Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

(The supersac not the grandkid.)

Be careful not to flop down too hard and launch the baby!

We have something similar to a Supersac. I call it "The World's Most Expensive Dog Bed", because our dog immediately decided it was hers, and the humans in the house rarely use it.

We have a large lovesac and our dogs will fight over it. They jump on it and circle 178 times and then lie down in the middle. It's big enough, though, that you can lie down with them if you want.

She has the decency to look guilty.

Not necessarily a silly purchase but kinda random and expensive:

Not sure if it's a dehumidifier or a portable AC. I'm guessing the AC.

Way to compress those gases!

Its an AC but it has a dehumidifier mode.
We purchased a dehumidifier several years ago and put it in our bathroom. That was a "must have" purchase that has paid dividends upon dividends.

Decided to treat myself to a new monitor. Ended up landing on the Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo. It's definitely a different experience gaming, and it's awesome! Not sure I can ever go back

Those curve ultra-widescreen monitors are great. I really liked my Asus 34" - used it for nearly 5 years. Then my old eyes couldn't deal with the focus distance. Just the wrong distance to be able use readers. So now I have a 55" LG TV mounted to the wall behind my desk. Really like the increased desk space as well.

The one thing I noticed was first-person and over-the-shoulder games would distort at the sides.

Enjoy the view!

For those interested, I think the most popular tutorial for Blender is the Donut Tutorial.

Are you trying to tell us that buying donuts is silly and we should create them ourselves?

I disagree.

Wear a helmet.

Yeah. I have a Minimotor and it'll get up to 37 mph (and scare me silly). I'm most comfortable at around 22 mph. Also don't need 70 mile range either. Knowing what I know now, I'd get a slower scoot with a lighter battery and try to get the weight down to 20 pounds or so.

Enjoy! They are a ton of fun.

Oh, top tip. Like all two wheeled contrivances, they do counter steer and become exceptionally maneuverable if you use the technique.

Wear a helmet.

I do. And I get pissed because it seems no one else does
I'm also getting elbow and knee pads. - I'm old. A fall would be very bad.

Note: I've almost been seriously injured twice on my current scooter. I've adjusted my route because of that. Cars in line at stop lights like to lurch into the bike lane without looking. One I was able to avoid. The other I actually bumped my shoulder into their car.

Since I'm getting back into flight sims, I wanted to some homework. I already owned the book on the bottom but I just got the two up top. I've started Air Combat Manoeuvres and it's pretty good so far!

I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Shaw while beta testing the network function of Falcon 3.0. Nice guy!

I've been riding a terrific 19mph 15 mi range 500W escooter for a few months now. I am addicted. So I want a little bit more and need to upgrade.

I am not planning on going 30+ mph, but it is nice to know I have that power if I need it. There are times where the bike lane ends or some other reason I need to go into the street. In those cases, I feel it is safer to go closer to the speed limit when dealing with traffic. (speed limit is 25mph most of my commute)

The danger of the new ride is the higher speed. But the safety I am gaining from better braking, handling and suspension offset that quite a bit. And if I don't plan on using the speed more than 10% of my commute, it will mitigate the risk.

The tires are a little smaller but they are wider and solid so accidents from flats are minimized and they should hand road hazards even better. There is also the horn as compared to my puny bell and the side lighting for better visibility.

It is dual motor so what I think I will opt for is running in turbo mode but single motor unless I need help climbing. That should lower the top speed closer to 25 and increase the range. (listed at 34 mi but with regular commuting typically falls to half that)

Anyways, as you can see, I can talk about this for days. How do you like your scooter Moggy?

Love it! Use it instead of a bicycle as much as I can. My town has rental scooters and the place has become accustomed to seeing them downtown. Despite being an old fart, the younguns riding the rentals live it when I come zipping by them. It also has the bling lights, which add to the party feel.

You ride that thing in downtown St. Pete? You're braver then I thought!

Nothing beats hammering up Central

Yeah, I am always super giddy when talking about riding my scooter.
They certainly aren't for everyone or everywhere. If you have a harsher climate your riding will be seasonal. If you don't live in a relatively flat landscape, it won't be worth it. (unless you have a nearby park or trails you can cruise)

I need to find some like minded riders in my city. My wife is excited for me but I am sure I can get on her nerves. Plus I need good resources on what to do or how to sell my old scooter when the new one comes. I get the feeling there is a reason all the YT streamers have garages full of scooters gathering dust...

It's silly because I can't stop giggling when I'm riding this thing. And it's got a top speed comparable to all those scooters y'all are talking about hehe.

That a CB125S or a CB100N?

I had a 125S as my first motorcycle. It'd go 70 mph and I put some serious miles on mine before blowing the engine up.

It’s a 72 CL100 Scrambler. Would you believe only 6000 original miles? It’s pure nostalgia from a simpler time for sure.

It’s currently got a CB fuel tank so I need to find a proper CL tank. Definitely makes it look like the other models with that tank

Oh, its got a far better top speed than really any escooter.
The most extreme scooter has a listed top speed of 70mph but have yet to reach that real world.
There are some the get in the 50-60mph range but most are 15-20mph and 30-40mph.

Technically the lowest wattage motors are 350W with peaks of 500-600W and could reach up to 25mph. But they are almost always limited to 15-18mph by controllers due to vehicle code regulations. Also, the sacrifices for top speed limit range significantly.

I've had my Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's for years... I just paid for replacement pads, decided on impulse that it was time to let them flex a bit.

Bonus, it turns out that I qualify for a Teacher discount and got the bundle for the price of just one (ish). Hooray for penny-pinching impulse buys! I'd be losing money not buying this at that price! Now I need people to tell me that I'm an idiot and that I could have just turned up the volume.
Edit:
Looked it up. If you're willing to jump through some hoops with 3rd party verification Helm Audio gives Teachers a 40% discount!

Eh, you're fine.

There might be a more conveniently portable option with more available power and a little less wire/cable mess, but also... looking at it seems like tradeoffs either way.

As far as the "you could have just turned up the volume" part, eeeeh that's both not exactly how it works and also on top of that pretty much everything about how someone experiences audio is subjective anyway. Someone can shove signal response graphs at you all day long every day but none of them actually matter.

All that matters is if you like it when you listen to it! If you get it and can't tell the difference between using it and not using it, then you learned something about your 280 Pro's, and you know you're good to go with what you already have. If you do notice a difference and you like it better, you win!

Have fun with the new gadget.
