Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

Oh where do I start? This month was a cornucopia of purchases. The first, which my filthy gamer friends told me about, is the Deadpool as Bob Ross Funko Pop.

From there, it gets a bit more hilarious. I frequently test products and get them for free for giving honest reviews. How could I say no to the Ballsy pack?! For all of you in the cheap seats, the description is "A winning trifecta of men's products specifically aimed to take care of your most prized possessions. The Sack Pack includes everything you need to keep you and your boys smelling like the champion you are."

Now, I'll admit that I had a little hesitation when I found out that Ballwash is jet black and I would be rubbing it all over my nether-regions. However, this stuff is pretty awesome and I'm looking forward to writing a review

And the most silly purchase this month is my new iRobot. Why is this a silly purchase? Because I already have a robot vacuum! However, the one I have does not have the feature where it automatically goes to the base and empties the canister when it's full. Also, it's $29 a month and they send you a new one every 3 years. It takes 2 years to pay this off, so you are paying an extra fee to have the subscription. The nice thing is that you get protection insurance on it, and it monitors whenever you need parts or new bags and automatically sends them. It's definitely a "lazy tax" I'm paying but I'm completely happy with it

Roomba's are fancy bumper-bots, so you really, really have to try running both at the same time and enjoying the results. It's even more entrancing than just watching one work.

Multiple Roombas? You know what to do.

You want Skynet? Because this is how you get Skynet.

I am so happy that this is a thing.

I will probably never get to actually play it, but I don't care because the book is gorgeous and I love John Harper.

I have no need for this. I barely have time to play anything, let alone something on Xbox. For now, we'll call it an aspirational purchase.

Wait, people liked the Duke?

Are the Mech Assault servers still up?

It's the only controller ever created that didn't physically hurt my hands after longer periods of time playing a game.

I just bought a steel tumbler with a cover and metal straw!

IMAGE(https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71ULJo-wqGS.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_ML2_.jpg)

I have had a pair of glass double hulled rocks glasses, but I dropped one outside the other day. (And boy did it pop like a lightbulb!)

This tumbler is now my backyard Wine/Margarita/Fitzgerald/etc cup. Also great for the beach.

I’ve tried a few different reusable straws. I need to find one with a larger diameter. Something similar to MacDonalds size.

So... I'm apparently a Ukulele player now:

We were visiting family last week out in southern Ontario and my brother in law is a musician (and Elvis Tribute Artist). We were having a conversation about his Ukulele and I, in passing, mentioned that I'd thought about getting one for a while.

Two days of light peer pressure later, I became the proud owner of a Twisted Wood tenor ukulele.

That’s a pretty uke!

I won’t post o photo of my not-so-silly purchase because we all know what an iPhone looks like. I went from a 6Splus to a 12 Pro Max Big Daddy Pipin’ model.

The silly part is that I was given several hundred dollars trade in value on a phone that I’ve been aggressively using for three solid years. Are the chips in that thing really in such high demand? Probably so.

The other silly thing about it is that I don’t really know how to use this thing. They took away my home button and my headphone jack and added several camera lenses. Now I can take photos of the moon? I’m sure I’ll learn all of the new gestures and controls but I’ve had it for less than 24 hours and nothing seems intuitive.

I think it's all about the subscription revenue model. They can resell your phone and then collect monthly payments. [/derail]

Off topic but perhaps the chip shortage is making used phones sell for more than before. I just read a news article about used cars skyrocketing in value and it’s mostly a downstream effect of the chip shortage but also the pandemic is changing many peoples’ buying habits.

You’ll eventually get used to swiping up from the bottom to go home. What’s nice though is that you can also swipe left/right on the hash line at the bottom to quickly switch apps.

It hit me earlier today that swipe up is the universal gesture. One thing I love (and it’s a silly thing) about swiping left/right on the hash line is that satisfying click. I can’t get enough of that click!!

The folks who did/do like the Duke have always mentioned that it fits their large hands quite nicely.

I played Rocket League with it last night. To me it feels like holding a soup bowl for a controller. It's a fun gadget, I might even break it out to play Halo once in awhile, but otherwise I think it's totally a collectors item sort of thing.

Also, that they added a little OLED screen to play the original Xbox boot animation when you press the button is so over-the-top, I love it.

I feel compelled to post this:

I did some stress retail therapy.

If you work in an office, I would suggest the CJRB Ria or the Civivi Elementum.

And unlike so much production damascus, it actually has a real edge. The Civivi stuff is surprisingly good for a very fair price.
