Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

Mao, in the words of Paul and Storm, "he's not our b*tch."

WHOAH!! NEIL GAIMAN!!

Neil Gaiman is awesome. I met him back in 1997 when he did a guest lecture at UCSB for Frank McConnell. Frank and Neil had collaborated on multiple projects, including Sandman, and he was just a gracious and amazing speaker. They held a little "social hour" after the lecture and Neil was amazingly kind, refreshingly honest and just an all around great guy. When Gaiman spoke at Frank McConnell's funeral in 2000, I openly wept in the crowd.

It was a dozen years ago, so in the off chance someone doesn't know the context for "George R. R. Martin is not our Female Doggo." especially as said by Neil Gaiman, here's the original source.

Also, in re: @sometimesdee's new commode, I don't know you well enough to make this kind of joke so I'll just vaguely mention that if you enjoy the kind of dark humor and also the kind of bathroom / bedroom humor found in the TV series "You're the Worst" your recent purchase might make season five episode two something to look for on Hulu.

that's a great response, thanks for sharing the source!

I'm such a weirdo that I wanted to know how the Lady Gaga Egg worked, so I read the installation manual and the user's manual.

If you get a chance, go to a showroom. The Water Spot has them on display, and Frank Webb probably does too. It's bananas.

Bidet's are the absolute best and we'll never go back to not having one. Though ours is just a simple seat replacement so we get the water but nothing else. Still got use some TP to dry off but that's far less than how much we used before. The goal is to get something like you just got Dee. That'll be a great day.

Ok, I didn't purchase it, but I did rent it for a week for my wife's 40th birthday next year. Right on the slopes of Tellruide, with a ski run directly next to the house. Gonna be a sweet trip with a bunch of friends we don't see too often.

I'm making the assumption that COVID won't really be a factor by this time next year and that it'll be 14 fully vaccinated people in the house together, so fingers crossed on that.

That tower room looks like an awesome place for a post ski drink!

You've been duped. That's a screenshot from Valheim. Demand your monies back.

The hot tub is also a good choice in that regard

As a teen in the '80s, I attended my aunt and uncle's wedding at a timber-chalet (fancy ski house made out of round timbers) above Telluride that to my memory very much resembles that one. VERY GOOD call. You get good husband points.

I particularly remember that they bussed us up the ski slopes on the back of a jeep scrambler kitted out with bus seats in the bed. Super gorgeous with July wildflowers blooming.

Dm me the link to that beauty. I might have a crew that needs to board from there ina year or two.

A bunch of silly purchases and case modifications complete!

I couldn't find the glasses in PCPartPicker. Where did you get them?

I could be careful, or I could be the exact opposite of that!!!

Bunch of youtube videos about lockpicking made me want to try it. Got a set of picks and some training locks. It's fun, I need more locks now.

be careful with Alexa Voice Control, what they don't tell you is that Alexa is actually using its voice to control YOU.

Who’s Alexa?

BRB. I have a sudden urge to purchase something with same day prime delivery. ANYTHING!! As long as it’s same day prime delivery.

You know, there are some great movies on Prime Video to buy, and you can just watch them right after you pay.

Or, just keep buying them and don't watch them.

Alexa is GLaDOS.

I am glad I'm not the only one who totally is obsessed with lock picking.

Lockpickinglawyer? His videos are great.

A short walk around the neighborhood should provide plenty of practice.

Maybe not your neighborhood.

Yup, watched his for a while. So I got bored one day and decided to buy a set.

See this is a win win. I either practice lock picking the neighborhood or practice lock picking my jail cell.

My Benchmade 940 celebrated its 20th birthday and though it still has plenty of service life left in it, it is getting a little lose in the lockup. So for my 55th birthday, I got myself a replacement knife for casual carry. I thought about going with the new 940 since they now come with an upgrade in steel from the 154cm that came with mine to the new S30V powder steel. I did consider it for a hot second, but the pricetag on that knife left me feeling there was so many other knives out there that offer greater value. In the end, it boiled down to a choice between the Spyderco Manix 2 S110V Lightweight and the Hogue Deka. The Deka is a closer 940 analog with upgraded steel and lock mechanism, but I ended up getting the Manix on a coin flip.

Here is what it looks like (not my picture)

The S110V steel is a Female Doggo to sharpen (thankfully it came sharp), but the edge retention is amazing. It is hardened to preposterous Rockwell levels so I will need to be careful about not chipping the edge. It feels a bit like handling an Aztec obsidian dagger. And I like that the blurple fiber reinforced nylon handle looks cheap and leaves the uninitiated with the erroneous impression that it is a cheap $5 Walmart carpet knife. It is the opposite of a "show" knife.

Nice. We sell Benchmade knives at the marine store I've been working at. I will admit the spring loaded ones make me a little nervous but they are cool!
