Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

So I've been streaming SimCopter, which is one of my all-time favorite games. The game has two ways to play, the career and loading up SimCity 2000 cities. I'm going through the campaign right now, but when I'm done with the campaign, I want to do user-made cities, and I realized I want to make my own. Thing is, I've never been great at making cities in SC2000. I'm also discovering a love of vintage strategy guides, and SimCity 2000 has FOUR.

They were all cheap, too. So far I've been reading the one in the upper left, and it's a joy to read. Can't wait to read the rest.

That sounds super fun!

Yeah, I'm very excited about it!

COLOR!

Under contract on a home that was built in 1844... This is gonna be interesting.

Neat!

Sign says 1843?

yup. There was a log cabin on the site prior to the building of this place in 1844.

Having bought and remodeled a 100 year old house, I can't even...

Buying a house? In this economy?

Seriously, congratulations!

Hope it has been rewired in this century!

It has. It was abandoned for so long that went from no electricity to current standards. Previous owners did most of the work rehabbing it and got it designated as a historical landmark. One of the oldest homes in Charlotte.

Cooooool!

Edit: Did they hard wire it with ethernet cable when they did the update?

Sadly, no. Gives me something to do though.

We did Disneyland back during spring break and I saw this on display at the Guardians gift shop. It was the one thing I wanted to commemorate the trip (which was amazing). They didn't have it in stock on-site and I couldn't find this model anywhere online, at Citizen, even on eBay.

Disney+ QR code from the 90's Spiderman show had it.

Congrats on the house JC. My place was built ~1900, my advice, excise the concepts of square and level from your mind.

Late 1800's here, can confirm. The only level things in my house are shelves I put in, and they look wrong.

I needed some retail therapy last night so I bought a GameSir controller for my iPhone. I wasn’t very happy using JoyCons.

It arrived by 7am this morning and I have already tested it out. It’s a really nice controller so far and worked seamlessly with my iPhone 15. No setup required. It was literally plug and play. It even has a usb-c pass through and an old-school headphone jack.

So far, I tested it with Laya's Horizon from Netflix, Stardew Valley+ from Apple Arcade, and A Link to the Past with the Delta app. All worked flawlessly.

I also bought an extension kit from Etsy so I can mod it to fit my iPad. That won’t arrive for another few days.

How does one use this delta app?

It’s free on the App Store. It supports all Nintendo systems up through the DS.

You need to provide your own ROMs of course. Just copy them to your phone via iCloud or Dropbox. The app supports controllers, but also has some pretty good touch controls. I’m not a Pokemon guy, but I hear on podcasts that people love the app with touch screen controls.

So, I didn’t know this existed until a month or two ago, when we had the author on our podcast, so of course I had to track down a copy.

Thrall you to Progenitor!

Well that is the second most niche thing I have seen today.

The vanilla GURPS rulebook?

EDIT - OMG I just googled GURPS and their official webpage looks like it hasn't seen a fresh coat of paint since the 90s

Got this in late July from the Kickstarter.

I ordered the ys X Nordics limited edition. It just looked neat.

Huh that Crossbows and Catapults looks a lot like Catapult Feud, which got earlier this year. My kid loves it, the only downside is the balls roll everywhere. We have the expansion which adds ballistae as well.
