jealous! I saw Weird Al back in 96 or 97 and it was amazing! Puddles Pity Party is great also if you have never heard of him. The closest show to me is just over 4 hours away. Maybe ... next time?

Cool. My first concert was Weird Al in 1986. He did a free concert in our town (I think it was like a dress rehearsal for his Like a Surgeon tour) and my parents took my sister and I. I saw him perform "Eat It" and "Like a Surgeon" at the peak of popularity of those two songs he parodied. I also distinctly remember him performing an unreleased song, "It's Moldy Now" to the tune of "Hold Me Now" by the Thompson Twins.
I think this will be my 7th time seeing him. Honestly, the guy puts on some of the best shows I have ever seen.
Dope. Where did you find these? It’d make a very good Christmas present for my kid who is obsessed with doom.
Official Bethesda store.
Sure it's a print on demand version and not the original box set... and made for a pretty obsolete rules system. But damn do I ever have a ton of nostalgia for this setting. Gonna be a fun read.
It's not a picture, but here's the parts list for my dream PC, which I'm having built for me next week thanks to my AAPL ship coming in! The build is a combination of a couple of high end PC builds I found on the internet, with some advice from the PC builder at my local PC shop.

Yep, it's ridiculous. The price is ridiculous. But I'm buying it anyway.
Make sure you use the $10 off promo code at the bottom of that page!

You got a lot of the same parts I just got when my pc's motherboard finally died. Minus the video card. Been pretty happy with it. Though I never bothered to setup the motherboard wifi bit.
And yeah the sticker shock for how expensive PC stuff is now... Then again I'm still stuck in 2010 prices.
Couple of things bug me about this build.
First is that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is released next week. It is rumored to significantly outperform the 7800X3D. There are even new motherboards that support it. Only problem is I don't know if or when it will be in stock. Or the motherboards that support it, for that matter. I read that it should work in any AM5 mobo, but I don't want to be a test case for that.
Second is that the RTX 5080 is rumored to be out before the end of the year. However, a) that's just a rumor, and b) I have no idea how it will perform compared to the 4090. The 4080 was only an incremental improvement over the 3090. It did have new features, though. So will the 5080 blow away the 4090? No idea. And the use case for the 50 series cards seems to be weighted towards AI. :barf:
So while this is pretty far from a conservative build, I decided to be conservative in these two cases.
Only problem is I don't know if or when it will be in stock.
Or when it will be a reasonable price... I expect the 7800X3D will drop back to at least MSRP or lower as demand for the 9800X3D outpaces it. There's also a rumor there are two parts. A 9850X3D.
IMO wait a couple weeks and get a better deal on the 7800X3D. It's still top of the heap for gaming until the 9800 parts come out.
If you want to upgrade to 9800X3D some day, seems you'll be fine on the mobo as long as it's a recent AM5 board.
I’m thinking it doesn’t have Hall effect thumb sticks or it would be bragging about that. It’s well past time for gamers to demand drift-proof sensors.

Just a question (which may be a dumb one). Why the 4090 over a 7800 XTX? It's about a $1k difference. I went for the XTX and super happy with it.
Because this build is all about performance, and the 4090 significantly outperforms the XTX.
Sticking with the Ryzen 7800X3D was a good idea, it looks like. Reviews for the new 9800X3D dropped today, and for most of the game benchmarks I saw, the performance of the new CPU is marginally better at 1080p and about the same as the 7800X3D at 4k. Since I’m playing at 4k, it’s not worth waiting for it to be available at or below MSRP.
I know I meant this build to be all about performance, but I don’t like the idea of enriching scalpers for a minor performance benefit.
Which reviews are you looking at? Gamers Nexus review shows pretty significant gains at 1080p
7800x3d does perform a little more energy efficiently, but it also can't be overclocked. But yeah I agree at 4k you're not likely to see much difference.
Yeah, Hardware Unboxed goes in a similar route. Gaming performance is great -they start at 11:25 with saying the 9800X3D should shine and, 'holy moly, does it shine'.
If you are looking at productivity reviewers, you may be getting the 'meh' reviews. In gaming, though, the 9800X3D is the new undisputed king.
EDIT: I hadn't even watched to the end before choosing my final words which ended up being the same as HW Unboxed.
I watched Linus Tech Tips and Gamers Nexus. The 9800X3D is definitely more powerful, but the gains depend on the game and the resolution. The gains are significant at 1080p in some (most?) games, but that’s not significant for me. I play games on my TV.
Gamers Nexus benchmarks show way more difference in some games (at 1080p) than the LTT benchmarks. The most dramatic difference is in games like Stellaris, which is mostly CPU bound. Baldur’s Gate 3 is an exception, as I wouldn’t expect it to be CPU bound but it shows a roughly 26% improvement. FPS type games seem to be showing 5-10% more um... FPS... with the 9800X3D.
Gamers Nexus did a fascinating video last week about the 9800X3D design. They interviewed some of the AMD hardware engineers, and explained in detail the difference between the old and new 3D cache design. Okay, it was fascinating to me, but it does get into the weeds in parts. The new chip design, with the 3D cache physically beneath the compute sections makes the thermal performance of the 9800X3D significantly better than the 7800X3D. The previous design has silicon blanks as the top layer on large parts of the package, around the cache sections, which is not great for heat flow. And it's a big reason the 9800X3D supports overclocking while the 7800X3D does not.
Anyway, I’m happy with my decision. Availability is still a big question mark, and with the new X3D being crowned King of Gaming, it is likely going to be hard to find. (And maybe more expensive, but I don't care about that for this particular build.)
Oh, and I nearly forgot! Everything has arrived at my apartment except the CPU.
ALL HAIL THE TOWER OF POWER!!
Can someone explain to me why CPU tests at 1080p are relevant in this day and age? Is it simply to show the capability of the CPU because at 4k it's the GPU that does all the work? I'd like to see an "overall" benefit with a high end video card playing at 4k.
Yeah, it's to remove the GPU as a factor and better expose differences between CPUs in benchmarks.

But do you have enough Astrobots to unlock the level with the evil alien that took it?
