Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

So I just put a new PC together. Problem is, the connector on my IBM Model M keyboard is huge, and actually blocks one of the USB ports. It's basically an AT DIN5 connector with a DIN5-to-PS2 adapter.

So I found this. A genuine IBM keyboard cable made specifically for my model of keyboard. With a far smaller PS2 connector.

Worth every penny.

I have several of those, all in use. I dread the day when they finally stop making motherboards with PS/2 ports.

You can get USB adapters that work, but it takes up a valuable USB slot.

Or you could buy a keyboard that was built in this millenium.

Veloxi needs a keyboard that supports the overlays of all his favorite space sims.

Given how much the silly mechanical keyboard I bought this millennium cost, I'm hoping it lasts until the next.

The drivers get loaded earlier than USB drivers and for many boards its the only way to enable NKRO

Or you could buy a can of shut the hell up.

I got one Xbox One X:

It's boxes and ones all the way down!

Didn't you also accidentally buy two xbox one xs?

So you really have a box of xbox one x boxes boxes.

The second one hasn't arrived yet. They shipped individually.

And as Boogle said, you lose NKRO if you use a USB adapter.

I could take a model M and smash through a stack of keyboards from this millenium and it would be fine. None of the sliding mechanical switches feels like a real buckling-spring keyboard, although the Cherry MX Clear come close. I went through a bunch trying to find one to use with laptops, and finally settled on the WASD CODE. Speaking of which, I guess that qualifies as my silly purchase for October, since I bought my own keyboard for work.

Perhaps don't use your keyboard for personal defense? Instead keep a broadsword near your computer. Something purpose-built for smashing and slicing. It would also give you another excuse to post a fun message to this topic!

Can't believe I bought it, but it has been on my list of "much wants" for a while.

Silly because I'm not very good yet. I guess it's an aspirational guitar?

Mostly it's way nicer to play than the SG I got when I started learning.

Schecter, nice! I have one too, and like you, I'm not very good yet...But having a guitar you want to play is motivation enough to warrant a purchase like that Enjoy!

Every guitar is an aspirational guitar! Enjoy!

Yep, it's already better on that front. Plus over the weekend I noticed it stays in tune much more too.

LOVE my Schecter! Although, between the wife, three kids, recently down-sizing our house, and too much stuff too little space, I haven't been playing as much as I would like lately.

On that note, if you're an aspiring self-taught guitarist, I highly recommend the Yousician mobile app (and subscription if you can afford it, but not absolutely necessary). An iRig adapter is nice to have as well, even if you don't use the app. I've picked at guitar off and on for over 20 years, tried all sorts of self-teaching methods, and I've learned far more, fast faster with this one app than any other source.

I bought an RV. I have never taken an RV trip before in my life, but jumped in with both feet, and will be driving this bad boy back from Austin, TX to the SF Bay Area over the next 4 days with my wife and 3 kids. Wish me luck!

Good luck you crazy man.

Congratulations! That thing looks awesome.

- Increase your following distance. Bigger space cushion in front. Larger vehicles take more time and distance to slow and stop.

Also, do not cook meth in your RV.

We have a camping RV catch all too! enjoy.

Unless you WANT to make lots of easy money.

That's one hell of a rig for a first-timer. I bet you'll love it!

Working from home in my basement dungeon requires accommodation.

I bought a pair of quoddy's a few years ago that have become indispensible since I started working from home.

Those LL Bean slippers are just the best. I've been wearing mine for years. I love being able to take a trip to the mailbox with them on. I even accidentally left for work with them on one time (I caught myself and turned around). My only complaint is that without socks, they make my feet sweaty really quickly, and the fur inside wore off under my heel and the ball of my feet. Otherwise, they're worth every penny.

I just looked up the Quoddy's and am affirmed in my purchase of the beans. It is going to be hard enough to explain to my wife that I need to spend $60 on a pair of indoor slippers. Trying to explain spending three times that would involve my being bound to a chair sitting on a plastic tarp with bright lights in my face.
