I wouldn't mind hearing some mid-life crisis ideas. I think I'm at that stage.
I'm approaching this stage and, coincidentally in this thread, am considering a midrange e-bike as my "midlife crisis car"

I put down a deposit for one. But still hesitating between that of a Tesla 3. Is it something you looked into ?
I thought about a Tesla but they don’t have dealerships in my state so I couldn’t test drive one and didn’t want to drop that sort of cash sight unseen.
Smart considering their shotty build quality.
If you are willing to spend your own money, and depending upon local availability, you could rent the car you are interested off of Turo.com for a day or two.

Home arcade?

brand new towels?
Get a Prince Albert!

Too late for you, but I believe you can schedule a test drive at a service center. IIRC there are two out in your neck of the woods and one in mine. Dunno about the rest of the state.
I did have to drive down to the Chicago area last summer to pick up my Model 3.

The other advantage this one had was the dealers had them in stock when I went looking rather then ordering it and waiting several months.

Hatorade's not a good look in this thread.
And it's "shoddy".

Company in the Netherlands had 75 Tesla's as taxis between Schiphol and Amsterdam. Rode like a dream, till something breaks. In the end - according to the news - they had like 40 Tesla-cabs that where sent back and Tesla couldn't fix them in time. Then the company switched to a German brand.
Word over there is that Tesla has beautiful cars, as long as nothing breaks: they simply miss the experience to fix stuff.

Sounds great! I just have to make space by kicking my wife out of her studio.

TIL that Q's wife is arcade-sized.
Not really a mid life crisis thing, but on the subject of home arcades, I picked up one of these

For only $50 you get a great arcade setup. The controls feel really good. With a little bit of modding, you can put 5000 arcade games directly on it and just connect to a tv.
It's rechargeable with bluetooth. So you can sit on your couch, make a stand, whatever. It comes with a little hockey puck computer thing that you plug to the tv, etc.

Found the Tesla owner.
I thought it was common knowledge that Tesla has a quality control problem. Maybe it's my jealousy though. Sorry if offended Tesla owners around here.

I built my own Retropie system a couple years ago.
I remember Rabbit talking about creating his own arcade and how much it kind of fired me up to do the same. Then I realized it seemed like real work and that I'm sh*te at soldering so I went the miniature wargaming route instead.

I used to be a big mini-fig wargamer back in the day. Back when the figs were pewter. I had a fantasy army of dwarves and a British Napoleonic army. While the time needed to paint the figures is the same, the abundance and quality of 3D prints available to download, along with the cheap cost of 3D printers nowadays, makes this hobby much more viable.
Alas, I don't have the time for all the painting these days.
No soldering involved in my build!

I did the same (sans your cool controllers - I used a PS3 controller and a Buffalo pad) and it worked well. It was a little shaky on N64 stuff, though. The rendering had issues.
I would like to go back with a newer Pi to see if it's gotten better.

I really wanted to get a Onewheel, but was vetoed by the missus.

How? What was used instead?

Quick connect terminals and breakout boards.

What is that white box on the right that kind of looks like it could be a vintage microwave but not really?

Looks like a modern radio/stereo modeled like a vintage radio.

My college roommates and I built a full 4 player mame cabinet back in 2004 with no soldering, too. Just wrapped / tied the wires on to the connectors.
